You don't have to go for the most high end system. I'm on my second kid and still getting a ton of use out of our Graco Verb travel system. We've put in hundreds of miles on the stroller. I waited to get a double stroller until I had my second but we barely use the second seat. My first started walking everywhere around 2 and now at 3.5 almost never wants to sit. My only regret is not getting something with Greenguard certification or whatever as we think more about what touches our kids' skin everyday. We have a forward facing Chicco carseat for our preschooler that is Greenguard. Still, we all can only do so much without going completely crazy looking at carseat chemicals and microplastics so it's a balance.
-make sure underneath basket is large and not too far stashed under the stroller -bassinet attachment/ turns into bassinet (baby won’t want to be in the car seat for extended periods plus the car ride and it’s not good for them anyway) - sun shade is large enough and can pull down pretty far over them. My son hates the sun in his eyes. -if you do decide on a travel system make sure the car seat isn’t too inclined. I hated when my son’s head was pretty much sideways in his seat because he was sat up too much. He needed something that laid down more when he was little bitty and couldn’t hold his head up. -when folded, stroller can stand on its wheels without leaning it against something. Nothing more frustrating than trying to balance it outside of the car when repacking it. -cup holder for you is a nice bonus -don’t get graco verb system. Trash. Wish I could just throw it in the river.
I recommend finding a store you where you can check them out for yourself. I went to target and ended up settling on the Graco Verb Connect. I hate shopping online, so it was nice to test them out in person, we still ended up buying off the website because I had a color preference not available in store.
I did so much research on this and was exhausted after going to multiple stores to try out different one. Ended up getting the [Graco verb](https://www.target.com/p/graco-verb-click-connect-travel-system-with-snugride-infant-car-seat-pink-black/-/A-92644331) for about $200. Very happy with it. I was about to drop $500-$1000 and then came across this. I’m sure those other luxury ones are nice, but this one has been great. I’ve done everything from traveling with it, to daily runs. It’s does amazing for the price.
We registered for this Graco stroller/car sear combo and absolutely love it. It's a great height for walking (I am 5'6" and my husband is 5'11") and the car seat just clicks into the stroller. The stroller can be used for toddler, as well, once baby gets bigger. https://www.target.com/p/graco-verb-click-connect-travel-system-with-snugride-infant-car-seat-pink-black/-/A-92644331
First and probably only child. I put the cheapest Graco stroller/car seat combo on my registry which was the Graco Verb click connect. The stroller is perfectly fine. Personally, I think spending a ton of money on a stroller is silly. However, I would have chosen a combo with a better car seat because this one is very basic. We were gifted a second Graco car seat which was much nicer than the Graco Verb version.
I (32 weeks) did a lot of looking at Chicco brand strollers because that was what my sister-in-law recommended, but this Graco stroller compared very closely to Chicco’s $600 stroller and is $250 and ultimately what was purchased for me. Congrats and good luck! https://www.target.com/p/graco-verb-click-connect-travel-system-with-snugride-infant-car-seat-pink-black/-/A-92644331
Think about your sidewalks, bigger wheels can handle potholes and cracks much smoother than smaller wheels. Cup holder is nice to put phone and keys or coffee. Under seat storage is super helpful to carry extra crap. For the early phase having a click-and-go system is super handy. They do grow out of that pretty fast, so be careful about spending tons on it. We had an inexpensive hand-me-down click and go from Gracco and then a nicer three wheel stroller that we used a bunch.
So for our first we got an affordable stroller/car seat set from Costco (Graco click and connect, I think) and I would highly suggest something like that to start. It comes with a bucket car seat which just pops on to the stroller so it makes it so easy to transfer the baby from the car to the stroller for outings/walks. Once they’re big enough you can use the stroller without the car seat too. I would not shell out for a fancy or specialized stroller before the baby has been born. I would wait until they’re here and you can see how it’s going with the cheaper one because there’s a good chance it will be good enough for you anyway. It was for us for a long time! But it will depend on your baby and your specific needs/lifestyle whether or not you’ll want or need a more specialized stroller. And your wants/needs/lifestyle are going to change once the baby is here and not necessarily in a way you can predict. You might end up wanting a jogging stroller, needing a good quality umbrella stroller if you take public transit or travel a lot, a double stroller if you end up having a second baby in the next couple years, etc. So yeah unless you have money to burn I would just start with a basic car seat/stroller set and then go from there. Edit to add: if you get a bucket seat/stroller combo I would get it new because of the car seat. If you’re getting just a stroller second hand is great!
I have my larger indie bumbleride jogger for my dirt driveway and road that I keep at home. I purchased a super cheap second hand graco click and connect 4 wheeled stroller for my travel stroller because the infant seat clicks into it. And it folds nice and small for the airport.
