"definitely way better at stabilisation"

"it is a fantastic compromise between size/weight and performance. ... the added weight really affects flight characteristics. ... compared to the action 2 it’s night and day."

"The camera unit weighs only 51g which is great, you can leave it on your helmet, and you won't feel the extra weight at all (unlike on a bigger gopro)."

"I still prefer the form factor of the Action2. ... I just don't understand the logic of making these "wearable" cameras bigger and heavier with each generation."

"If you’re looking at more action-packed filming, then the A5. ... The A5 is more rugged"

"until I broke the lens glass"

"definitely way better at stabilisation and image quality"

"The image quality is mindblowing."

"Battery very less from my expirience"

"The other issue is the battery. It is a rechargeable battery again, not a battery you pop in and out and can hold spares so when it is exhausted that's all you can film it for. ... These were my two main issues I had with my Action 2 and it's the same with this new model. ... If you are shooting short videos here and there it is ok but longer videos and hours of footage makes it difficult. ... These nano cameras are basically for light use, maybe for bloggers or short activities but not long day activities where the battery would run out..."

"You need the screen/battery unit with a memory card slot to record longer videos and it has a way better microphone. So even though you can use it as a really lightweight camera, you are forced to use the whole unit."

"There are two units. One with the camera and its dock unit with the SD card. You record with the camera unit and you have to transfer it to the dock unit with SD card later. It's annoying and if you are filming a lot of footage it can become a problem. ... I used it for fishing and I was restricted with having to copy files over all the time as it filled up quickly on the camera unit with 4k video."

"But it only has 21 gb built in memory. For 4k resolution, this is not much space."

"Dji action 2 heats a lots after 8-9mins of shooting in 4k 60 and does not allow you to shoot after that"

"Overheated constantly for me"

"I also have a DJI Action 2, it's a mini camera would would overheat even quicker at 4K60."

I prefer a chest strap on camera like this, because I am lazy to hold a camera. But I can't find any compelling reason why I should upgrade my DJI action2 to this osmo nano. Except for the larger cmos. The DJI Action 2 seems smaller and that is with it's built in screen. Action 2 also has better video recording capabilities? [https://www.dji.com/dji-action-2/specs](https://www.dji.com/dji-action-2/specs) [https://www.dji.com/nano/specs](https://www.dji.com/nano/specs) Something I am missing here?

I was in the same camp. The main question to ask yourself is this: What am I filming? If it’s a Vlog-type single talking-head whilst walking and shopping, the P3. If you’re looking at more action-packed filming, then the A5. I have both. I talk with the P3 and (badly) b-roll hyper-lapse with the A5. It works for me and there’s not much difference between the two - if you use the same settings. The A5 is more rugged and has a slightly wider field of view but the P3 has the better tracking on it if you are brave enough to leave your camera alone for a few minutes whilst you record. There’s no hard and fast “best” camera, I’m afraid. However, continuing your questions: • I use CapCut and have recently started using a Tourbox - it’s not particularly faster, but it makes me feel like a proper video editor. • I use the same titles and intro/outro clips and keep those to hand. That’s all I can offer in terms of reducing the editing speed. • I use the Pocket 3, Action 5 (sometimes the Action 2) and also my phone for photographs. • I don’t bother with filters or anything fancy; simply a few clips, a tripod and a selfie stick. • I upload to YouTube and Spotify with shorts/stories on YouTube and Instagram. I tend to take about 5-6 hours from start to finish but that’s because of my style and how I’ve managed to get my format. I recently learned that I don’t need to worry about uploading in 4K which helps reduce file size and I’ve just filmed in 1080p so I’m going to see what that’s like in a few days (I’ll be testing the output at 1080p and 4K)

This looks to be more of a competitor to the Insta360 Go 3S. I have both the Action 2 and Go 3S, and the Go 3S is a much better mini camera, however the Action 2 has the advantage of being able to use the same mounts as my Action 3.

Any specs yet? My Action 2 is still going strong, but looks like it's been through a war. Will probably pass for now, as I already have Action 2, and 5 Pro.

I grabbed an action 2 a couple months ago on sale and prefer its footage vs the o3 or o4 mainly because I like the prop noise🤷🏼‍♂️

You're very wrong to think that a GoPro can't compete with the Insta360 and DJI. Personally, I use a GoPro because I see a difference in image quality between 4K and 5.3K videos, which neither of the cameras mentioned offer. This is especially noticeable on a larger screen. Even the sensor size won't help. While the Insta360 has an 8K mode, I think it's already too large in terms of file size, so 5.3K is the perfect compromise. Besides, the GoPro's colors and HDR-style videos are unbeatable – the colors from the Insta360 and DJI simply look worse and dull. Finally, the GoPro's sound quality is better. That's what convinces me. I hardly ever shoot night videos, and while the cameras you mentioned are better at night, they're still far from satisfactory quality – there's no action camera on the market that records well at night. So for me the choice is simple - GOPRO :) I should add that I'm not a fanboy - I also have a DJI Action 2 camera, which I love for its size, but I don't see that DJI has improved much in the video quality since then, so i have comparasion to other brands.

I am using dji action 2 for 3 years or so. It was perfect. This is the first time they used this creative magnetic quick release. You can dismount/mount the camera with one hand whick is really cool for mtb riding. You can see a couple footages on my channel: [https://www.youtube.com/@blue-wanderer4392](https://www.youtube.com/@blue-wanderer4392) There a couple of flaws/design errors. 1) It has a magnetic connection which can corrode if you don't look after. 2) The camera unit weighs only 51g which is great, you can leave it on your helmet, and you won't feel the extra weight at all (unlike on a bigger gopro). But it only has 21 gb built in memory. For 4k resolution, this is not much space. 3) You need the screen/battery unit with a memory card slot to record longer videos and it has a way better microphone. So even though you can use it as a really lightweight camera, you are forced to use the whole unit. The whole unit has a remarkable stack height. It is a lot taller than a normal action cam. 4) The DJI phone app was really bad. As bad as the gopro app. Fortunately they released a new version and it connects to the cam and doesn't close itself. I have no infos about newer dji stuff. It seems like they adressed those former design flaws. I hope I don't need to replace my cam, because it was a sh1tl04d of money. The image quality is mindblowing. I used the first gopro in 2017. Half of my footages were so shaky they instantly ended up in trash. If you compare the 2017 vs 2022 technology, I would say, it worthed every penny.

Exciting to have something new, but obviously we will have to see what the image quality is and how it handles rough treatment. If it can be as sturdy as my action2s and have some more dynamic range (my biggest issue with the a2) it could be a winner even at that price point.

It works but you'll have decreased handling and flight time. Slow cruising is fine. I'd recommend an Action 2 or Insta360 Go2 (or Go3). You won't even notice they're there.
