"They're incredible and the best thing is that they have this washable cloth sleeve (pre filter) that goes over the entire intake which happens to wrap all the way around. ... It does such a good job that the actual internal filter stays significantly cleaner and doesn't need to be cleaned or changed as often. ... It's a game changer."

"Blueair imo because they have washable prefilters, and pet hair and dander is large and honestly doesn't need HEPA filters to clear it out the way, say, smoke does."

"The outer pre-filters do put up a lot of dust and I can throw them in the wash."

"I don’t like they have an ionizer that you can’t disable. ... Ionizers create ozone, and when ozone reacts with different molecules it creates all kinds of new compounds that can’t be predicted."

"OTOH, the two Blueair purifiers are on all the time and we have ***not*** noticed a decrease in the rate at which dust accumulates on the woodwork in the house."

"Maalikabok pa rin kahit super sealed yung unit."

We have this one in our bedroom https://www.blueair.com/us/shop/air-purifiers/blue-pure-311i-max/3539.html Blue Pure 311i Max for medium rooms! Looking online it looks like they've updated the model a little bit, but looks to be relatively the same! The filter we have on auto subscription is for this one too so couldn't have changed too much. We got the Pure 511 version for our nursery though since it's a pretty small room.

I got this Blue Air one that had high ratings on consumer reports. It sits next to the LR3 between it and the door to our hall. I don’t smell anything. BLUEAIR Air Purifiers for Bedroom... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08KPJCDN6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Same. It rated really high on Consumer Reports so I got one for my cats room (litter box is also in there) and then one for my bedroom.

It’s fine. I have two. Plus a 211+. I don’t need the most perfect air purifier in existence I just need something that works well enough and it’s $800.

BlueAir not having true HEPA and just a HEPA-type filter is fine. Multiple official testing sources show them pushing benchmarks similar to other true hepa rated units by popular brands. They still pull dust and still filter air just fine. They do have an ionizer and do produce extremely minuscule amounts of ozone. That’s why they’re certified. However, they are (especially the 511) weak units with a low CADR. If you want better performance, definitely return for a different unit or a stronger BlueAir model like the 211

I’m anti-Levoit right now after previously being a fan of their stuff - I had a Levoit Core 300 that developed a fan whine after a year. Went through the RMA process and they sent me a new one, which developed the same noise within a few months. I have several larger Honeywell purifiers throughout the house which have lasted several years, just wanted a smaller one for this smaller less-used room - been running a Blueair 511 in there for the past 6 months and it seems good so far, and very quiet.

Their CADR is in cubic meters per hour, where most purifiers specify CADR in CFM (cubic feet per minute). Multiple this by about .59 to change to CFM, so it's claiming \~250 cfm. (It's actually 264.) Most air purifiers at this price point (the blueair 411/511, the levoit core 200s) have a CADR of 100-150 CFM. 100 is actually sufficient for the room size (160 square feet) you're mentioning. If it's too good to be true and there's no information about them anywhere, then it usually is :)

I mean.... I mentioned the part about them having no reviews and being at a sketchily low price point of 1/2 to 2/3 the cost of everyone else. There are really only a handful of air purifier brands that have demonstrated reliability, affordability, and effectiveness over several years, and don't dabble in post-apocalyptic/steampunk decor -- coway, levoit, blue air, winix. If you want to pay more, there's iq air, alen air, and a few others. For $110, you could have bought a blue air 511 and almost a 411, a levoit 300, almost a Levoit Vital 100s, or a Winix a231. The winix 5500, the coway 1512, levoit vital 200, and the blueair 311 are all at this CADR, but for closer to $200.

i love my blueair. i have two cats, one is as floofy as they come, and it keeps up easily. the outside cover is machine washable and i wash it every time i do laundry. my only complaint is the filters are pricey and they’re often sold out during allergy and wildflower season. you can’t find them on their website or amazon or anywhere. and the generic ones are garbage. i’ve learned to keep a couple extra on hand.

Made this small flowchart for a friend who kept sneezing through spring but wouldn’t commit to buying an air purifier Step 1: Identify the enemy Is it pollen? Dust? Pet dander? The ghost of springtime past? Yes, yes, and probably yes. Step 2: Must have criteria for air purifier \- can it actually trap allergens? \- won’t sound like a jet engine in baby’s room? \- easy on maintenance? \- doesn’t cost the soul of your firstborn? (ironic but important) Step 3: I went down the rabbit hole Compared Coway vs Levoit vs Dyson vs Honeywell vs one that looked like a spaceship BUT... nothing could compare to [blueair air purifier](https://rantsreviews.com/dp-B073WJL99W) \- Covers big spaces (so your nursery + more = chill) \- HEPASilent tech is real — gets dust, mold, pollen, pet funk, all of it \- Washable pre filter = less guilt about killing the planet \- Doesn’t wheeze like a dying robot at 2am \- Design lowkey slaps too Step 4: Baby sleeps better. You sneeze less. Partner doesn’t threaten to move to the forest. Life improves. You win!!!

We run 3 in our house, one in the main living area (diy pc fan with hvac filters), and one in each bedroom (blue air brand or something, I think). Also consider plastic on leaky windows (cheap sliders).
