"I recently found out I have a bunch of allergies- including my dog, so I got these Winix units to try and help combat the allergies. ... Within about 45 minutes of running one in my living room, part of my nose that has been clogged for as long as I can remember opened up. I’m breathing better than I have in years."
"I can tell you they really work. I have a mold allergy, and mold is literally everywhere in outdoor or indoor air with spores just waiting to land in a suitable environment for growth, but I have no symptoms at home with my two small Winix."
"They are also great to have during annual west coast wild fire smoke season and keep particulates in the house undetectable even when it has been horrid outside."

"you can run constantly if the air is really polluted. ... I have very bad asthma and it was able to clean my house air during forest fire season. It worked so so well."

"They do a good job of removing smoke from the room."
"They work wonderfully and I definitely feel the difference since I have cat and dust mite allergies. If the purifier hasn’t been running for a few days my nose gets runny & I start sneezing again."

"never had any issues with odor! ... Helps for dust as well."
"Definitely makes a difference. ... We had a lot of new construction dust, including red dirt. Also dog hair. ... I notice I don't spend nearly as much time cleaning, there's far less dust in the air and my electronics and TVs stay much cleaner."
"as far as the dog smell- none! ... Very impressed with levoit"

"how quiet it is. ... it's remained silent at night after a couple of years."
"it runs 24/7 for more than 5 years and works great and silently."
"That said my IQ Air at level 2 is damn near silent. ... At its lowest setting (level 1), it achieves complete silence, making it ideal for bedroom use. ... When operated at level 2, while the sound becomes noticeable from the bed, it produces a different type of noise than the Levoit models - specifically, it lacks the characteristic "wooshing" sound that Levoit units tend to make. Sleeping with the unit at level 2 is still comfortable."

"the medify one sounds horrible- it has a weird high pitch and i can’t stand it even on the very lowest setting. ... i actually sent it back and they replaced it and the second one sounds the same."
"The only smaller air purifier I have is the $200 Conway in my kitchen. Its like a jet engine when on high speed. That's OK when I've burnt something. But there is no way people are running it at that noise level in general use."
"And it’s noisy as hell when I kick it up a notch."

"About a year and the right bud would last about 15 minutes on a full charge."
"I've had them for a few years and now the battery doesn't last for more than 40 mins, so looking for a different model."
"And then during a race in September the mid sole of one pulled right off with less than 200 km on them."

"It does not have a hepa filter. ... Amazon tricked me as well. There's a whole scandal about Levoit advertising as hepa when they are not"
"The coverage rating is misleading marketing my Levoit. The 1,718 sq. ft. is at 1 Air Change per Hour (ACH). You need a bare minimum of 4.8 - 5 ACH."
"I got upset when I found out my 4 levoit core 300 were not hepa lol."

"Mind you, the filters are astronomically expensive, and you will need to replace them way more frequently than what’s suggested."
"My new filter just arrived today and I noticed the weight of it was lighter than the previous replacement filter I was using. ... You can see right through where the charcoal beads are that it’s not even filled up all the way like before, so $99 for half the charcoal."
"It will clean air at first but it is cheap and the filter cost will add up over time. The lack of real pre-filters really kills these things."

"The "Core" series (round ones) are definitively NOT HEPA. ... They still clean air, but if the certification is important to you, they definitely failed to get certified and misled their customers."
"buying a levoit 600s (which isn’t great) ... Better airflow and I have independent sensors that verify better reduction in particles"
"I got upset when I found out my 4 levoit core 300 were not hepa lol."
Love my levoit ones
LEVOIT Air Purifiers for Home... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09BJMY8HL?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share I have two smaller ones too for small rooms. And I've bought a medium size for my mom's place. You should get one that's appropriate for the size of your space.
I just ordered 2 of the Levoit 600S-P.
Air purifiers work remarkably well. We have a cat and dog and I sometimes suffer a bit with cat hair giving me a persistent sickly cough. I bought a small Levoit air purifier for the bedroom and was amazed at how much better I slept at night. I ended up buying a larger whole house air purifier, (same brand). On a normal setting they run silently and barely use any energy. Not sure about other brands but the Levoit purifiers have reusable filters which you just take out and vacuum clean every week or so. I'd buy one if the single room air purifiers and see if it makes a difference. As far as visiting other people's homes, there's not much you can do about it.
The absolute most important number is the Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) Your goal should be to supply a high enough rate of clean air to clean the air in your space at LEAST 6 times per hour. A general rule of thumb to follow is you want the ratio between Cubic feet per minute of clean air (or CFM) and the square footage of a space to be 2/3. So if you have a 150 square foot room, you want an air purifier with at least 100 CFM Both of the units you mentioned have around the same CADR at their highest setting (important to note that most people don't leave their purifiers at the highest setting as that will be loud) so you should go with whichever or is cheaper. However, there are some other options within your budget, such as other brands that might be higher CADR or buying multiple smaller units for the space. For example, the IQAir unit you mentioned is $1,099.99 and gives about 330 CFM at its max setting. You could buy two Levoit Core® 600S purifiers which would have a max CFM of over 800 and it would be a few hundred dollars cheaper. Or could buy two or 3 AirFanta 3Pro units and have over 1000cfm for only like 600 dollars. How big is the space you are trying to clean?
For Covid purposes, the particle size does not matter that much. Any of the purifiers that you mentioned would do a fantastic job. I’d recommend getting one of the larger units (or two of the smaller units) and running them on the medium setting. I’d recommend against the IQAir unit as it’s just very expensive for the CADR. If I were you, I’d buy one Levoit Core 600s and run it on the 2nd setting normally and 3rd setting when someone else is in the room. That would be more than sufficient for the space you mentioned and would only be 300 dollars instead of 1000.
The regular/Core 600S (not plasma pro) is a beast, and you can run it on low in a bedroom and still get a good CADR. Highly recommend for the price point (~$250)
The displayed PM2.5 value on our 3 Core 600S is completely off by around +20ųg/m3 so need to ignore that and use a third party air quality meter. We have a Core 300s as well for the office which displays correct values, not sure what that's about. Other than that, they are fantastic at cleaning the air! We went for the bigger 600S for our 35m2 bedroom because it allows to have it on lower fan speeds at night for similar CADR as the smaller models at max speed which is too loud for sleeping. We live in a dusty climate and keep the device at speed 1-2 at night and the rooms PM2.5 and PM1.0 are consistently at 2-3ųg/m3 now. Best bang for your buck for sure. Coway Airmega 400 has the same CADR and costs 2x as much for example.
I got the levoit 600s and it takes care of my entire 650 sq ft apartment! Very powerful
I have a 600S in the bird room (Quaker and Green-wing Macaw) and the master bedroom, two 200S models in the other two rooms.
So far, so good!
I have 2 levoits.and about to get a third for free because my 600s kept getting an error. They have the BEST customer service out of anything I've dealt with. After I submitted the error on the app they reached out to me discuss next steps. Good luck!
Yeah I've experienced that before. I have the 600s and a small unit for bedroom. Sorry, forget the model. With that said I'm not sure I needed the 600s because it's good for 3000 sq ft and my house is half that. I actually got it because I thought it was cool how it can scan the air and adjust based on quality. This is if it's in auto. It never went past low. I wanted more cleaning that that so keep it in 2 and run a schedule to kick up to 3 or 4 (turbo) while sleeping. Also, check Amazon for open box items. I got it for $225, normally $300.
I have levoit 600s and 300s. No complaints. But if you are brand specific then Phillips 3000 series
