"The tent I use most often is a 4 person Coleman I bought new for $40 about 20 years ago. I'm very pleased with it. It gets about 10 days of use a year, so 200 days total so far"
"Shit man, I still got them and they still work great. Oldest one close to 15 years."
"It has lasted me over 6 years. No problems at all."

"Love my Coleman Darkroom for car camping. ... I need to use a lantern to see during daylight hours with the rain fly on."
"I just finished my first cub scouts campout in a Coleman Skydome tent, the kind with the "Dark Room Technology" which I *highly* recommend if your child is on the younger side (mine is 7) because it really does stay nice and dark in there, great for kids being able to sleep even with late sunsets and early sunrises."
"we bought one and it's fabulous ... we enjoy the extra sleep in ... My dark rest tent does not let any light in whatsoever except a few specks where the zippers are"

"We’ve camped in the rain and woke up dry with just the fly, no additional tarp needed."
"The Skydome is way tougher than it looks. ... I have camped in in the summer and literally on a mountainside in a blizzard. Survived all."
"I’ve bought both to festivals with multiple severe thunderstorms and was much dryer than people who brought much more expensive tents."

"six people would definitely be super tight in there. Would not recommend going over four people"

"We had the one with the screen vestibule for one rainy night, and it literally FUNNELLED the rain inside our tent! That version was the worst tent EVER."
"Leaked in moderate rain and ruined our week."
"it offered nearly no rain protection so you couldn’t keep gear there."
Here seems to be a decent tent (on sale) for around the price point: https://www.rei.com/product/201636/coleman-skydome-darkroom-4-person-tent It seems to bridge the gap between pop-ups and a standard tent.
r/camping • Pop up tent ->We have a Coleman 4 person skydome darkroom tent and it was waterproof in the 2023 storm until our canopy broke and crashed into/broke the tent lmao. We got a new one though. We also have an Ohnana tent for if we don’t have as much camping space & that one has held up since 2019, but they don’t make them anymore
r/ElectricForest • Can anyone recommend a good quality waterproof tent for 4/6 people? ->This tent has really awful air circulation. We had to lift half of the rainfly to get any air to cool the tent down, which defeats the purpose of the rainfly and the darkroom effect of the tent
r/camping • Pop up tent ->We got a new 6P tent that turned out to be huge. It’s fine when we take 6 grandchildren but just cavernous for us as a couple. Camp Coleman Dark Room Skydome 4P is a very appealing tent. But I purchased the Eureka Space Camp 4P for the same price (on big sale) because it offered front/rear vestibules and formed metal poles providing more headroom and stability. We love the Eureka! (The Eureka brand has been discontinued by Johnson Outdoors. However, there seems to be plenty of inventory in the supply chain.)
r/CampingGear • Sierra Designs Alpenglow 6P is larger than expected. ->I have the 4p and 6p and they definitely block out the light
r/CampingGear • Good 6 person tent that can block out all light? ->I just finished my first cub scouts campout in a Coleman Skydome tent, the kind with the "Dark Room Technology" which I \*highly\* recommend if your child is on the younger side (mine is 7) because it really does stay nice and dark in there, great for kids being able to sleep even with late sunsets and early sunrises. We were not the only Coleman "Dark Room" tents in our pack. We have a 4-person and we fit two cots in there with some room in the middle, but if you go with [the 6-person version](https://www.coleman.com/camp-sports/tents-by-size/skydome-6-person-screen-room-camping-tent-with-dark-room-technology/SAP_2206907.html) you'd absolutely have plenty of room - it'll be downright spacious if you get the screen room. Setup is a breeze. I've only ever set this thing up by myself or with the help of my 7-year-old, which probably makes it take a few minutes longer but it's good for him to help. ;) I do have the one with the screen room, which is great for extra storage and keeping the sleeping area clean (our system is shoes don't go past the screen room), and the Skydome model has zip-up panels so the screen room stays dry even if it rains (which it did this past trip). The Coleman Carlsbad Dark Room has a fully mesh screen room which I'd imagine would basically trap water along the floor when it rained. Honestly the WeatherMaster pictured in your post looks like it would also let rain inside the screen room area, I'd make sure it has panels to zip up behind the mesh. I \*love\* having that extra screened in area though so I do recommend that.
r/camping • Tent Recommendations for Simple Scout Camp ->That's why I got a 4 person Coleman Skydome though I camp solo. I’m 5’4” and can stand almost straight. Got a beach chair and bucket toilet in there too. Couldn't stand up in my 3 person. Mine has a substantial covered foyer. Not all models have it. This is mine: [https://www.coleman.com/camp-sports/tents-by-size/skydome-4-person-camping-tent-with-full-fly-vestibule-evergreen/SAP\_2206946.html](https://www.coleman.com/camp-sports/tents-by-size/skydome-4-person-camping-tent-with-full-fly-vestibule-evergreen/SAP_2206946.html)
r/camping • Looking for a small tent you can stand up in ->I have a Coleman Skydome. I really like it, and can set it up from in the bag to staked down within 10 minutes by myself. I like that it is basically a screen tent with a secure rain fly over it. Eliminates condensation being inside the tent. If it is hot, just take the rain fly off. Mine is a "4 person", but I wouldn't plan more than 2 people with their gear in it.
r/CampingGear • Anybody have any recommendations for a portable 2 person tent? ->We have the 4 person tent for just two of us. It perfectly fit a queen size air mattress with enough room for personal bags and 2 small dogs. We have a 1 year old now, so we’re going to size up. The tent is super easy to set up/tear down. I usually did it by myself. We’ve camped in the rain and woke up dry with just the fly, no additional tarp needed. It’s a great tent.
r/camping • Coleman, skydome w/ dark room tech 10P ->We’ve car camped with a Coleman instant up (I think a Skydome 4) for 11 years. It survived a derecho at high elevation in 2020, and it has seen lots of rain and hail. We still use it for car camping a few times a year. There’s one pole on it that’s taped, couple patched up holes, and when it quits we’ll buy another one. For the price I don’t think we could ask much more out of it. Not saying you can’t do better, but they’re definitely not junk.
r/CampingGear • Are instant up tents a gimmick? ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS
