"they dont DELETE YOUR FOOTAGE FOR NO REASON ... from the hero -until the 12 black every single one at one point or another simply corrupted/deleted a whole days of videos. ... i will not give GoPro another single $ until they figure out wtf happens where it corrupts/deletes videos. its a useless camera if it cant save a video."

"this one errors saying the bin is full, it's not full I just saw and heard it empty out. ... The fix we are using is to force the unit to empty the bin via the app, once that happens it goes oh yeah we're good and starts vacuuming again. ... It turns a 2 hour job into a 6 hour job as we're not sitting here waiting to mash buttons that we shouldn't have to. ... There is nowhere in the app or web portal where you can force a firmware download, I think it's what this unit needs."

Love the rs one. Its a good form factor and quality is acceptable. Obviously would have liked it to be upgraded more but that doesnt look like its on the cards from Insta360

No doubt, but as i’m using for CRW, i really don’t want long protruding snag happy form factor. So the form factor works inside a Adrenaline workshop mount.

I recently purchased an older Insta360 action cam, the One RS Twin Edition. It's modular, and shoots both regular flat video and 360 degree video. At the time it offered more versatility than a GoPro. And I believe generally you get "more" for your money with Insta360. They've got free mobile and desktop software that is relatively easy to use, if at times a bit frustrating. My overall impression (not having used GoPro but having done enough research for my immediate needs) is that Insta360 is better for those don't care about a lot of professional options and settings etc. But GoPro seems to have superior functionality if you want better results and are willing to learn how to get them. That being said, as a professional, Insta360 is lacking in a lot of ways that I think a power user won't find acceptable. My next purchase will be GoPro.

I have a One RS Twin edition. I was pretty disappointed on how videos with the 360 lens turned out after they were "flattened." I don't have a specific recommendation for you, but I would recommend going with something that shoots in 8K for the highest possible resolution after it's converted into a non-360 video.

There are a few options: Insta360 Twin RS and X5, plus Action 5 have been amazing for me. For car mounting I have tried a few things: Neewer 6" Suction mount CA013 + Neewer Magic Arm ST16 and any phone mount for a battery bank and you can record for hours. You will want to mount the action camera with a magic arm that has arri pins as those cannot become lose. The other regular magic arms with just a 1/4" thread they can become loose or spin out of position with vibration and other forces. I also recommend strapping in your mount with either rope or belt as an extra precaution. Suction cups can lose suction from heat buildup. If the camera is mounted externally and on a moving vehicle, you won't experience much overheating if any. I have had action cameras overheat inside my car though, but so far my Action 5 has yet to overheat and my X5 overheated after over an hour. At work, we use GoPro 11s and 12s and I cannot recommend a GoPro. They are great with video quality, but they overheat so quickly. At work I can't get more than 30 minutes out of them before I see the warning. Do no recommend GoPro, unless you do something like surfing or skiing where it will have better luck with cooling. I do not have an Osmo Mobile 3 so I cannot comment on that, but note that its not weather sealed, so be careful mounting it externally, even on clear skies. Cold weather and rapid cooling from air can cause condensation to build up. I've had it build up on my X5 and Twin RS when mounted externally, but they are weather sealed, so no problems. Lastly, I do recommend NDs. Get a kit with 8, 32, 64, and 128 if you can. The ND2 and 4 are hardly dark enough to make a meaningful change.

Insta360 or DJI action cam. The current crop of go pro cameras need to have the heavy duty (white) batteries and often will shut off due to the battery vibrating and the camera thinking it is overheating. My favorite for all around view is insta360 rs one with 360 module. It's discontinued, but great quality and size. The DJI action is great and usually on sale. For 4k the insta360 rs pro. PS, you don't need to respond to this comment and tell me your go pro works fine. I own 3-12 blacks, 6-11 blacks, a few 10s and I'm almost rid of all my 9s finally. I do video coaching and use them extensively, all run dev firmware.... I own 4 of the rs ones, 2 rs pros, 3-action 4s, an action 5 and 2 aim smartycam 3 units.

DJI Osmo Action 5, GoPro hero 11 or higher, or my personal favorite, an Insta360 One RS. The One RS is cool because it can do traditional action camera shots but also can do 360 footage if you get the right bundle.

look at the Insta OneRS - pretty old now so you should get a good deal or find second hand. It has two lenses, one 360, the other 2d. Example here: [https://youtu.be/6u5SG5iJnQY?si=G\_cBMNKEKA1SQUaG](https://youtu.be/6u5SG5iJnQY?si=G_cBMNKEKA1SQUaG) \- make sure you have switched Youtube to highest quality setting! Other thing to consider is how to wear it when kite surfing. Helmet mount best betbut if you don't wear a helmet then this is a whole other thread for 360 camera positioning Lenses will scratch but i seem to remember Insta offering overlays - but may have dreamt that

tl;dr: Look for something with a big sensor like the Insta360 1 RS. Details... If you want to know a bit about cameras that might help pick something (assuming you might not be a camera nerd): the graininess in low light is because the sensor in the camera (the thing that literally captures the image) isn't getting enough light, so it does some signal processing to boost the dark image it does get to make a picture for you. Same idea as when you try to up the gain on a low quality audio signal and the noise boosts. The thing that controls how much light the camera gets it the aperture and the sensor - so, if you want high quality low light footage, you need a camera with a bigger aperture and a bigger sensor. Tough part - small action cameras have small sensors and small aperture (literally they're just physically smaller)... so they're always working without much signal in low light. Thus, even the good ones are going to be a bit grainy. iPhones have pretty good algorithms for boosting the low light signal, so they work better, but never as good as a full-size camera. I've got a Nikon D3400 - an older DSLR camera - and shooting video on it with a big aperture lens is miles better than any action camera I've seen. I've set it up on a tripod for booth footage before. Definitely more involved than using an action camera though. So I think it comes down to how professional you need this to be. Most action cameras are going to be better at recovering a decent picture from a low light signal, but it's always going to suffer a bit from garbage in - garbage out because the aperture and sensor are so small. Despite what their marketing says :)

I went with the RS One for the form factor. Quality wise, it’s okay. It isn’t cinema quality but it splices much more seamless than the GoPro 360. And it does have an interchangeable lens if you just want front facing. I haven’t tried that lens yet, as I really like being able to catch my opening on vid. I’ve got it on a snag free mount from adrenaline workshop. I have a buddy using the x5 on a Mohawk mount. But something about the positioning of the two lens being pointed to the left/right causes a weird center merge effect of things right in front of you. If that makes any sense? Like…it makes your head/face look squished together. Like your eyeballs are touching lol I’m not a camera person so idk how to explain it. Some new stuff from dji and go pro is coming out so those could be good options too.

Ik zou als ik nu een nieuwe camera zou kopen gaan voor de action 5 met de dji mic. Werken perfect samen hooge kwaliteit audio en hoge kwaliteit beeld. Maar mijn insta360 one RS is nog steed goed genoeg!
