I have the Silver Cross Reef 1 and we love it. We got it on sale bc they were about to come out with the 2 and I’m super grateful we did it. They‘re so nice. We‘ve been out before and everyone is struggling with their stroller to get over a curb or something and we just go right on walking.
We went with the Silver Cross Reef. It was hella on sale and came with a bassinet. I believe the current ones aren’t on sale but you can lay the flat like the Nuna Mixx.
I’m in love with our stroller. It was very expensive(even on sale) but gifted so maybe that’s the trick to full happiness with it. But we went to Nordstrom and other baby stores to test out every single stroller. The number one feature I wanted was being able to fold it both ways(facing forward or backward) and at the time the Silver Cross reef was the only stroller that could do this. I think other strollers can now but I’m not positive. I really like being able to adjust the straps from the back too bc toddlers are super wiggly. It is literally so easy to open and close the stroller I don’t think twice about moving it around even within the same shopping center. We have a travel stroller and my kid hates it bc it’s not as comfortable. I suggest trying them out and thinking about what you want bc the stroller is really a gift for you and your partner. They won’t remember it but you will.
I have the Silver Cross Reef and really appreciate how sturdy it is. It is heavy but it mainly stays on the car or by the front door and you can push it to wherever you’re keeping it. We take the stroller to the beach, zoo, city, museums basically everywhere and having it be sturdy and have the space to carry stuff really helps. If the stroller is too light it can’t hold the diaper bag on the handle.
I think the Nuna is known for growing out of sooner. It’s why we chose to go with Silver Cross Reef. We got it on sale bc they were coming out with a new stroller so not sure if it’s crazy expensive. My baby is off the charts in height and it’s been great.
We got the Silver Cross and it came with the adapters I think…idk my mom bought it for me but most strollers that can adapt will be able to use the Clek. It’s only strollers where you have to use their brand bc they don’t allow adapters where it’s an issue.
I used this for a holiday abroad when my baby was 6 months and he got on really well with it. It was super light yet not flimsy and he napped great in it. I have a Silvercross travel system which I love but I use the Joie from time to time as a lighter option. I think it’s really good for £50 if OP doesn’t want to spend much
We got a second hand Silvercross travel system (I can't remember the exact model) and we used that from birth until our daughter stopped using it at about 2.5y. I think if she was going to use it for longer we would have got a lightweight pushchair.
I have the nuna triv next & like it but don’t love it. We have a silver cross reef for our main stroller & bassinet (I believe it’s an EU brand) and we love that one. The nuna is sort of cheap feeling & doesn’t have very good suspension when comparing the two. It’s still a great stroller but because I have (imo a better one) I don’t think it’s as amazing as the internet makes it seem 😆 I almost wish we’d gotten the nuna mixx or Demi but I’ve seen how the footrest sags on the mixx after a while of use since there’s no frame to support it, and the Demi was just way too big when I tried it out in store.
We have a nuna triv and plan on using it as our primary stroller. We also have a silver cross reef for big/long walks in our neighborhood & uppababy minu for travel. I think the triv is big enough for daily/regular use but it’s light enough that I can carry it & it doesn’t feel super heavy. We got it as an unexpected gift from a friend, so we already had the other two prior 💀 otherwise I think we could’ve been ok with just the triv! The only thing I dislike about it is that the baby feels like they’re kinda low to the ground. With the nuna mixx and silver cross the seat is a big higher but idk if that’s a deal breaker for everyone or just me lol.
I went with the nuna mixx next. I like mostly everything about it except the footrest is quite loosely flimsy a bit..which isnt much of a con tbh. Also the storage bag underneath is quite small compared to the competition. Other than that its great. Other great strollers I had on my list back when I was choosing a stroller were the Uppababy Cruz, and the silvercross reef. Wife didnt like the aesthetic design or fold of the Cruz compared to the Nuna. While I would've chosen the SC Reef as my primary option...its damn expensive compared to the Nuna and Uppababy. I also looked at bugaboo too, but it didnt really stand a chance getting chosen since the wife was sooo into the Nuna.
I wont recommend a travel stroller since you already have a yoyo. Looks like your looking for a great full feature single stroller option. My favorite for a single stroller is the Silver Cross Reef. The Cruz is also a good option. I personally have the Nuna Mixx Next, but my second go around I might switch to a Silver Cross. Only reason I didnt before was because of the price, but 2nd time around ill be in a better spot financially to splurge on it. Ive never got to test out a bugaboo stroller so idk which option id go with on that brand.
