"Super easy. ... Took about 20-30 minutes"

"sets up in under 3 min including stake out time. ... Take down is just as fast and it fits in its storage bag with out much fuss. ... set up in under 90 seconds 120 if you putting in stakes."

"It stood up to a tornado i got hit with on my last backpacking trip in missouri."

"it literally survived a tornado while set up. I just had to stake it back down."

"surprisingly solid tent for hunkering down for a day or two in very wet and stormy Wyoming weather. ... exceed the quality of a lot of Western branded mid range tents in the $500 USD pricing tier based on my experience of seeing colleagues with a couple of very well known and popular mid tiered tents struggling under stronger winds and wetter weather."

"Mine has a footprint and it stays dry in there. It’s like a second tent really and it’s a tooon of space. Way more that a single person would ever need."

"My husband and I have always camped in at least a 8 person tent, our current go to is an eight person Big Agnes Big House tent. It is perfect for us for car camping."

"The absurdly large vestibule is worth the weight penalty, IMO, as long as there's space to pitch."

"These Core tents allow standing room. ... it's damn nice to be able to stand inside the tent."

"I’m 5’7 and have a bout 6-8 extra in of clearance when standing up."

"Go for the Core tent if you're a stand up in the tent & move around type. You'll like it. ... Hubby can stand & likes to bring a chair in."

"I have a Big Agnes tent that’s at least 10 years old, we use it regularly and only have to hose the dirt off. It’s amazing."

"A good tent (like the big Agnes) will last you a lifetime."

"Unfortunately, we HATE the door design, so much that it's needed to be returned. ... In a heavy or blowing rain it is very easy for water to enter here, even when you have the zipper guards velcro'd on the outside. ... So much water came in during one thunderstorm it saturated one of my beach towels and then some, and the leaking here was a recurring issue driving us to decide we needed to return it."

"1 of them lasted under 2 years with CONSTANT HEAVY USE, until the rain fly started leaking a lot and the zippers broke."

I have the Bunkhouse4. It is awesome and is absolutely palatial as a single man. Easy to set up solo as well. The rain fly is bomber but limits the ventilation slightly. You'll appreciate it on heavy rain days. I got it on sale for ~$400. Extremely awesome value at that kind of discount.

The 4 is probably the one for you. You'd be absolutely swimming in the 6. The 4 is 90"x92" for the interior floor. In my mind if you put two cots together and a double mattress you might eat up too much of the center of the tent. You would have room in there but it would be towards one side, where the ceiling height is lower. I feel like it would be taking too much of the valued high-ceiling real estate where you get to stand up to change clothes. How wide is the mattress? How tall are you and the lady?

Big Agnes has a better fly and since I had a chance to compare the two side-by-side, I believe it also has better fabric, better poles and probably better design. But that can be subjective so YMMV

Have the Bunk House 4. Perfect size for 1-2 people with cots. I’m just over 6’ and can’t stand full height without my head brushing the top, but it’s comfortable enough to get up and get dressed without slouching.

I've got a Big Agnes bunkhouse tent that's got a nice vestibule on the front for deshodding and storing gear.  It's been in some heckin rainy weather on scout campouts and never gotten wet inside.

Basecamp is a great tent with a garbage warranty and repair policy. REI only warranties for 1 year, they don't repair tents and don't sell parts. For this reason alone I would take the Bunkhouse hands down. BA has a lifetime warranty.

For being "green focused" not having replacement parts and repair services not not green at all. They have a new CEO and they finally got rid of Eric Artz so we'll see if they improve on this. Even Stoic (backcountry.com brand) and 3F UL Gear (inexpensive Chinese backpacking brand) has a lifetime warranty.

I’ve spent a few nights in the Bunk House and it’s a solid tent. My experience was during a windy and rainy storm. The tent handled it well. I currently own a couple of Big Agnes tents and I love them all. No experience with the Snow Peak.

I have a copper spur 2 person that I’ve taken both my kids in on separate occasions. I didn’t want anything too fragile so stayed away from the platinum models. I’ve since picked up a xmid 1p and obviously use that for solo outings. We are now at the point where we need two 2p shelters and I’m looking to add a xmid 2p+ at some point. We have a 4 person big Agnes tent but it’s a bit heavy and 4 people in a 4 person tent is a little rough when they get older. The best part of the copper spur is pairing it with a two person pad and two person quilt. The entire floor becomes a bed and is very comfortable. The two person quilt keeps the jimmy legs in without having to carry two sleeping bags, so for the person carrying it saves a good bit of weight. If I had to start over I’d probably make the same decisions. A freestanding tent is a bit easier if you aren’t used to trekking pole tents. My first outing with my xmid was on hard packed ground in the desert where it was really difficult to get stakes in the ground. The tent blew over during a thunderstorm that evening. If I were going on the same trip again I’d probably just take the copper spur. So for me it was about having some flexibility and diversity of functions when building out my gear closet.

r/campingLooking for a solid 6-person tent — any recommendations?

I had a bad experience with the north face 6 person tent, 2nd time using it and the bug netting on the doors started ripping at the seams. I had to send it in and they did fix it but beware. It’s a shame cause my other tents from them lasted at least a decade before starting to fall apart. We also have a Big Agnes 4 person tent since 2018 and it’s been flawless.
