"instant tents are a heck yeah from me. ... I call them relationship savers. ... No hunting for tent poles, trying to fit this to there ... I can put it up and take it down on my own and don't need to crawl around on the ground for anything."

"legit 1 min setup ... zero stress"

"Literally takes 60 seconds to set up and is pretty easy to take down. ... You don't have to mess with putting poles together and fishing them through the tent."

"Set up two cots, with plenty of room to stand and dress or whatever."

"I own a 6-person tent for me and one kid. That fits two air mattresses and gives us space to stand, change clothes, keep our bags, etc."

"After finishing up a trip this past weekend up in Maine I found out that my new 6 person Coleman tent is not water resistant to rain. ... I always thought Coleman made a decent tent until this past weekend when I found out the hardway with water seeping through every seem of the tent"

"Both of my Coleman Instant tents have holes in the floor after just 2 uses. Both of them leaked water in a moderate storm. ... The Coleman Instant Tent has a known issue with leaks so they sell an additional aftermarket rainfly. ... I have the rainfly. Doesn't even cover the windows.... The windows fill up with water and then the water started dripping right off the keeper for the windows screen...."

"I do not recommend the Instant Up as mine leaks ... there’s an aftermarket rainfly so it’s a known issue"

"I have a Coleman 6P with a porch area and it’s nice for car camping but not something I would want to take to Scout weekends. ... It’s huge and heavy, and would take up more space than me and my son need, blocking others who have bigger families."

"How much boot space do you have, the Coleman Instant Up is excellent, BUT takes a lot of room."

"My only complaint is that it's pretty large when put away in its bag so it takes up a decent amount of space in the car."

I have the Coleman cabin with the full closure / waterproof front and I love it! It’s survive a few rainstorms and kept us dry. Very spacious and easy to set up.

If the budget can afford it, stepping up from the Coleman Silver to the Gold/Northstar range is a significant increase in quality and experience. Treat it well and it will last for years.

I'm looking at both. Have the Coleman instant up Silver but looking at the North Star because it's got built in lights and a vestibule which is very handy. Will probably just get a cheap king's swag for myself. Currently only have the tent for the family but I snore and keep my wife up so I'm looking at buying a swag so I can sleep next to the car or something.

Dude. Get a Coleman pop-up 6 person. Or look into it at least. The ease of set up+tear down alone is worth it. I took my 4p camping every single weekend in 2018,19 & 20 and she still had much life in er! It's more of a dome style so it feels a lot more open I thought. It'll run only $130-50 so we'll under budget that can go into your purchase of the heaviest of duty tarp(brown as I found) to keep the floor lasting longer instead of buying a footprint for dumb money. I'll add, something that I did was bring my Lenovo Tablet to set up the projector it has inside of the tent. You can even buy a small screen for it but I never did and I had many a movie nights back then. The days...

I have a 4,6 and 8 person Coleman Insta-tent. I take the 8 person when my wife goes with me. Plenty of room, actually has a divider to section it off into two rooms. Get the biggest tent you can afford. You'll never regret extra space,

I've used 4,6,8 man Coleman Instant Tents for years. Goes up in about 3 minutes, comes down in about 8 minutes (you have to roll it and smash it back in the carrying bag.

While I don't have the full answer for you, buy a larger tent than you think you'll need. I'm one person comfortable in a 6-person EZ Coleman snap-up tent, I don't want anything smaller even if I'm hiking in. And kids grow fast. So while you might think a 4 person tent is fine, it is not - treat yo self.

I'll let others give alternatives, but my main advice is: Always get bigger than advertised. Do not get a 4-person tent. Get a big one. Or two tents? I'm one person and happy with my six-person EZ Coleman (seriously).

My Coleman Instant Tent 6 person has been solid for the past 5 years. I can easily set up everything in under 5 minutes.
