If you have the aria car seat, would you consider a used UB Minu stroller? It might fit overhead but also can gate check. I have the minu duo with the bag and the bag is pretty solid. Also gate checking the doona, if you plan to also use it as a car seat, runs a risk of damage to the doona which could impact the safety of the seat.
Uppa baby minu double is 50lbs for both seats. I think you d probably got a little wiggle room but it will compromise the frame over time. I know one-off I’ve def put more in the basket than recommended

So generally I love uppababy products. Vista v2 first used for a singleton and later as 2 under 2. (Not quite a mom of multiples). I love vista. I also have a minu v2 which I love. Smooth ride, easy fold, comfortable seat. Now minu duo has a smooth ride but I don’t love it. It’s good but it could be better. It accommodate a smaller frame the seat are narrow and not as comfortable. It doesn’t come with a belly/bumper bar. It’s less hassle than converting vista into a double so I believe I will learn to love the duo. Duo (similar to a single minu) is not suitable for rough terrain). If you have more questions I can asnwer them.
I have the uppababy minu duo and I’ve been using it since my 8 week olds were born. We love it. It’s definitely not as nice and cozy as a double bassinet would have been, but our girls don’t seem to mind. We strap them in with the harness and wrap blankets around them. They both love it and happily nap in there when we go on walks. There’s good storage space under the seats. It’s got great control and steering. It folds up nicely and isn’t too bulky or heavy when we get it in and out of the car. It’s fit through all doorways we’ve gone through. I’d recommend it!
We have twins and we have a bugaboo donkey 5 for everyday use. its nice and Big, the kids sits comfortably and the wheels are smooth as well. Then we have a second travel stroller the minu Duo. The Donkey was just impossible for travelling. Its big and heavy and a pain flying with it, folding it and storing it on the top compartment on a plane to Japan. Thats when the smaller foldable minu duo comes in for travelling
I got an Uppababy Cruz (single) gently used on Facebook Marketplace and it's been great! We had intended to space pregnancies about two years apart. Then I got unexpectedly pregnant with my 2nd at 5 months postpartum - due in January - and I recently bought a very gently used Uppababy Minu Duo on FB Marketplace. I wanted a side by side that could be used from birth on where you can also click a car seat into & I personally really hated the Vista and how heavy it was and its configurations for two. Honestly I don't regret what we did in terms of stroller decisions because I'm sure we'll use the Cruz a lot still!
I have an Uppababy Cruz and will likely keep it because it came with the piggyback ride-along board (bought it off FB marketplace). I really wanted a side by side stroller for both kiddos (they'll be 13-14 months apart) though instead of the Vista so I looked for months and ended up purchasing a gently used Uppababy Minu Duo off of FB Marketplace. You can use the Minu Duo from newborn onwards and you can clip in an Uppababy car seat with adapters! It's very lightweight compared to the Vista and folds more compact as well.
I have the Uppababy Minu Duo that we use as our everyday stroller. We've been using it since baby was 5 months old. My kids are now 2.5 and 1. For context, I also have the Uppababy Cruz which I love. The Minu Duo is good for city use. I say that because it's fine on pavement, but I find it struggles with rougher terrain that the Cruz can handle like loose gravel, gravel trails, bumpy grassy fields. I suspect the other 2 strollers you are considering would have the same issue because of the small wheels. That said, I'm fine with that because it's rare that I encounter those types of terrain. The trade off for a lighter stroller is worth it for me, especially because I need to carry the stroller up and down a set of stairs from my front door. I find the Cruz feels smoother to push, maybe because of the larger wheels, but it could also be because I'm only pushing 1 child vs 2.
Oh man, I must say, I have the minu duo now and it is just not up to par compared to my butterfly. I know it’s not super fair to compare a single to a double but the quality is just not the same. I wish Bugaboo came out with a double butterfly.
