"The dog smell is already gone after a couple hours"

"It has a nice pelleted carbon filter which is great for odors. ... I’m a weed smoker and my Winix has made a night and day difference compared to the Airmega."

"When I have guests over, they have always commented on how they can't smell the cats and ask how I do that in such a small space lol."

"We have indoor animals and almost a year later running 24/7 no issues. ... It’s just not the workhorse Winix is."

"I've had a Coway airmega going 24/7 for six years that hasn't developed any noise problems"

"I got annoyed when my winnnix developed a noise, but then I realized it was the unit I’ve been running almost 24/7 for ten years. ... The 2015-ish one is still fine."

"third party filters (tested for effectiveness) cost $20 a year."

"Not only are official filters likely to be available, there are tons of aftermarket options available as well. ... If filter availability is a primary concern, the AP-1512HH or 200m are tops."

"filter replacements are readily available ($50 for 2) ... available + cheap-ish filter replacements"

"the HEPA helping with my allergies immensely."

"I can tell you they really work. I have a mold allergy, and mold is literally everywhere in outdoor or indoor air with spores just waiting to land in a suitable environment for growth, but I have no symptoms at home with my two small Winix."

"It wasn't until I upgraded to 2 winix machines that I finally got relief and it was instant."

"They really do work well. I have pets and I can tell a difference in the air in the house since I’ve added these to my home."

"I have pretty bad allergies and woke up frequently with hay fever so I bought a Winix C545 for my bedroom--it worked perfectly and never woke up sneezing again!"

"I run them on full blast all the time because I live in an old house and I have dogs. They pick up a lot of dust."

"within months of each other the bearings on both started making a horrible noise ... it turns out it's very common ... it's nearly impossible to fix because it's a sealed system ... They cheaped out on a 10 cent bearing and now they're pretty much useless"

"I have two and the motors are going bad on both after a few years. ... I have some 5500-2's and the motors got super noisy because the bearings are going bad."

"I would not recommend the winix 5500. I bought 2 a few years ago and both had the bearings go out after a couple years of usage. Turns out it's a common issue."

"this unit has a annoying light sensor that doesn't allow it to run in auto mode in the dark. The sensor is silly and I wish I could disable it."

"I had it for about 3 days at that point and didn’t realize I couldn’t turn night mode off until last night 😂 ... I just pushed the 8hr timer so it stayed on during the night, but we go to sleep pretty early so it turned of while we were still sleeping and if I remember correctly (because I was half asleep) it played a loud jingle when it went off which I thought was strange."

"Yeah I covered mine with black tape."

"According to Shark, my air quality is a perfect 100% ALL DAY LONG. Even when: - My elderly Akita wanders by shedding fur like it's his job (and also pooting pretty non-stop) - I deliberately sprayed Lysol directly in front of it (for science!) ... The Shark? "100% perfect air, nothing to see here!" 🙄 ... But because it thinks the air is always fantastic, when I put it on auto/Eco mode, the higher fan rate is never triggered. ... It turned bright red, and said that the air would be clean again unless 60 minutes. It was back to 100 within a minute or two."

"I ordered 4 of these things and ALL of them sat off all day and night saying the air was perfect. ... All 4 of them did the same thing and would rarely come on."

"It's no wonder the filters last for 5 years, the thing never runs. ... They are not "purifying the air" if they are not moving the air through the filters."

"PlasmaWave is just a glorified ionizer. I personally cannot stand the scent of ionizers, it gives me headaches. ... Anything with an ionizer gives me headaches because of the ozone they produce."

"If you decide to get the Winix 5500-2, keep the plasma wave OFF. ... It's Winix version of ionization which is of concern for people who care about ozone. ... Supposedly it's negligible but i don't take my chances so I keep it off."

"The unit I bought said around 1300 continuous watts. Bullshit. This thing regularly pulls 1800 for lengths of time."

