"I need my cameras to be all weatherproof and drop resistant, just rugged and durable."

"I like that’s its waterproof"

"I recorded around 1TB of video with my GoPro and didn't have any issues ... My Hero 10 overheated only once and I had it recording for like 20 minutes in like 40°C weather."

"I have the t housing power case. It fits the GoPro plus the digi refuel battery pack and the case goes down to 800 ft (or something like that l, forgot the actual number since I ain't never going that deep anyway). It has magnetic red filters and magnetic macro lense I can easily pop on and off during the dive as needed"

"The biggest advantage of the GoPro it's the sheer number of accesories available. ... Every mount you need like for cars, motorcycles, mountain bikes, etc... You will find it easy for GoPros."

"I also like the various options for harnesses and mounts since it’s a well known brand."

"My hero 10 will record for hours connected to constant power and never bat a lense in heat lol"

"I need my cameras to be all weatherproof and drop resistant, just rugged and durable."

"The 10 doesn't have freezing issues, it was the first camera to use the GP2 processor and it is a rock solid camera."

"they dont DELETE YOUR FOOTAGE FOR NO REASON ... from the hero -until the 12 black every single one at one point or another simply corrupted/deleted a whole days of videos. ... i will not give GoPro another single $ until they figure out wtf happens where it corrupts/deletes videos. its a useless camera if it cant save a video."

"Refreshing to see that action camera can actually be reliable and not crash and overheat all the time ... Gopro has always had a lot of overheating issues, corrupt files, crashing issues, super unresponsive UI, and horrible battery life. ... Constantly got those issues with gopro."

"The first one I had started powering off due to "low battery" when the batteries were fully charged. ... It was replaced (at a cost because it was just over 1 year old), and the replacement is doing the same thing."

"I bought the go pro 10 last year for the Maldives with the go pro underwater case and after I’d bought it I’d read about overheating so I changed all the settings - cut off lots of the functionality and reduced the frame rates etc and it still kept cutting out. ... I had mine on 2.7k and lots of the functionality switch off and mind kept overheating in the Maldives"

"I have a GoPro 10 and it’s really really shitty in low light."

"The gopros will do good if you oversaturate the dive with bright lights, but then your negatively affecting your videos. Night life will stay away, or you'll blind a aggressive barracuda or turtle, etc... ... I'm kinda giving up on GoPro. They just won't make a bigger sensor camera for low light improvement and seem to be getting passed up by their competitors."

"My GoPro 10 is significantly darker and grainer than my DJI action 5. ... Anything outside of the light beam, video or spot, is just so dark on my old GoPro 10 or whichever I have."

I have a Hero 7 Silver and a Hero 10 Black I bought last weekend. I used the 10 to make a running video yesterday and I can’t believe how much better the stabilization is. It’s an amazing camera so I’d say that’s my favorite.

I have the GoPro 10 and I really like it for snorkeling and freediving but it has many flaws that the GoPro 13 still has: - The battery lasts half as long as the competition - If it gets hot it turns off and heats up very easily - The app is garbage, I have been paying 50 euros a year since I bought it just for the cloud storage but it is very slow to upload and download files or simply view them even if you are connected to the router by cable. - The competition uses some improvements like automatic color correction with AI (insta360) which really works amazing for diving videos - Automatic GoPro videos are simply taking random pieces of several clicks and putting meaningless music on them - They don't pay attention to the forum or anything you tell them to improve, m. The heating problems have been going on since the first GoPro and something as simple as letting you choose the cover of a video by choosing a frame from the video itself does not let you do it. Anyway, you send them ideas to improve and they don't respond. Honestly, in a few years I will change cameras and go to the competition if GoPro doesn't improve and it doesn't look like it will do so.

Despite some popular opinions on here. I really like my GoPro Hero 10 Black. Being new to scuba, focus on the diving and less on the camera. It can easily distract you from buoyancy, safety, your group, etc. Not speaking from a high horse here as I’m also fairly new. And I’ve caught myself being distracted by it. I now carry it to capture the really amazing stuff and less about trying to be a insta-scuba-hoe. (I’m a fat white guy, so no hopes there)

[Youtube referentie](https://youtube.com/@blogisodespresents?feature=shared)

I use a GoPro 10 camera and a DJI Osmo Action 4. Both have good stabilization, and the 4K 60fps footage is incredible. You can see the results on my YouTube channel. [https://youtube.com/@alaingsadventure?si=wGhYaHDucA12cWZG](https://youtube.com/@alaingsadventure?si=wGhYaHDucA12cWZG)

I have a GoPro 10 and I recently bought a DJI Osmo Action 4, and frankly, the image quality of the Action 4 is superior, even with the same 4K 60fps settings. Not to mention how easy it is to add wireless microphones!

Yeah it is overkill. Overkill in both price and features because though they’re great as action cameras, you don’t need the stabilization, high frame rates, and rugged design for your casual travel videos mate. If you really want one, you can get an older GoPro (Hero 9, 10, or 11) if you find a good deal since they still have solid stabilization and decent built-in mics (still relatively heavy when clipped to a cap, and after 30 minutes, you might feel the strain honestly) I’d suggest you check on the Insta360 GO 3, it’s tiny, weighs only 35g, and comes with a magnetic clip that can be attached to a cap more comfortably than a bulky GoPro. Otherwise, you could also check on the DJI Osmo Action 4 or Akaso Brave 7 LE too, all decent prices for your use case. You could try [10 Best Action Cameras to Invest in 2025: Full Guide and Review](https://alaskanarrows.com/10-best-action-cameras-to-invest-in-2025/) for other options too. Tldr: GoPro overkill, Insta360 more appropriate, can consider getting an older GoPro like the 9,10 or 11 if you can get a good price

Yes, I regularly do night photography with my GoPros - Hero10 through 13, as well as 360 cameras. But I want to stress that your subject needs to also be stationary - it’s not like you can film wildlife with this approach. But if you’re just trying to capture trees or landscapes, depending on how much moon & starlight you have, this might work fine. Can you give more detail about the types of images you want to capture?

Hero 8, 9, 10 user here. Go for Insta360. But if you’re looking between GoPro and dji, go for dji. In other news, I’m looking to sell my hero 10, if anyone is interested (Kolkata or vicinity) let me know. I’ve got all accessories and a boatload of additional stuff for it. Asking for 20k.

Been using a GP Hero10 for 2 years and haven't really had any issues so long as its in the dive housing. Color gets a bit distorted sometimes but general use and image stabilization has had some great shots. I usually just shoot a few seconds of video and snip a still out of it if I want a still shot.

I have a GoPro 10 and it’s really really shitty in low light. Audio is also pretty bad. Works great under ideal conditions but if I still made videos I’d be looking for a newer camera.