I have the uppababy minu duo with a 6 month old and 2 year old. We got it when baby was 3 months old and toddler was 23 months. I just took it on a 2 legged trip to Mexico (City then Cancun) so had a chance to really test it out. I am in Canada where we don’t have the Bambi or Zoe. It’s the best option we have for a travel side-by-side but definitely has some downsides, especially when comparing to my single Bugaboo butterfly (sadly bugaboo doesn’t make a double travel - if it comes out with this I’d swap in a heartbeat). Pros: - fits everywhere. We have yet to encounter a doorway it doesn’t fit into. - the duo travel bag has wheels and a good travel warranty - pretty decent sunshade with nice back and top peekaboo windows/vents - leans all the way back for newborns - relatively decent undercarriage for a travel but there is a bar between the basket that makes it a bit cumbersome to put stuff under and does limit what you can stow - handle is nice - relatively easy fold and unfold (I can’t do it one handed but my husband can, and it is one step) When the seat is upright there is a little pocket / storage area above the seat under the canopy which has proven very convenient for sweaters, toys, snack related stuff and waters etc. - stands up on its end when you fold it - Handlebar feels nice and is a good height (we are a tall family though). Cons: - when you fold it up the seat backs remain out, so it doesn’t have a nice tight fold. This drives me bananas (the bugaboo doesn’t have this issue) - when kids sit in it and are old enough they can pull forward and the seat back comes right forward. My oldest is old enough to not do this and my youngest is too young to have figured this out, but I have friends with 15-18 month olds who have a huge problem with this and we saw a 10 month old in the airport in the regular Minu who was doing this a ton. Seems kinda unsafe. - fabric seems cheap - I don’t love the buckles/straps - my toddler (just over 2 now) can get out of it if she maneuvers the right way. I miss the bugaboo 5 point latch (also had a one button release). Meh: - the push. The bugaboo pushed better but not by a ton, and it’s hard to tell how much of the push resistance is just due to the fact that there are two kids in it. Steering around corners is clunky but that’s to be expected in a travel side by side. Wheels are small which makes them fold up small but means this thing can’t handle snow or rough terrain at all. But we had lots of cobblestone streets and sidewalks in Mexico and it was fine on those. For comparison, my bugaboo could handle all terrain a bit better - I took it out on slightly snowy sidewalks regularly. Hope it helps! While I don’t regret our purchase (I do think it’s the best on the market in Canada - rivalled only by the Nuna double but the mismatched seats would have been a mess for my jealous toddler), it leaves much to be desired imo and I definitely don’t love it like others seem to. Edit to add: I realize you didn’t specify what Uppababy. I didn’t even consider the Vista because it’s too clunky for me, steers like a tippy boat when you have two (imo, I’ve tested out a friend’s several times with her kids in it), my kids are tall so oldest would have grown out of very soon, and my oldest likes to be in and out a lot which is easier in a side by side because in the tandem she have to be in the top seat. I tried it once with my kids in it, and for this season alone it was an easy no. It does push better/on more terrain than the minu duo, basket is much better, fabric on canopy is nicer, and it’s nice to have both kids facing you, so those would be the pros. Width wise it’s about 2 inches smaller but as I said we’ve had no problems with the width of the minu duo fitting into narrow doors. It might be easier to take the vista to shopping malls but in my experience if it’s tight for the duo it will likely be tight for the vista.
We just bought the Minu Duo. Good for folding up and throwing in the car for errands where a double stroller is needed, but imo not so good for long neighborhood walks. It is kinda heavy to push because the wheels are so small - what makes it a great travel stroller makes it a meh regular stroller imo. If you are in a snowy climate it doesn’t push well in the snow. Our ages are now 25 months and 4 months so exactly your gap. If I’d do it from the get-go I would get the Bugaboo Kangaroo if I cared about width and getting in the car regularly (I do), or the bugaboo donkey if I didn’t plan on bringing it regularly in the car and didn’t care about width. Alas, my baby is 99th still for height and by the time I decided to get a double stroller I couldn’t justify spending that much for a bassinet I didn’t need, plus my oldest is in FT daycare so it’s not as often that I’m trucking them both along. With our first we traded in the City select for the bugaboo Butterfly (their travel stroller) and never looked back. If bugaboo had a tandem travel I’d purchase in a heartbeat.
