Bugaboo - Fox Cub

Bugaboo Fox Cub, purchased new and used for 5 months now. - pros: cheaper than every other big name prams models (I bought the bassinet and pram seat bundle through black Friday sale for $960 last year), I think due to it being a smaller version because it's not expandable for two kids. We loved everything else about it. Very easy and smooth to push around on hilly and rough terrains. Bub sits pretty tall and comfortable, he falls asleep in both the bassinet and pram seat no problem and never cried in this pram. It looks good and feels solid. It fits fine in the boot. - cons: It requires two hands to fold up. So I'll need to lock bub in the capsule/car seat, then turn around to fold and load the pram into the car. I know that some Bugaboo models have a one hand one click fold thing. But in reality, taking an extra 3 mins to leave the pram by the curb/parking lot when you handle the baby is no problem and every stranger gives you way anyways. The bag space under was a little small when we had the bassinet on and we had to use a small nappy bag, but it got significantly bigger when we switched to pram seat. Other tips: I didn't buy bugaboo branded assesories, I got a coffee cup holder off Amazon for 20 bucks, and a woolly foot muff from Gooseberry for 100 bucks. They are compatible no problem. Single pram vs double pram: to be honest, i felt it was too soon to make a decision for things that might or might not happen in a few years. I also prepared for having more than the one pram. I heard from lots of 2+ kiddo families that their oldest doesn't want to sit in the pram once they're in walking age, so I just opted in for a small, cheaper but decent single pram, and will prepare to buy another once I'm actually prego with a second and see how my first turns out.

I second the joolz aer. We're in the country side so also have a bugaboo fox cub which is brilliant, but going round the village or into Manchester the joolz is the one. Expecting #2 and have the joolz carrycot ready to go and it's so soft. We'll be using both prams but definitely recommend the joolz for small spaces. On lots of bugaboo pages they often recommend it over the bugaboo butterfly and dragonfly as they often are a little flimsier, especially with toddlers or older children.

We have Bugaboo Fox Cub, and same. It takes soo much space, I honestly liked the cot for when she was a newborn, but now with sport seat I understand I made a mistake. It's just so huge to deal with. Had to buy a travel buggy now that our baby can sit up. Wish we went with Cybex Melio instead, cuz newborn phase is over sooo fast. 🥲

Ooh always interesting to be nosy at what others found useful! I’ve just gone back to work after mat leave. A few comments/additions if you don’t mind: - People either love poppers or zips on baby grows. We were big fans of zips and I don’t think you can go wrong with Baby MORI - if you join their sleep club these work out a lot more affordable and are wonderfully soft. Also agree on their sleeping bags, pramsuits etc. my favorite baby brand. - Seraphine (went bust - you can still buy their things at Next) are great for hospital and breastfeeding nighties / tops. Also just general maternity clothes. - Dock-a-tot sleepyheads are no longer encouraged under safe sleep guidelines. - We love our Stokke Tripp-Trapp. If you look on John Lewis you can often get the baby set free. - Pramworld website worth looking on for all of the big purchases. We got £500 off our pram bundle (Bugaboo Fox - would recommend if you are suburban/rural, potentially not for inner city for space purposes as is like the SUV of prams) - For baby carriers, we really liked the Ergobaby Embrace for newborn and then Omni 360 after about 4 months. For the style driven you may want to look at Artipoppe. - Anything Binibamba if you want a luxurious present for new parents / babies. - A lot of Americans on Reddit discuss Snoo bassinets which basically automatically rocks to help soothe newborns to support sleep. We never needed this but new parents who are considering it should know they can also be rented. - Rockit and Snoozeshade to help promote naps on the go. - We found having a separate travel pram super useful for holidays and to keep in the car boot for when baby can sit upright. The Joolz Aer+ / Aer2 can fit into the overhead for most airlines and we have no complaints. - Unless you are confident you want to pump, I would suggest waiting to buy a breast pump until baby is here and you see how breastfeeding is going. I needed to for a short while and could buy the midwife recommended pump directly from the maternity ward (and at a discount). - Also make sure you join the baby club on Amazon as you can get 15% off a lot of things.

