"Literally couldn't think of any pair of IEMs + dongle dacs could sound as analytical as the C3P+ for around $70. ... detail is just sooo much better. The C3P+ is just leagues ahead the I5 in terms of detail and resolution. ... the C3P+ is actually the closest sounding one to really expensive iems or headphone that I have."

"Crazy good from the jump! ... When you factor in they're only $99 and go toe-to-toe with Bose QC Ultra at $299, this is the deal of the year!"

"Can't recommend them enough for the value, sound like $200 earphones."

"Not only are official filters likely to be available, there are tons of aftermarket options available as well. ... If filter availability is a primary concern, the AP-1512HH or 200m are tops."

"Replacement filters are like $12-15 each and I can usually go 12 months before needing to change."

"The filters are readily available. I blow them out with an air compressor outside and reuse them until I can’t."

"I recently found out I have a bunch of allergies- including my dog, so I got these Winix units to try and help combat the allergies. ... Within about 45 minutes of running one in my living room, part of my nose that has been clogged for as long as I can remember opened up. I’m breathing better than I have in years."

"I can tell you they really work. I have a mold allergy, and mold is literally everywhere in outdoor or indoor air with spores just waiting to land in a suitable environment for growth, but I have no symptoms at home with my two small Winix."

"They are also great to have during annual west coast wild fire smoke season and keep particulates in the house undetectable even when it has been horrid outside."

"We have indoor animals and almost a year later running 24/7 no issues. ... It’s just not the workhorse Winix is."

"I've had a Coway airmega going 24/7 for six years that hasn't developed any noise problems"

"I got annoyed when my winnnix developed a noise, but then I realized it was the unit I’ve been running almost 24/7 for ten years. ... The 2015-ish one is still fine."

"the medify one sounds horrible- it has a weird high pitch and i can’t stand it even on the very lowest setting. ... i actually sent it back and they replaced it and the second one sounds the same."

"The only smaller air purifier I have is the $200 Conway in my kitchen. Its like a jet engine when on high speed. That's OK when I've burnt something. But there is no way people are running it at that noise level in general use."

"And it’s noisy as hell when I kick it up a notch."

"within months of each other the bearings on both started making a horrible noise ... it turns out it's very common ... it's nearly impossible to fix because it's a sealed system ... They cheaped out on a 10 cent bearing and now they're pretty much useless"

"I have two and the motors are going bad on both after a few years. ... I have some 5500-2's and the motors got super noisy because the bearings are going bad."

"I would not recommend the winix 5500. I bought 2 a few years ago and both had the bearings go out after a couple years of usage. Turns out it's a common issue."

"this unit has a annoying light sensor that doesn't allow it to run in auto mode in the dark. The sensor is silly and I wish I could disable it."

"I recently got a Winix as well that I like although it has a light sensor so it knows when to go into “night mode.” I thought I would like this feature until winter hit and the sun started setting at 4:30 pm and my air purifier thinks it’s night time and isn’t detecting contaminates without a light on near it."

"The Winix has a light sensor that doesn't allow it to work in auto mode in a dark room. ... If I put mine in auto mode and turn the room lights off it goes into sleep mode which is basically turning it off."

"I literally just bought the Airmega 350 on Amazon and immediately regretted since I can't find the replacement filters for sale anywhere. ... Coway finally responded but wasn't helpful. They said they don't know when the filters for the 350 will be released."

"450 is round. New design. Not as good but more trendy. ... Higher claimed CADR. It is round so that number will go down rapidly. ... The VERY SHORT version, although ... there's a sticky ... is that round units are not inferior due to their shape. They're inferior because ALMOST WITHOUT EXCEPTION they have: * No removable pre-filter * Minimal Carbon, placed after the main filter * Deformable main filter * Smaller fans which have to spin faster to move more air therefore have a shorter lifespan * Shorter filter life leading to more costly replacement * Questionable filter efficiency, since it's difficult to manufacture a deformable HEPA filter. Levoit in particular claimed their filters were HEPA but they weren't at the time. They might be now, since they've started shipping them reinforced. * Instructions to VACUUM YOUR FILTERS, which pretty much means they're not HEPA. ... The airmega round units are, unfortunately, no exception."

"filter replacements can get pricey though ... filters are WAY overpriced considering you can get the machine with 2 filters for $120.."

If you have a Costco membership the Winix C909 is the absolute best bang for the buck. It has a much great air capacity than the 5500-2 which means you can run it at a low (not noisy) setting and still handle a good amount of air (general guideline is that you want at least 5 air changes per hour to have a real benefit from an air purifier). The C909 is the same as the 9800, but it is a Costco exclusive. It is $199 and comes with two years worth of filters.

Hey OP. I've owned several different air filters over the years and they've all helped a lot to lower the dust level and subdue my allergies. Even the cheap ones do shit. One thing is you have to clean the filters! The pre- filter gets dirty. Fills up with dust. I do like the Winix filters from Costco. The one I've got came with extra filters, which is really nice, cause the filters are like printer ink.

This question has been asked a lot recently. I really like the Winix from Costco, about $100 and then turn off ionizers (produces small amounts of ozone). I barely get dust in my house since we run a few of them throughout the house.

Multiple Winix from Costco. Significant difference. Hardly any dust in our house. Affordable. Turn off ionizer on them!

I use a couple of Winix air purifiers from Costco. I have also used a Shark 3 in 1 clean sense. Both have HEPA filters and work well and are also pretty quiet, no problem with running them while I sleep.

Winix from costco. I've stress tested it during a wildfire that got within a few miles of my home. I do not recommend Blue Air. Its more expensive and less effective.

We have a couple Winix purifiers from Costco and they're great. High CADR, compact, and they go on sale frequently. The HPA300 from Honeywell is also a great unit.

r/AirQualityIs this a good unit? Will it produce any ozone or anything harmful cause I want to put it in a babies room where our child and dog sleep.

You can turn the plasma wave off and it will be fine. I have it on 3 and its pretty quiet. Also, at my costco that unit was only $100 while on sale.

Winix is pretty solid. You can look up their aham verifications. This one specifically is pretty good. Turns the air in a 300sq ft room 4.8 times on high. For $100, you can put these in every room and call it a day.

For $100 vs $1100 this winix is a solid choice. Especially to put one in every room. The IQ Air has max room coverage of 1000sq ft just like the winix air. So im assuming (since iq air did not specify) the iq air turns the air in a 1000sq ft space once an hour on high. The price difference seems to be coming from the charcoal filter media. You can make a better VOCs filter from AC infinity charcoal filter and inline fan for $300 or so.

Getting the winix from costco means you can return it if you are not satisfied with the product. This is my 3rd unit. The previous 2 lasted 5+ and 2+ years and did not break. All at this similar price point of about $100. Winix is AHAM verified. I do not see the verification for the IQ Air. And both handle the same amount of space except the IQ air is not independently verified. The winix specifies that it can handle rooms of up to 1000sq ft in an hour with 1 air change. The IQ air says it handles rooms up to 1000 sq ft, but does not specify anything else. I am assuming they mean 1 air change an hour.

i have a winix from costco, but not this exact model its great. the filter is good for a year and the prefilter is good for 3 to 4 months. filter replacements can get pricey though so consider that before you purchase. although that would be 2 years down the line

filters are WAY overpriced considering you can get the machine with 2 filters for $120..
