About to have my second, here are my recs: •Bassinet - firstborn didn't like the one we got. We're going to try the newton for our second, but it is not budget friendly. Car seat - chicco keyfit. Can buy straight from their website, or from any major retailer. Stroller - we have the chicco corso cleartex (no chemicals). Incredibly sturdy, half the price of the fancy strollers. • nursery dresser - we got a $5 dresser at resale, and put a changing table topper on it. • baby laundry detergent - tide free and clear. Don't get dreft, it's all marketing and not that great • Diaper brands - unfortunately brands often changing their formulations, so if it seems like a reliable brand stops working, that could be why. We liked millie moon before my toddler was potty trained. Kudos runs small. Huggies skin essentials and pampers pure are good upgrades of the common brands. Costco used to be good but isn't anymore. • A diaper rash cream - triple paste • Baby lotion, soap, and shampoo - aveeno
I did not use our infant car seat on our stroller at all. We had a lay flat stroller (chicco corso), but a bassinet stroller will have the same effect - it's slightly less convenient than a car seat, but way more comfortable and advisable for baby.
Also love the corso, it is very well made, great stability and handling. It doesn't have all the fancy extras, but I personally couldn't justify spending twice as much for all that.
I didn't end up getting the mockingbird (I was putting my registry together the month the recall happened), but looked into it extensively. Here are 2 considerations for what I didn't choose it: - Wheels are less "all terrain" than other strollers. I ended up with the Chicco Corso, which had excellent traction and large wheels. Since I live in a place with a ton of snow and uneven sidewalks, this was important. The wheels are one of the big differences between the Mockingbird and Vista that I've noticed. That said, the wheels are comparable to most strollers, so this might not be an issue for you. - Single to double strollers are best for 2 kids close in age. The toddler seat on any of these types of strollers gets cramped for toddlers over 3 years old. I knew I wanted a 3 year age gap, so ultimately decided against the mockingbird or vista. That all said, there are definite pros to the Mockingbird. The bassinet and seat can be put on the higher setting, which is helpful for using stroller at the table or for getting baby higher to see things. There are a lot of accessories, which I don't get with my chicco. And if you have baby #2, even with a cramped seat the option to have a bassinet and toddler seat together is clutch for the first 6 months. So really nothing wrong with keeping the mockingbird, just personal choice!
We just got the Chicco Corso and a wagon. Our kids are 3 years apart. My plan is to babywear the newborn until he is old enough for the wagon.
I love the Chicco Corso LE!
Until I had 2 kids and upgraded to a side-by-side double stroller, I never felt like I needed anything other than my Chicco Corso LE, and I chose it over the UB V2. It might be worth looking into to see if it meets your criteria.
I have never flown with it, but I have done plenty of road trips with it.
100% agree with this! I love the Corso!
I tested a lot of the higher end ones and still ended up going with the Chicco Corso LE system. It out performed the Vista and Nunas in my opinion at half the price. The only downside is it’s not really for a multi kid family, which was fine by me
Little girl is coming in about a week and a half. We went with the Chicco Corso LE and love it. We’ll see once there’s a little babe to push around… 🤪
We were able to test it at a Kohl’s with a Babies R Us inside. There’s 200+ if you’re in the states. Worth looking into.
Chicco LE has lay flat infant insert which is suitable from birth. It replaced the bassinet/pramette that other strollers have. Chicco has the best infant carset ratings and their LE corso has advanced suspension with excellent ratings … and a 1 hand fold 🙌🏼. We went with it and couldn’t be happier with safety, performance, and price.
About $800 in the US. Went for the Chicco corso primo LE stroller and Keyfit Max car seat

Love my chicco corso LE stroller and key fit 35 car seat combo. Looks very nice, collapses great, and the car seat is one of the most highly rated seats year after year.
We got the chicco corso LE and honestly it is great! I didn’t test out the uppababy one but I’ll be really shocked if it’s significantly easier to push than the one we have and if it is, I mean, I weight like 110 pounds and have 0 issues pushing the stroller so I don’t know that I need it any easier. I think it also depends on how much you plan on using it. My child hated the stroller and so we also didn’t use it much, maybe it’d be different if it got a lot of use.
This is what we have and I love it. Use the stroller almost daily for errands or walks and it feels very smooth to me. How smooth exactly do people think a baby needs lol. Manageable with one hand if needed while walking the dog. I really like it. Unless you have very specific needs I couldn't imagine paying twice the amount for a similar product.
I don’t currently have the Chicco Corso flex (planning on getting it when we’re expecting baby #2), but I have the Chicco Corso LE and that’s the single version. I freaking love it and when I found out they had a double version of it, I told my husband that’s the one we’re gonna get when we have more than one. Also just wanted to note that Chicco “does not endorse or warrant using Chicco car seats with strollers manufactured by other companies” and they “do not manufacture any adapters nor do we recommend any aftermarket adapters or products”.
We bought the Chicco Corso travel system and I absolutely love it. It’s super easy to switch the attachments to either snap the car seat in or smart the modular seat in. We also had the infant insert so that baby could use the modular seat from the newborn stage. We use the car seat click in attachment when we’re just running into the store quickly and use the seat for all other times.
Not sure if you’ve looked into it already, but I think the Chicco Corso Flex (though probably bulky) has everything you’re looking for. We currently have the Chicco Corso and will be getting the Corso flex when we have a second (I didn’t think ahead and get the double from the get go).
Echoing those who’ve mentioned Chicco! We got just got the chicco corso LE travel system and are really excited to use it—it’s basically half the price of the nuna equivalent and seems just as stylish, functional, and user-friendly!
The options are overwhelming for sure. But the good news is you definitely don’t have to spend &1k! I recommend starting by looking up which infant car seats in different price ranges are top-rated for safety. Personally I went with a travel system that included the Chicco Keyfit35. You can also get a car seat that’s not just for infants, but those tend to be less portable and less useful as carriers, so it’s a trade-off. Beyond the car seat you have options of different configurations depending on what appeals to you; some folks like a full-sized stroller with a bassinet attachment, some prefer a travel stroller with an infant insert or bassinet, some do a stroller or a caddy you can click the car seat into. Personally I went with a travel system (the Chicco Corso LE one) where you can either use the stroller as an infant car seat caddy, use an infant insert in the regular stroller seat, or later on use the stroller beyond the infant stage (and we’ll get a non-infant car seat at that point).
