Silver Cross - Dune Stroller

We skipped the bucket seat completely. We have used the same car seat from birth until now (almost 2) and will continue using it for years. It’s the baby jogger city turn. As for stroller, we got the silver cross dune because we live in a city and needed something durable but not too large. We got the bassinet attachment for it and whenever baby was in the stroller for months 0-3, he was in that bassinet. It was so great because I’m not a fan of having LO in the car seat for extended periods of time.

We originally had the Silver Cross Dune, but it broke after 6 months and had a nightmare dealing with Silver Cross customer service. Honestly shocking given they're considered the "Rolls Royce" of prams. Eventually we got a refund, and switched to the Joolz Aer+ and have been so impressed with it - very small and light when it's folded, and the best folding mechanism I've come across on a pram. Can go in the overhead locker on a plane, and much easier to fold and more comfortable to push than the Yoyo. Also comes with a 10 year transferable warranty - which we've not had to test yet in the ~8 months we've had it, but gives me confidence that the company stands by their products. Honestly 20/10 pram, I really can't fault it, and unless you need off-road capabilities I honestly can't see why you'd go for anything else!

I also have a Kia picanto and I got a silver cross dune. I can fit the chassis and the nappy bag in the boot and then I have to put the bassinet or seat on the front seat and my boyfriend sits in the back with our daughter. It has small wheels so it is able to fit in the boot but it means it isn't great on rough terrain. When she was 9 months I got a silver cross pop which fits in the boot with the nappy bag as well. I use it in the summer or just for quick trips or rougher ground. My daughter is 21 months and we're still using the dune. I could see us getting a good bit more use out of it but I'm not due baby 2 in March so I have no idea what we're doing but I do know that I need a bigger car before then! 😅

We got a cheap silver cross travel pram off fb. We’ve had it nearly 2 years and it was probably 2 years old when we got it. It’s been on probably 10 trips and it’s just this week sustained its first damage on a jet 2 flight. Will 100% be doing the same thing again and buying on fb to replace it. I would not take our expensive and large bugaboo on a flight for fear it would get damaged. If you take your car seat make sure it is well wrapped

Cx3 and using a redsbaby skip 3. Although I should mention that’s our secondary pram and only for indoor use eg at the shops, main pram is a silver cross that goes in my partner’s car

I've been using a silver cross pram and we've took that thing up on mountain hikes with crap paths, through swampy grass and all sorts. We bought it second hand as well so it had already been well used. I'm not even sure how it's still standing and yet it continues to surprise us. It comes with different bits likes a moses basket style, then transfers into a buggy and has a car seat and there's different types for lightness. Couldn't recommend enough, I'm pretty sure at this point if my house set fire, it would survive 😂

Honestly, I don't know how all the wheels have remained intact at this point, we've took it everywhere 🤦‍♀️

Do not recommend silver cross ❌ I have the bugaboo fox five and absolutely love it. I find it really easy to fold and the fact that it really is all terrain has been really handy for me as we do lots of walking on the beach, on walking tracks, asphalt, hiking etc etc I like that it has an extendable hood or however you would describe it. I’ve lost my mind but you can basically bring the cover all the way down to the baby’s toes. Has a few airflow flaps.

The 3 mums that have silver crosses in my mum’s group have all had major issues with them. Two of them had to get replacement parts and one of them literally has a whole second pram pretty much sitting there because there were massive issues with it. All 3 had issues with their brakes. That was enough for me to put me off for life. In saying that I have a vintage silver cross sitting in my attic that was built to withstand anything!! one of those Mum‘s recently got a bugaboo because she’s having a second baby and keeps commenting how much smoother it is to roll. That’s what I found with my fox. It just feels so comfortable for both city and cross country.

The better it is on uneven terrain/inclines the less foldable and heavier it’s going to be. You’ll have to decide if you want to split the difference and get something in the middle or get two. We ended up getting two. We have a silver cross one that barely folds down and is relatively heavy but it’s incredibly sturdy, has great suspension, a massive basket and has been taken on many a countryside walk across mud, gravel, rocks etc. We then also have a yoyo for travel that folds down small enough to go in the overhead compartment in a plane.

I’ve literally never seen them there and I spent many hours there trying to convince myself I needed and could afford a Bugaboo. (Surprise to no one, I didn’t and I couldn’t! Lol) Nuna, Uppababy, Silver Cross, Thule, Doona, Joolz, Cybex, sure. Chicco? Never. Maybe this is a new development? 🤷🏻‍♀️

We got a lot of stuff from buy nothing groups on Facebook and hand me downs. We splashed out on a Silver Cross Stroller and an Owlet monitor. We got a changing table and rocking chair from Ikea, and then went midrange on Philips Avent for bottles and steriliser / warmer. We got a BabyBjorn carrier and bouncer, a Lovevery play mat, Halo Bassinest, Boppy cushions all as hand me downs and Facebook buy nothing. We bought a second hand Nuna car seat from a very trusted friend in an almost new condition. I got my pump through our insurance.