This could/should be your travel pram (I love mine) but judging by the others you like, I think you are also after a more sturdy traditional pram which I would recommend particularly for newborn phase. I would second the calls for either the Bugaboo Fox or UppaBaby Vista. Very reliable, sturdy and spacious.

Maxi cosi Pria is an amazing car seat, love it, it is pricy, but you might be able to get it on sale. I also love my bugaboo pram, there are ones going second hand that are in great condition, especially if someone is upgrading to a double for a second child!

If you’re not worried about budget I would suggest not getting a double. If you need it later get one then, they are generally heavier and bulkier prams even in single mode. The uppababy Cruz for example is almost exactly the same as the vista just a single pram and a bit lighter and a tiny bit smaller footprint. As a nanny I pushed a fair few prams, and one I did not enjoy at all was a Joolz. I found it just not nice to push and steer. I’m personally very fond of Bugaboo prams, a Fox or a Kangaroo if you want a double. Edit to add: I’d suggest going to a shop or an expo and pushing a few different prams around with a 10kg at least weight in them too see how they feel with a child in rather than just empty. Most prams feel lovely empty! You can feel the difference as more weight gets on them. Also worth considering your needs, are you city based and not likely to do much off pavement prams use? Or lots of cross country? Cause that matters for choice too. If you’re on and off trams in Melbourne a smaller pram might be what you want

Go on marketplace and get yourself a second hand bugaboo fox or similar. Mine is from 2021, and I’ve got about a year still to use it before I’m done, if I were to sell it I’d be selling for around $250-300 and it’s in great condition, a few scratches on the frame from wear and tear but everything else basically perfect.

I’d go and try them in person at a shop or expo, and push them with a weight in. I personally have a bugaboo fox and love it. But it’s not lightweight or a one hand fold. A friend has the dragonfly and loves it for a smaller pram but still not a travel style

I love both my fox and my butterfly, different uses. Quick out and about, don’t need to lug around heaps of stuff, staying on pavement? The butterfly every time. Anything else, long day, lots of stuff, gravel or off roading, then I need the fox.

Take the parcel shelf out, that’s what I needed to do with my Holden Cruze. When bubs was really small I put the bassinet in the back seat but once he was bigger the seat part fit in the boot fine. I have a bugaboo fox

Have a bugaboo fox club it is so easy and smooth. Much better than the babybee duo 2 I previously had which was nice but so bulky and hard to manoeuvre at cafes/shops etc. also have a butterfly for quick shops etc.

I have bugaboo fox cub for day to day - we walk everywhere, go to the supermarket with it. Big basket and sturdy suspension. Until you have the baby, you don't realise what a pain it is to get baby and all your stuff into the car, so you actively start avoid driving when you could just walk somewhere (or go on public transport). Big pram is good for a big day out with lots of walking, and lots of stuff. Also you will walk a lot anyway to get baby to sleep when they're young, so you need one that's good for pounding the pavement for hours. Then I have Joolz Aer Plus as my light travel pram - for folding up small in the car, going to little cafes with not much room and when we travel. I only got the travel pram when baby was about 8+ months plus.

We have this same classic combo and it’s brilliant. We use the bugaboo fox a lot more day to day as it’s more comfortable to push going out for walks, more space to store stuff in the basket, more comfortable for the kid and he can nap etc. Yoyo lives in our car boot and is super handy as it folds up small and has a small footprint in shops and restaurants.

Have you tried out these prams in person? We have a redsbaby skip2 and absolutely love it as a travel pram. But I wouldn’t cope with using it as our main pram for a new born/infant. It doesn’t do well on uneven surfaces, no parent facing, and I don’t feel like baby would be as comfortable in for longer day trips. I know the Skip3 is different, but some of her travel prams don’t have adjustable handles. So if you or your partner are tall, then this can be an issue also. We have a bugaboo fox as our main pram. Yes it is huge and heavy, but Bub absolutely loved it. It’s perfect for longer trips out and is super easy to steer when travelling on non-paved/uneven ground. I would suggest fining something in-between a travel pram and the more common bigger/bulkier prams. It may be hard but doable.
