We had the silver cross pioneer to begin with and i hated it. It was genuinely awful. Its currently in my in-laws attic and their friends borrow it when the grandkids come. We switched to the joie versatrax which is a *joy*. Its light, folds with the seat on, seat can parent and world face, has a cup holder, bottle holder, and fits piles of stuff in the basket.

r/BeyondTheBumpUKHow on earth did you decide on a pram/ pushchair/ travel system?

I got a silver cross from my SIL that she had used with her girl which I hated so that gave me a list of things to avoid. Then I made a list of all the things that I wanted (folding with the seat on, parent and world facing, lots of storage) and watched a lot of tiktok reviews! I also made a point to look at people out and about with their prams and see how they were doing. Was it hard to push? Does the kid look comfy? Even asked someone in tesco if they liked the pram they were using 😂

Went to JL and tried some. Tried to lift them on my own, put them together, change the seats and bought the easiest one😂 we have a silver cross pioneer and bought a Joolz aer + at 2 which we use on a daily basis.

On baby 2, with baby 1 we used a few second hand buggies. For walking, even in the city on uneven pavements, 3-wheel buggy is best. I'm thinking about buying nipper v6 plus with swith bassinet, os I can have my kid in parent facing mode for a bit longer. Earlier we used baby jogger city mini gt 2, which was mostly good, but had no option for parent facing seat. You can buy car seat attachments for it if needed. We gave pram away after our first to save space, not because it was bad. We got it second hand from someone using it for about 8 years, we used it for another two and it was still going strong. For travel we have gb pockit all-terrain plus. It's very small, can have car seat attachments, and has carrycot option if you need. In airlines they frequently let me take it on board. We also used oyster, which was okay but the front wheels sometimes were bending underneath the stroller when getting off the curbs. We had briefly silvercross pioneer but hate it. It's huge, front wheels bend underneath it on even small bumps, basket is huge but somehow I can pack less than in our baby jogger and to access it for anything bigger I need to take off whole bassinet.

r/BeyondTheBumpUKPram buying for baby - what's the pram/travel system you went for and what was your experience with it?

I'd suggest going to a place that has loads on display if you can to try them out to get a feel for what you like. We had a silver cross pioneer, although I think it's an older model now. But I loved it, my daughter is nearly three and we still use the pushchair rather than switching to a stroller as it's so nice to use! Plus the basket under is massive which I like for shopping!

I used this for a holiday abroad when my baby was 6 months and he got on really well with it. It was super light yet not flimsy and he napped great in it. I have a Silvercross travel system which I love but I use the Joie from time to time as a lighter option. I think it’s really good for £50 if OP doesn’t want to spend much

We got a second hand Silvercross travel system (I can't remember the exact model) and we used that from birth until our daughter stopped using it at about 2.5y. I think if she was going to use it for longer we would have got a lightweight pushchair.

We got a cheap silver cross travel pram off fb. We’ve had it nearly 2 years and it was probably 2 years old when we got it. It’s been on probably 10 trips and it’s just this week sustained its first damage on a jet 2 flight. Will 100% be doing the same thing again and buying on fb to replace it. I would not take our expensive and large bugaboo on a flight for fear it would get damaged. If you take your car seat make sure it is well wrapped

Cx3 and using a redsbaby skip 3. Although I should mention that’s our secondary pram and only for indoor use eg at the shops, main pram is a silver cross that goes in my partner’s car

I've been using a silver cross pram and we've took that thing up on mountain hikes with crap paths, through swampy grass and all sorts. We bought it second hand as well so it had already been well used. I'm not even sure how it's still standing and yet it continues to surprise us. It comes with different bits likes a moses basket style, then transfers into a buggy and has a car seat and there's different types for lightness. Couldn't recommend enough, I'm pretty sure at this point if my house set fire, it would survive 😂

Honestly, I don't know how all the wheels have remained intact at this point, we've took it everywhere 🤦‍♀️

Do not recommend silver cross ❌ I have the bugaboo fox five and absolutely love it. I find it really easy to fold and the fact that it really is all terrain has been really handy for me as we do lots of walking on the beach, on walking tracks, asphalt, hiking etc etc I like that it has an extendable hood or however you would describe it. I’ve lost my mind but you can basically bring the cover all the way down to the baby’s toes. Has a few airflow flaps.

The 3 mums that have silver crosses in my mum’s group have all had major issues with them. Two of them had to get replacement parts and one of them literally has a whole second pram pretty much sitting there because there were massive issues with it. All 3 had issues with their brakes. That was enough for me to put me off for life. In saying that I have a vintage silver cross sitting in my attic that was built to withstand anything!! one of those Mum‘s recently got a bugaboo because she’s having a second baby and keeps commenting how much smoother it is to roll. That’s what I found with my fox. It just feels so comfortable for both city and cross country.
