We have the Wave from 2022 and absolutely love it. We now have a 2.5 year old and a 12 week old and use it regularly. Love the high weight limit as well. Only complaint is when you have it set up with 2 kiddos, the bassinet can’t sit in the top position with the adaptors we have. The only work around is to buy another seat, whereas the new version allows this. Definitely worth every penny though!
Also - want to add we use the bassinet/bassinet stand a ton in the first few weeks with our babies!! Another complaint I remembered is the bassinet doesn’t fold down for travel. Their new travel stroller does though
We went with the Vista V3. I was so keen on the silver cross wave, for the same reason being the bassinet at the top and double configuration. when I saw it in person the fold is terrible, I also live in Queensland and the silver Cross just seemed way too warm and padded for our weather, remembering that it really is built for European weather. Weight of the prams wasn’t really an issue for me. I haven’t found any of them overly heavy. The only challenge I had was post C-section. They are heavy other than anything you were supposed to be lifting but that would’ve been an issue with pretty much any pram.
I have a Silvercross Wave. Pros: similar price range to Uppababy vista but you get everything (2 seats, 1 bassinet) so it works out cheaper, double pram, bassinet can go up top, seats are full size so toddlers won't grow out of them so fast, massive basket, it's sturdy and I never feel like it's going to tip over, so many seat configurations, seats can recline if you're blessed with a baby that sleeps in the pram, there is a skateboard attachment you can buy, brake is solid Cons: it's heavy but I was ok with that because of how sturdy it is, two handed fold down but I do find it easy enough, you don't have to but I take the seat off to fold down so it's not so heavy lifting into the car, sun shades aren't long enough and we do lots of walking in the Qld sun so I feel like the sun is always getting in, after sales service is almost non existent. Overall I love it and would recommend it, but I am looking at a side by side double for walks only. I love the Bugaboo sun shades and I like the idea of babies side by side but I don't want a big side by side pram when I'm out shopping.
I’m not sure stroller compatible + 360 + used lasts while toddler exists. We went for the first two of those three. We got the maxi-cosi pebble 360 with the isofix base. It not only swivels but also pulls out towards you to make it extra easy to access. We then got the extra adapters for the silver cross wave and could use them together. Was really nice when he was younger to be able to buckle him in while in the house and then just lock the entire seat in instead of me having to bend over post c-section to strap him in. We’ll need a different seat once my son is over 13kg but it uses the same isofix base.
We did something similar. I have a silver cross wave as our every day buggy for cobblestone streets or going out into the country and then have a Babyzen yoyo for travel
I’d absolutely get a compact stroller for travel as well. We got a similar stroller to you (the silver cross wave) as it’s sturdy and good for all terrain but it barely folds down. We can take it on vacations where we drive but no way we’d do it by plane. We got a Babyzen yoyo secondhand at half price to use when travelling and it’s been brilliant being able to take it onboard the plane with us.
The better it is on uneven terrain/inclines the less foldable and heavier it’s going to be. You’ll have to decide if you want to split the difference and get something in the middle or get two. We ended up getting two. We have a silver cross one that barely folds down and is relatively heavy but it’s incredibly sturdy, has great suspension, a massive basket and has been taken on many a countryside walk across mud, gravel, rocks etc. We then also have a yoyo for travel that folds down small enough to go in the overhead compartment in a plane.
Just had our first (5mo). Got a silver cross wave and whilst it’s a nice pram I regret it, wish we got a single. I’m a tall, big guy so the weight isn’t that much of a problem but it is for my wife. Aside from that, in our x trail this thing takes up so much space it’s a bit ridiculous. Finally, they’ve discontinued our colour so I can’t even buy a matching second seat when it’s needed. Wish we got a single to begin with. 100% would change.
Never been happy with Silvercross. We’ve had the Silvercross full bundle - car seat was rubbish and the pram was heavy and impractical. Rucksack and hand warmers were a nice touch. I would avoid any Silvercross products based on my experience. We’ve had the Bugaboo double (side by side, called donkey I think?!) - it’s good but a bit unwieldy, Doona one that converts to a car seat (useful but heavy and uncomfortable for child), Babyzen yo-yo (useful for travel but limited) and the Joolz aer which is great for travel (can get on a plane) and more versatile than the Babyzen so it can be used more like a normal pram - it’s been my favourite travel pram. On a side note, the Cybex car seats that rotate are amazing.
The Silver Cross Wave has been a great stroller for us! Easy to steer with a heavy toddler on the front and has a bassinet option for baby
You're going to have trouble with this for multiple reasons. 1. Budget - $500 is pretty low for a durable stroller. Most will be closer to $700-$1200. Although I did see that Thule Urban Glide 2 is on sale at Amazon right now for under $500 2. Purpose - jogging, travel, compact, all terrain, newborn-toddler, single, double, tandem... there are a million types of strollers that all serve a different purpose. Those purposes may seem silly now, but they do matter. 3. Kids' preferences - your kid may HATE whatever stroller you choose making it a total waste of money. Like I got a single stroller that could be converted into a double (SilverCross Wave). My first loved it. Used it everywhere, then my second came and they DESPISED being front/back. We had to buy a side-by-side stroller so they could see each other (Zoe Twin) - -Another note is that a lot of jogging strollers (which is what you should look at if you want all-terrain), are meant to only be used from 6-9+ months. You may be able to find one with a car seat adapter, but not a newborn bassinet. Jogging strollers will also be heavier, bulkier, and not fold as compactly - so make sure it will fit in your car or home storage. The good news is there are always a ton of jogging strollers available used on FB marketplace. I've gone through 5 strollers and wagons in three years (SilverCross Wave, SilverCross Jet, Wagonfold W4, Zoe Twin, and a jogging stroller) My recommendation would be to get a travel stroller that has a lay-flat seat and is compatible with your newborn car seat, get through postpartum, let baby develop some head control, and THEN get a jogging stroller. I also recommend going to a local baby store and actually try pushing whichever stroller you get in person before purchasing!
Silver cross wave. We have an uppababy vista and while I love it I don't love that I HAVE to buy a $300 rumble seat to have two kids sitting in it. It's infuriating that I can't put the toddler seat on the bottom and a newborn on the top!
I just pre ordered the breez! I was SO overwhelmed with stroller research and I didn’t know what we needed. I ended up getting the silver cross wave second hand on marketplace. I love the wave - it’s a beautiful stroller and we used the bassinet feature almost exclusively until he grew out of it. I started looking into more compact strollers because the wave is so big, and the fold is just not practical. The bassinet and the seat don’t fold so storage for the wave is a nightmare. The breez looks PERFECT - a gorgeous stroller, bassinet compatible for the next baby, and compact. Oh also - I got a Thule second hand for more rugged adventures. But I’m so excited for this stroller! I’m