Its not very commonly seen due to its price point, and theres a very big popularity in other high end brands like Uppababy, Nuna, and Bugaboo. Honestly Silvercross is reaaallllyyy nice. They are essentially the Lamborghini of strollers. Very good quality built, a deep history company wise, etc. I wish I had bought one back when I had my boy, but we settled on a Nuna. The price point of the Silvercross made me think twice about it. I still like the Nuna but sometimes I still think about the Silvercross I didnt buy lol Personally I like the Reef a little more than the Wave but both are great strollers.
Also came to comment that the reef is horrendous on anything other than smooth pavement.. I didn't know it was advertised as one handed? It's absolutely not, I can barely lift it with two hands What magnetic clasp? I've only used the bassinet so far, is the stroller seat terrible?
I chose based on looks/vibes and regret my decision daily 🤣 Silvercross reef, can't handle a curb 1cm high, can't get shit in the basket when the bassinet is attached, SO heavy. Looks cute though
I have the clek liing (love it!) and the Silvercross reef stroller. If i were to do this again, I think I would have gotten the uppababy or cybex tbh. While its definitely sleek and eyecatching, I found that overtime there are more “accessories” easily bought for the uppababy vs the silvercross. You can get universal items for the stroller but I always find it sits weird on the stroller. I’ve had items shipped from the US for the stroller. It’s also heavy. The one thing I do LOVE about the silvercross is that its lie flat. My baby is 7 months now, its so so so handy for naps. Depending on the season I would suggest getting the bassinet attachment.
We’re in the same boat as you, baby due beginning of sept, and it’s the decision I’m struggling the most with as everyone says this is the purchase not to cheap out on. I had my heart set on the silver cross reef so tried it out at a baby expo the other week and was so glad I did as it was ticking all the boxes when trying it at the stand (1 click fold down, tick, easy manoeuvrability, tick, good quality design, tick, etc.) BUT when I tried it on their test track thing (diff terrain like gravel, ramps, etc) it was terrible.. ☹️ something you would never discover when looking in the store. I tried the vista 3 as well and although it did well on the track I found it plasticky, a bit heavy and awkward to unfold 🫤 So I keep going back to bugaboo now because of the terrain thing and overall design etc. They are discontinuing the fox 5 and replacing with a fox renew (?) so it’s discounted at the moment, so considering this, the kangaroo and the fox cub. I also wondered about the cybex gazelle and babybee juno but ruled out cybex as the basket can only sit at the top, and babybee juno I haven’t seen many reviews? Sorry for the essay 😅 like you, totally having a hard time picking!
Silver Cross Reef ultimate bundle, would not recommend. Sold on the convenience aspect that you can do everything with one hand. But bloody hell it’s so heavy, really not ideal if you’ve had a c-section. The magnetic clasp is not convenient at all as it comes apart when you’ve got a wriggly child. The bassinet was good in that it’s classed as sleep safe 0-6 months. The reef was also advertised as big wheels so good for urban and suburban, the wheels can’t even hack a 2” curb!
Yeah the sales folk were saying how all the buttons are memory buttons so nothing needs to be pressed in simultaneously “so if you have the baby in one arm it’s fine!” The magnetic clasp is on the pram, great because it wont nip baby if they get caught when you’re buckling up but it comes apart when you’re trying to strap them in!
We have the Silvercross Reef and for an alternative view to the other commenter, we would not recommend it at all. I think it shows just how subjective it is. Buying a pram is hard, because when you test them in store you won’t notice the flaws until you take it home and use it every day. Reasons I don’t recommend: 1. It’s very heavy - really, the nans struggle to lift the buggy in and out of the car. 2. The magnetic lock system is an absolute pain to try and do when you have a wiggly 6 month old. Seriously, try it in the store and imagine having to perfectly line up the magnets. It’s ridiculous. 3. The folding mechanism is unnecessarily complicated. You have to push the handles all the way down first if you’ve extended them. Slide a button to the left and press. It sounds simple, but my idea of great design is that it should be intuitive. I shouldn’t have to demo how to do it and it should be smooth. The positives are, it does look the nicest out of the ones we tested. It’s very complete, in that it’s got everything we could need. Suspension is good as we regularly take baby through the woods in it. Break in the centre is convenient. Customer service by Silvercross was very impressive. If we were buying again I’d pay a lot more attention to the weight, lock and folding mechanism.