Bugaboo butterfly was and is my all time favourite stroller - we ended up using it as the primary stroller for my first, only switching to our bulkier stroller when the snow is too bad in our area. We considered but didn’t try the ride along for two reasons: I realized I needed a way to constrain my toddler because she’s a runner, and watching videos of the bugaboo wheeled board (if I recall they have one with a little seat) looked so awkward. I ended up getting the minu duo. It is imo not the same calibre as the butterfly. I find it cheaper fabric and a bulkier fold, a the push isn’t quite as nice. But I think it is the most comparable (along with the Nuna travl but the Nuna has two diff sized seats aka battle waiting to happen wit my kids). The duo is exactly what I need it for. Can contain both kids but toddler can easily get out and run around (unlike a tandem), fits in every doorway, one button fold, light enough that I can carry it inside easily or to the garage, relatively easy straps, big enough undercarriage to fit stuff in like a small diaper bag and my coat or some groceries or shopping. Top and back peekaboo windows that both baby and toddler love. We got it in grey and found it didn’t overheat in the sun during our travels. I don’t have the car seat but I used it flat in the one seat when my first was a newborn. I have a friend who reports her 1 year old pulls forward on the seat and I’ve seen it with him and it’s a design flaw, but I haven’t had my 2 year old do this so it hasn’t been an issue. Super easy to travel with, though the travel bag costs a fortune (we just went to Mexico City and Cancun when the kids were 27 months and 6 months and I was so grateful for it especially in the airports). But if you fill in the warranty, if the stroller gets busted in transit and you are using their bag, uppababy will cover to replace it/repair it. Even if your toddler isn’t a runner, there might be instances when they try to push their boundaries and it’s really scary to not have a place to contain them when this happens while also juggling a newborn/infant. You could also rely on baby wearing your youngest but my baby never tolerated being worn until he was 6 months so sometimes our intentions don’t match reality. That said you did need to make the decision right away and see how things go - we didn’t buy the tandem until about two months postpartum (but I’ll be honest, regretted not purchasing earlier). I did agonize about what to get and ultimately I’m very happy with what I settled on. I held onto the butterfly and use it for solo trips with youngest, and assume once oldest grows out of the stroller I’ll still want it for the younger one. Age gap is almost 21 months. My kids are very tall (92-99th percentile) and my now 2.5 year old has tons of room to grow still. Enjoy and best of luck with the end of your pregnancy! I personally found it so much easier to have a newborn and toddler than be pregnant with a toddler!
Yes do report back!
TLDR: vista is better for neighborhood walks, minu is better for errands. I have the minu duo. It does the trick for errands: easy to close, and pretty light weight; also nice if your older one likes to jump in and out of the stroller. Imo it is easier to push than a double tandem with two kids in it but I still find it a little heavy and unwieldy to push tbh (my friend has the tandem so I trialled it on a couple walks with her kids when I was expecting baby 2 and trying to figure out what stroller to get). Width is manageable - not much bigger than a tandem tbh. I do find it to be a bit cheap feeling, but I used the Bugaboo Butterfly travel stroller basically exclusively with my first and it was such good quality and such a joy to push that I am spoiled I guess (plus I loved the 5 point buckle on the bugaboo). But I think the minu duo is the best travel side by side currently on the market and I’m not loyal to the brand. Anyways, both my kids love the duo; I don’t have the uppababy car seat so I just lay my infant in the flattest mode possible). My now two year old is very tall but still fits comfortably. The sun shades are good and there is a peekaboo window in the back that my oldest loves. Overall I think it’s a decent option for doing errands but not wildly enjoyable for daily walks around the neighbourhood (especially if you have snow or ice - it’s absolutely garbage in any kind of snow). However, because my oldest is in FT daycare, it met our needs, because we don’t usually need the stroller for them both (and I have a single stroller for infant with a bassinet). If both kids were home all the time, I’d personally get a travel double of some sort (I’d get the minu again if I could make it work budget wise) as well as a second full size side by side on FB marketplace that I’d keep in our garage. But if I had a vista already I’d just hold onto that and see if I liked it with two! I think a vista would be preferable to the duo for walks because it handles better in all terrain conditions. Edit to add that this really depends on where you live and whether you drive. I live in the suburbs of a big city. Lots of snow but mainly paved areas. I drive a lot. Stroller accessibility in our city is very problematic. I have a big van but a bad shoulder so don’t want to be lugging around heavy strollers for daily shopping etc.
