"how quiet it is. ... it's remained silent at night after a couple of years."

"the only ones whose fans have stayed smooth and quiet. ... i have owned 8 over 5-6 years at least without one single issue."

"I like BlueAir because they’re quiet ... Been running a 211 (kitchen/family room) and 411 (bedroom) continuously without turning them off since 2020 and both still operate as new."

"actually improved my symptoms unlike the levoit"

"Of those 4, the BlueAir 211+ is a powerhouse. ... the BlueAir 211+ cleans more air than anything but a Coway 400 or a Smart Air Blast"

"I personally have 2 blueair they work great I have 2 cats and my thanksgiving guests couldn’t smell them or their litterbox at all!"

"Both make a dramatic and perceptible difference in air quality. ... I can now paint my nails in the house and not choke out anyone who enters the room, or risk giving the cat (or myself) brain damage."

"happy to hear from guests our house doesn’t have a dog smell."

"They're incredible and the best thing is that they have this washable cloth sleeve (pre filter) that goes over the entire intake which happens to wrap all the way around. ... It does such a good job that the actual internal filter stays significantly cleaner and doesn't need to be cleaned or changed as often. ... It's a game changer."

"Love the washable outside fabric filter"

"The nice thing is most of their residential models offer a washable outer layer and the box includes a second so you can wash one while using the other."

"I have a blueair 211+ which i paid 400$ for and the filters are about 80$ each (changed once every 6 months) ... the price of the filters is as much as another small purifier lmao."

"my only complaint is the filters are pricey and they’re often sold out during allergy and wildflower season. ... you can’t find them on their website or amazon or anywhere. ... and the generic ones are garbage."

"Years ago, I bought (an awesome) BlueAir HEPA air purifier from Costco and they no longer sell the replacement filters."

"I don’t like they have an ionizer that you can’t disable. ... Ionizers create ozone, and when ozone reacts with different molecules it creates all kinds of new compounds that can’t be predicted."

"As much as I like the looks and such, I also want them to actually filter the air. ... I seriously can't find ANY data on how they actually filter. ... I did read somewhere about an H12 rating on the filters, but that's it."

"Although you'll find complaints it doesn't use a "real" HEPA filter"

I have 2, after spending too much time picking them out, love them both. Silent functioning, strong de-smelling (we don’t have a kitchen hood and cook a lot) and visual fit in our rooms were the important considerations. Blue Air Blue Pure 211+ has been working without a hitch for four and half years now. Got it when the smoke from fires was unbearable around here. Love the washable outside fabric filter, and changing the inner (expensive but not often needed) inner filter is a piece of cake. https://www.blueair.com/us/shop/air-purifiers (They don’t seem to make this same model but plenty other choices) https://cowaymega.com/products/airmega-230 has been working beautifully about a year now. Easy to clean prefilter, love the functionality and ability to turn the light indicators off. I don’t get sick any more.

We have 3 air purifiers (one in the main space, one in my bedroom, one in the basement)- necessary when you have a Berner and 6 cats lol. The big main spaces ones are blueair blue 211+s- they're amazing, the covers are machine washable and they're super quiet. My room one is just a little one from ikea lol- also works great, but is definitely for a small room only.

Blue Air is great. The nice thing is most of their residential models offer a washable outer layer and the box includes a second so you can wash one while using the other. This helps catch a lot of big stuff and I change the inner filter only annually. OP - no purifier removes all dust. Cleaning the source of dust is always the most effective. Still, an air purifier, especially oversized for the room and run at a good speed (I do max overnight and just a tad slower in the day) helps get the remainder.

Coway and BlueAir are great. Make sure it says "True HEPA," unless you build a corsi-rosenthal box Levoit ones aren't always true hepa.

I have one and think it is worth $50. I got it at Blueair and it was on sale for $300 or so off. It's a very expensive air purifier and three filters are need. If you want odor control, too, you must get the [Classic 500/600 Series DualProtection Filter](https://www.blueair.com/products/500-600-series-dualprotection), as opposed to the filters that just clean the room. They range from $120-150 for three, depending on where you buy them online. The Blueair website even has a subscription plan where you get a discount for subscribing. I'm using it in a foyer which is connected to a living room and dining room, and it works fine. The foyer is right off the breakfast nook and kitchen, and it does an excellent job eliminating cooking smells that drift into the foyer and can travel upstairs. The first two speeds are quiet, but the third highest speed is very, very loud. I also have the Blueair 211+ and 211 Auto in other rooms and really like them, too. If I need air purifiers in the future, I will always buy Blueair.

I bought the BlueAir 211+ (I think it is, large rectangular thing) because of its energy efficiency and how quiet it is. The pre-filter is easily removed and washed, and it's remained silent at night after a couple of years. Also, it wasn't expensive and it looks somewhat inoffensive. I would far prefer the IKEA style hang-on-the-wall or side table type that wouldn't take up as much space, but I haven't read any actual reviews suggesting they're good.

