I have a toddler and another due in June. I just got the mockingbird that sits 2 and I love it.
I walked them around buy buy baby. I thought it wouldn’t matter but one I kept kicking the axle, another didn’t turn as well. I got mid range one, the top line models didn’t seem better for the price when I walked them around. And for my second a mockingbird to be able to convert to double (gets heavy quick when it is double though, would need 2 young kids I think).
Graco has one that the seat itself becomes the bassinet. We had no issues with that one, graco modes nest. We only switched to mockingbird because we needed a stroller than can convert to a double.
I wish I had gotten the mockingbird from the beginning. I didn’t even think of getting a convertible one this first time. Still currently using the mockingbird as a single as number 2 is still on the way, and I love it.
Yup I wish I had thought ahead. We ended up switching out our graco for a mockingbird.
We had a Mockingbird double and I ended up selling it because it was horrible on bumpy sidewalks or any not flat surfaces, and we live in a hilly area. I’ve heard the same about Vistas and any other front to back doubles. I love them in theory since you can convert from one to two kids, but the weight distribution makes them very unwieldy, plus they’re huge and heavy for storage. What we have landed on is a wagon for keeping in the garage and using around the neighborhood or for bigger outings/rougher terrains, and a cheap double umbrella stroller in the car for quick outings and for traveling. There are some wagons that allow for infant carseat connections. Double jogging strollers are great but check dimensions—double bob would not fit in my trunk.
Yes! Loved it for my first. It handled beautifully with one kiddo and loved the big storage basket, nice aesthetic, and premium features. But as a double I felt like it would tip over every time I had to walk on a sloped surface and it was a pain to get over uneven sidewalks. I could see it being great if you live in a very flat new development area or if you mainly use it in indoor spaces like stores.
I like taking walks so for my first baby I bought a mockingbird single-to-double stroller. It comes as a single but you can upgrade to buy the second seat, if you have another. They also have a third attachment that’s like a skateboard with a seat. I just bought the second seat since I’m due soon. I would not want this stroller to travel with… it’s heavy… but good to have if you live in a neighborhood. But I also bought a cheap jogging stroller off of FB marketplace (I was going to get into running, but never did). My mom has a small, cheap one at her house because we walk a lot there too. Her stroller only fits one and cannot be modified to accommodate more than one kid. Just find a stroller (if you want one) that works best for your family’s needs (do you run, do you travel, do you take small walks closer or have to travel to a park, etc.).
Buy a used single stroller, sell it and buy another used double stroller if you want a double. I adore my mockingbird single to double but still have used a city mini and a city mini double (both used) and just need different things in different periods. So much stuff is so good secondhand.
Mockingbird with tandem setup and the scooter add on for our toddler.
Totally. It quickly surpassed my mockingbird single to double, which became so unwieldy and heavy when we added the second seat. I still use the mockingbird when I'm just walking with baby, but the Zoe gets all the use when I have both kiddos.
We brought the mockingbird when our twins were 6 months and gate checked it. We also got car seat bags
I got a free baby city jogger double and love it! Just the seats are thrashed so I’m using our mocking bird for now! Both are so nice
If I had to start over, I would choose the even Flo dual shift, and a mocking bird that can convert to a double. I was one and done when we had my daughter, so I got the Doona and I love it but the even Flo seems easier as you can take the wheels off and click it in to a stroller!!!
I love my mockingbird or joovy qool
