"Prior to the air purifiers the kids n wife would always have allergies n congestion/cough for what seemed like year round. ... My wife would have to pop Benadryl till it knocked her out. ... Slowly I started putting the air purifiers in each room, vacuuming the pre filter every time we vacuum the floors and they’ve gotten so much better since then. ... It’s been several years at this point. ... They still have the allergy fits every once n a while but it’s a lot less frequent."
"this thing has been amazing!!! ... I have two kids with seasonal allergies and this thing has been amazing!!!"
"A Coway AirMega in the classroom was how I survived a couple bad wildfire years. It made an enormous difference."

"We’ve also had terrible Smokey days from the Canadian wildfires in my area and when I last replaced my filter, it was almost black so it was working hard!"
"The sensors are amazing. ... Yes whenever I cook or smoke they instantly kick on and work really well."

"Last year there were wildfires nearby and the airmega kicked itself into high gear (I keep it on auto), so I do really trust that it’s actually doing something."
"The sensors are amazing. ... Yes whenever I cook or smoke they instantly kick on and work really well."
"great to put it on eco mode , as it detects poor air quality it automatically switches modes to higher setting and shows it as purple or red and once air is back to being good it goes back to eco mode and shows blue."

"All of the conventional options recommended won’t cut it if you’re being serious. ... I have a few coway airmegas and blueairs and they don’t do much for real VOCs/smoke. ... My airmega has like 1lb of carbon, I’d recommend an allerair- I’ve got two airmedic 6 pro and the difference is remarkable. I think they have 25+ lbs of carbon."

"so are Coway and Blue Air when you add up the cumulative price of filters. ... And, I find I need filter replacements much more often than recommended further increasing the cost."
"the filter costs have you replacing filters every 3 or 4 months with full use."
"DO not buy their filters directly from them - way overpriced"
I would avoid Dyson purifiers. Their Clean Air Delivery Rates (CADRs) are too low. The standard rule is that CADRs should be *at minimum* 2/3 of your room's area (assuming at 8 feet or 2.4 meters high ceiling). With a baby and high pollution levels, it would be wise to increase CADRs well beyond this rule. The next issue is sound levels. According to a *Pediatrics* article, the "recommended noise limit for infants in \[USA\] hospital nurseries" is 50 dBA (decibels A-weighted).^(1) Many air purifiers exceed this threshold on their higher or highest speed settings. To compound the problem, many sound level specifications do not match real world sound output. Purifiers are often louder in your home than what the brand states. Air purifier CADRs are greatly reduced on the quieter lower settings. This would be inadequate for a high pollution environment. Therefore I would recommend buying *multiple* air purifiers and running them at a middle speed setting. Using a [sound level meter](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound_level_meter) would give you an exact measurement as to actual decibel levels for each speed. My first recommendation in terms of brands would be **Coway**. They offer higher quality than Philips, Dyson, or Levoit and ensure availability of filters for discontinued models (from what I've heard online). Models could be: * [Coway AirMega 150](https://cowayindia.in/coway-airmega-150) air purifiers: ₹13,900 each \[purchase 3 units\] * [Coway AirMega Storm](https://cowayindia.in/coway-airmega-storm) air purifiers: ₹24,900 each \[purchase 2 units\] You may need to ask Coway about CADRs for each speed setting on the purifier you want to purchase. I'm American, so unfortunately I have no familiarity with vendors or retailers of Coway purifiers in India. The Coway AirMega Storm may be out of stock or no longer on sale. Other considerations: * [Philips Smart Air Purifier (AC4221/61)](https://www.domesticappliances.philips.co.in/air-purifier/ac4221-61): ₹23,399 each on [Amazon India](https://www.amazon.in/Philips-AC4221-Purifier-Display-Allergen/dp/B0DB83DSSJ/) \[purchase 2 units\]. Someone claimed in this subreddit that Philips may not ensure filter availability for discontinued purifier models. For the [Levoit Core 300S](https://www.amazon.in/Purifier-Particles-Warranty-Indicator-compatible/dp/B08L73QL1V), I would purchase *three* of these units due to the lower CADR (240 m³/h). ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ^(1)Article cited is Hugh et al., "Infant Sleep Machines and Hazardous Sound Pressure Levels" in *Pediatrics*, (April 2014), Permalink: [https://doi.org/10.1542/peds.2013-3617](https://doi.org/10.1542/peds.2013-3617)
r/AirPurifiers • Need air purifier suggestion for baby in Mumbai, India. ->I have the Coway Storm and Jet. Can’t really hear them on medium speed, slight noise on high.
r/AirPurifiers • Stop buying True HEPA / HEPA H13 air purifiers ->I moved my Coway Airmega into the nursery and its night mode is whisper quiet while cutting dust and pollen.
r/moderatelygranolamoms • What are the Best Air Purifier for Allergies? ->If aesthetics and noise levels are important to you, Coway ProX for the main living space (assuming it’s large-ish) and any Coway “medium spaces” unit (use their website to filter) for the Bedroom. Total ~$1k. If aesthetics and noise levels are not important, two AirFanta 3Pro, run on Medium-High, about $400. If aesthetics are not important but noise is, four AirFanta 3Pro, run on Low or Medium-Low, about $800. If your budget is a little flexible and you want the highest CADR with the smallest footprint and lowest noise, a SMART AIR BLAST - MKII for the main living space (about $1,100) and any Coway “medium spaces” unit. Total, about $1,500.
r/Masks4All • What's the best air purifier for home? ->Buy the Coway air mega it usually goes on sale pretty often. 10/10
r/CleaningTips • Air Purifier sucking dust in my room ->If I’d known about Austin Air when I bought my Coway Air Mega and Blue Air, I would’ve definitely picked Austin Air and I may still get one. It’s pricey, but so are Coway and Blue Air when you add up the cumulative price of filters. And, I find I need filter replacements much more often than recommended further increasing the cost.
r/BuyItForLife • Home air purifier. Especially those good for people with allergies ->Coway has a better reputation than the models Costco carries. Love our Air Mega. Bought directly from Coway at a steep discount. Just have to wait for sales.