Double stroller (travel, minu duo) has been a godsend for us. We held off on a double crib as ours are 20 months apart but 6 months in my +2 year old shows no sign of moving out of her crib so we just bought a crib. One thing I’ve learned is don’t rock the boat with baby 1 if you have a good thing going - if they sleep well in the crib keep em there as long as possible. Wish we had gotten one earlier (we recently tried to grab one off Facebook marketplace and it was a mess - if you do the marketplace route make sure there is an available manual either online or from the seller). We also needed/got: - another baby monitor as we still use one with my toddler - something to see them in the car (we got a really cool video screen monitor for the carseats with a split screen but a mirror would do, this was a great splurge though) - another pack n play for travel when both need beds - another Slumberpod tent (such a splurge but we travel a lot and do a lot of cottage trips where there isn’t blackout blinds). - diaper genie (for baby 2 nursery) - change mat (for nursery) - second high chair (we got a handmedown) - blackout blinds (nursery) - dresser (nursery) - another sound machine as we now use toddler’s in her room again to muffle the noise of baby crying next door -additional convertible car seat (we use the bucket from baby 1 currently, but will upgrade this when I can snag one in a sale). We also ended up getting a second glider because we use my oldest’s all the time for her still, but that was a splurge. We haven’t gotten it delivered yet and have made do with me having to breastfeed on an uncomfy chair we dragged up from our main floor, or use my toddler’s when she is in daycare. This is another thing I wish I had just gotten in the beginning, but I was trying to save costs. Baby showers are really only a thing for baby 1 where I am, so we just bought all this out of pocket.
Have you tried front to back? People on this sub seem to hate them. I have a Uppababy Vista and a 2019 Kia Niro EV and a BMW i3. The stroller takes up pretty much the entire trunk in the Niro EV and will not fit the i3 without putting one of the back seats down. In the Niro EV it has to go flat all the way across the trunk as our trunk isn’t tall enough or deep enough to fit anything else. We can fit other stuff in but it’s annoying and means playing Tetris. Hence we leave the Vista at home and use a Minu in the car. I think the Minu double is still significantly smaller than the vista. Compare the shape of the X1 trunk to our 2019 Kia Niro EV to get an idea of what the vista will be like in the X1.
Why do you want to do front to back? Look at the dimensions for 2019 Kia Niro EV and for 2025 BMW X1 trunks. If the depth isn’t at least 2ft more or the height at least 2ft more the Vista will be a PITA to transport.
So my sons have a 21 month age gap. My second was born in August. We have the UB vista and after a long debate, we stuck with it for the newborn days instead of buying a completely new double. I didn’t like the idea of bassinet at the bottom configuration but after trying it out in store (we had to buy adapters), it really wasn’t that bad. Newborn was asleep most of the time we went out anyways, and my toddler needed more attention so it made sense that he sat up top. It was also very easy to peer over the side to look at my second. With that being said, I don’t really use the vista as a double anymore 5 months later. It’s too clunky and heavy for me to steer. My toddler still likes sitting in the seat so I just baby wear my second. But at 2.5, will your toddler still like being in the seat? Maybe the ride along board is an option. I’m now looking to purchase the UB minu duo because I need something more lightweight and easy to set up (aka no set up haha). I actually regret buying the second seat for the Vista because it’s only been used twice.
We have a 21 month age gap and just purchased the Minu Duo! My toddler still loves to ride the stroller and would not tolerate a ride along board, so we went with the side by side. Like what you mentioned, it’s been great for what I need it for. The Vista v2 as a double was just too heavy and hefty. We used it as a double maybe 3 times - I regret buying the attachments to make it into a double. We gravitate towards the Minu Duo for both neighbourhood walks and running errands. OP you don’t have to decide to buy now! We waited until 6 months pp to purchase the Minu Duo. For the meantime, I just baby wore everywhere and had my toddler in the vista. But my almost 7 month old is 21lbs and my back needs a break hence why we made the purchase.
We had the vista and the uppa baby car seats and it was great at first but it’s sooooo bulky! I hated going anywhere alone with it. We ended up getting the uppa baby minu duo (which you can use from newborn on) and I’m absolutely obsessed with it. It’s side by side but it fits through every door. It’s so easy to maneuver. Since we got it we literally have not touched the vista. I wish we had gotten the minu duo from the start. I would’ve gotten a. Cheaper base for the car seats to clip into and use the minu duo as my main stroller
I think only one car seat fits in the minu duo! We used the vista when they were infants because that obviously fit both. But if we could go back we’d keep the car seats in the car and just transfer to the minu duo as newborns. They’re only 6 months old/ 4 adjusted and we haven’t used the car seats in the stroller in two months since we got the minu duo. We bring it everywhere and just transfer them in and our of the car seats. The vista with car seats is SO bulky