Air purifiers don't do a whole lot for asthma (^(*the studies I saw were from a couple of years ago, so if new evidence is out, please link it so I can update my knowledge*)), but a good air filter will attract dust mites and cat hair and other stuff. Check your allergy tests to see what it is you're allergic to, and ensure your air filter will capture it. The biggest key to one of these working is air flow. If you run it on 'low', it won't work well at all. If you have gaps/air leaks around windows and doors, it won't work well. If you own your own house, you can install a filtration system tied to your HVAC - that way you can often get good airflow without all the noise of a fan in your bedroom. If not, you're bound by the room air filters. Anyway, I settled on a BlueAir 211+ because of energy efficiency, and while it's annoying to be in the same room when it's at full speed, it's not as bad as some other units. The Winix C545 (I think they were) were noisier and used more electricity.

I had a couple of Winix... uhh... C545, I think the models were, in the house in Texas. They collected a huge amount of dust every month, which is dust that is NOT deposited in the house. I'm not sure it made that much of a difference in the house, given that Texas has a LOT of shit in the air. Now that I'm in a cleaner environment (Seattle), I ended up with a BlueAir 211+ (cheaper HEPA filters, lower energy consumption for something that runs 24/7, and of course, excellent filtration by all tests), and it doesn't clog up as much, but I still notice that I dust the house less when I run it. Also, it's amusing (or terrifying) to see the blue light (good air) turn red (bad air) when I make bacon in the kitchen. I can't tell if the air is better - it doesn't smell different or anything. I just noticed a bit less dust on shelves and tables, etc. That also means less dust in the carpets when I vacuum.

All this is why I ended up with a BlueAir 211+, and so far I haven't been disappointed.

We like Blue Air. Highly rated and reasonably priced. The filters aren't cheap, but there are non-oem available on Amazon for a reasonable price. They last about a year. We have had the big 121 model for at least 7 or 8 years and it is still going strong. Also have a 211+ for about 4 years and a 211 for 5 years. No problems with any of them. Bought daughter Medify. She likes it and uses it constantly because she lives in center city Philly. She has had it a few years with no problems. Lots of good choices.

I had bought one of these for my mom. They work ok. I’ve used several other brands including Dyson, blue air, and iRobot’s aeris. Blue 211 by blue air is the best one I’ve used. Don’t buy from them directly as they have terrible customer service. That’s the risk with them. Aeris units are difficult to get filters for but have comparable performance to the blue units. Dyson air purifiers are terrible with dust and fur. They are the best for smells.

duct tape a 20x20 furnace filter to a box fan. Won't find a cheaper effective air purifier. i used 1000merv for it. I have a blueair 211+ which i paid 400$ for and the filters are about 80$ each (changed once every 6 months) and the furnace filter boxfan combo is almost as effective. Really almost the same thing as the blueair minus the carbon filter. I have asthma from a auto-immune condition, and even grease from cooking messes me up, but i just keep the boxfan combo in the kitchen area and is a massive difference. Can also get the furnace filters for dirt cheap any time other then winter. (since thats when most people boot their furnace up and actually need the filters, so the price goes up because of demand.) I paid 50 for a hurricane brand boxfan brand new because that was what was recommended and 20$ for a 4x pack of merv 1000 furnace filters. honestly can prob use any fan though and likely can get them dirt cheap at a local 2nd hand store for like 15$ and been plenty. I actually have been considering selling my blueair and just getting a bunch of box fans/furnace filters. Fans are cheap and the filters are cheap, for the price of my blueair i could of had 10 box fan combos going in every room and still had cash to spare AND better quality air. TBF though, they do look like shit in comparison to a actual solution. I will also add that IMO, levoits products are useless. had some really bad experiences with their products breaking fast and not really providing much help in air quality

When i did it, i really didn't think it would work as well as it does. I still prefer my 4-500$ blueair 211+ because it has a fabric filter and carbon combo, but at the same time, the price of the filters is as much as another small purifier lmao. i will say though, its not pretty at all, but I breath ALOT better with 1 purfier in my kitchen and one in my room. the boxfan one stays in the kitchen because the filters are cheap lol

Personally i have asthma and have 2-3 levoits in a short period which i found didnt work well, and then 2 broke within warrenty period, and just switched to something better. Even when it running as intended, i just found their filters didnt do much of anything to help, IMO owned [LV-PUR131S](https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07NR9KL8J/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and it broke within a month, rmaed, broke within year warrenty again, refunded and got a blueair 211+, actually improved my symptoms unlike the levoit, also just use boxfan+furnace filter and imo is way more effective then levoits purifier for less then a 1/4 the cost [https://www.reddit.com/r/AirPurifiers/comments/1hi2izu/comment/m2vrhtz/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web3x&utm\_name=web3xcss&utm\_term=1&utm\_content=share\_button](https://www.reddit.com/r/AirPurifiers/comments/1hi2izu/comment/m2vrhtz/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