"expensive to run (electric bill)"

"The think I don't like is they really tank your electric bill"

Best value buy hands down! Solid CADR (clean air delivery rate) scores in all categories even on lower speed settings; quiet, energy efficient, cheap maintenance/filter replacements. That said, I believe that specific model only has a mesh charcoal filter. If filtering out VOCs and odors is important for you, consider a model that has a charcoal pellet filter instead like the Winix 5500-2. Has on/off settings for plasma filtration (plasma can produce trace amounts of ozone, so I specifically wanted a model that does not have it or can be turned off during operation). Higher cost upfront and in filters, but I personally find it to be worth it for the much improved VOC filtration.

I guess it depends on the size of the air purifier you need or how often you need to change the air in the entire space. I have a couple of the [IKEA Starkvind tables](https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/starkvind-table-with-air-purifier-stained-oak-veneer-dark-brown-smart-30501958/#content) and a [Winix C545](https://www.winixamerica.com/product/certified-refurbished-c545-air-purifier/). I linked to a refurbished Winix because that's what I bought. I think the Winix is too expensive at the regular price for its size and the IKEA tables are priced decently considering they're functional furniture. In both cases they clean smaller areas, but will eventually change the air in a large space with the Winix doing I think 1700 sq ft in an hour. The Winix integration is cloud based which isn't for everyone but the integration works well. the IKEA models are Zigbee and can work with the IKEA integration if you have their hub or with a generic Zigbee dongle. The filters for the Winix model are inexpensive enough with multiple choices on Amazon, the IKEA filters don't have a generic and you have to get them from IKEA. I think they're about $60 a set delivered, a few bucks less if you have an IKEA nearby.

I use a Winix C545 and IKEA starkvind purifiers. They’re decent and the Winix filters aren’t very expensive. Still RabbitAir makes some of the best purifiers out there and they’re expensive but Google says there is a HA integration for some of them. If I could spend the money I’d buy one for sure.

I’m using a Winix C545, mostly because it was really cheap as a refurb and some IKEA starkvind table units.

I have 4 cats and a dog. I have two Winix c545 purifiers, a Winix 5300, and Whirlpool Whispure 510 in various rooms. They're all pretty solid.

If you're a Costco member, they have the Winix C610 on sale with an extra filter for $99 (the extra filter is worth $70, so it's a good deal). If you're not a Costco member, you can buy [refurbished Winix purifiers](https://www.winixamerica.com/product-category/certified-refurbished-air-purifiers/?_gl=1*tsy8w2*_up*MQ..*_gs*MQ..&gclid=CjwKCAiAiaC-BhBEEiwAjY99qBGYqJQG-wTbsW0msEEpxK5xXmUi4ssVWTFjvlcqFofMeGsMakKboBoCn7AQAvD_BwE) starting at $69. I bought the C545 in January and it's been nice? Noticed so much dust caught in the dust filter after a month.

I 2nd the Winix recommendation. I replaced 5 pricey Milas that all broke after a year with 5 Winix C545 US units 2 years ago...best decision ever.

I went through 11 or 12 Milas (originally bought 5) that all had bearings issues or capacitor failures. I finally broke down and bought 5 Winix refurb C545 units for $69 each 2 years ago....best decision ever! They are super easy to clean, I can get off brand filter refills that are a bargain, I love the app scheduling options....they just WORK in silence and it's so great to actually forget about them because they aren't constantly breaking. It felt like I was actually cheating on Mila when I finally threw in the towel. However, I wish I had done it sooner instead of just prolonging the torture. Coways are great machines...I'm sure you'll love it.

We have a Winix C545, works great. The Costco near us sold literally thousands of them during the forest fires a couple years ago.

I bought 4 of the Winix C545 directly from Winix on the refurbished portion of their site. They have a prefilter and a charcoal filter before the HEPA filter. I run them on full blast all the time because I live in an old house and I have dogs. They pick up a lot of dust. I'm pretty happy with them, they've helped my allergies a lot.

I bought this model directly from Winix refurbished, it was 69.99 at the time, not sure about now. I have 4 of them, they work great.
