"significantly worse object avoidance than than the Dreame x40 and L40 ... The best feature of the L40/X40/p10 pro ultra is that they have class leading object avoidance so you don't have to pick up your cat's toys or prep your house every time you want to run the robot meaning you can run it on a daily schedule which will keep your house cleaner. ... I run my X40s daily and they never get stuck on cables, cat toys and other random junk that ends up on the floor."
"I can basically always trust my X40 to finish a midnight cleaning session in the dark and wake up to find it sitting in its dock and have clean floors in the morning."
"I think its hands down the best all around option right now, especially once you hook it up to the water line and drain, i run it daily in our house and we got rid of our cleaning help because of it."

"I have U3000 and night vision is great. ... I was rear ended 3 days after install at night and footage shows every expression on the ladies face as she slammed into me."
"records clear enough in day and night to submit to insurance or a YouTube channel"
"i want the best resolution camera back there, and the dual ones out there, including fitcamx, all have 1080p res. the viofo is 4k ... the last 5 cars have all had front and rear cameras, and at least 3 times we got punted in the rear, not once in the front. one time some dumbass ran in to us at the wendys drive thru. another was when we were stopped at a red lite."

"No issues, it's so small it's out of the way of the eyesight."
"it fits great behind the rear view mirror. ... from the drivers seat you cant even tell its there and its well below the Eyesight cameras. ... Highly recommend"
"it ’s so discrete no screen in your face ... I went for the discreteness of the camera"

"I live in Mexico in a place where temps can get up to 45°C (113°F) and by installing it on the black part of the windshield the camera doesn't get very hot."

"I lost 300$ on a50 gen 5,has worked maybe 10 hours totally ... and dock station froze and stayed in xbox mode after a regular software update... ... tried everything i could, believe me..."
"if you also regularly use Bluetooth on the go, then Astro isn for you as the Bluetooth is on the dock and not on the headset ... Astro is definitely not worth the price when the Bluetooth is on the dock. That was a stupid thing to do, because anyone who buys a headset with Bluetooth would want to use the headset away from their set up and Bluetooth on the go"
"The prices for wireless speakers/subwoofer that sync with a soundbar are outragious. ... 2000€ or more for a sonos arc ultra + sub + 2 rear speakers."

"The app. It's a complete pain in the ass to view any footage ... it won't update the firmware because the dashcam connects to my phone via wifi and if it's connected via wifi, there's not any actual Internet access from the cellular signal so it can never update 🤣 what a joke."

"My DR970X Plus from JAN 2025 through JAN 2025 does NOT have HDR and is being returned immediately. ... HDR is not a fad, passing trend, or conspiracy pushed by Alex Jones. It the most basic item a camera must have to be useful at capturing details like license plates. ... Without HDR you might as well replace the recorded footage with the Windows 98 Bezier screensaver and extra-long mouse cursor trails. ... Recording a grainy blur in 4K is a high-quality grainy blur but it's still a grainy blur."

I use a DR970x Box Plus 2CH
Coming from a Viofo A139 Pro 2CH, here are my thoughts. The BlackVue software is much more user friendly compared to the Viofo software. I do prefer the video I get from the Viofo though. Viofo is able to utilize HDR and you aren't locked to 1 minute recordings. On top of that, the video sometimes look grainy on the blackvue. With the blackvue though, I also have a blackvue external battery that integrates well in the app. I also changed from a Viofo because it stopped working after a year of use. EDIT: I guess I am satisfied, but do wish there were some improvements on the blackvue model.
I have the Blackvue DRX970 Box. I like that the cameras are smaller because the camera components are housed in the box. You can put the box in your dash and lock it in there. The box also has a locked section over the cables and memory card slot. You have to use a key to remove it so that the card can be accessed. The video quality is fine but it seems that the Viofo A229pro has better image quality based on YouTube videos
The BlackVue DR970X-BOX-PLUS is probably one of the most heat resistant dash cams as the recording unit is kept separate from the cameras.
I’m using the BlackVue DR970X-2CH Box Plus.
I purchased the BlackVue DR970X-2CH Box Plus 4K UHD Cloud Dash Cam. Includes front and rear with a tamper resistant box to plug it all in and house the memory card. https://preview.redd.it/jpt9n80coz2f1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=160540774d2662ea746ea68e9b6d2cee59953c9e

It wasn’t terrible but time consuming. Probably spent a solid four hours on it. The rear hatch wiring through their grommets and wire housing was the hardest part. I bought a smaller sized wire feeder/puller that helped a lot. I followed a couple write ups on the civic forums and pulled from both to get it done. Edit: this model also has the constant and accessory power connection so it can record when parked. It has an auto shut off for low battery and so far I haven’t been left stranded lol.

Blackvue box models mount the recorder out of sight, and make it harder to try and rip out, so are a good fit .
If you park where there is wifi Thinkware u3000. Decent product, and top customer service in many countries. If not a 4k Blackue LTE or Box model. Getting through a reseller provides another customer service option. You can get an ODB2 power cable for either.
Blackvue Box cams are great for convertibles. The cameras are small, and the recording unit mounts separately. VHB holds the cam securely to the wind blocker, back of the headrest, etc., and they just dangle from the cable when they do fall off.
BlackVue DR970X-2CH Box Plus is a great option. Recording unit gets tucked away behind the glover box or wherever, and that just leaves a tiny camera for the front and back windows.
You need to choose between a wide field view or a narrow focus on plates, and almost all cams choose the former. Add in low quality cameras and video compressed for uploading and you get what you describe. Thinkware U3000 and Blackvue DR970x plus are decent options.
Thinkware has a higher heat tolerance. Blackvue Box is also a great choice in the heat.
Blackvue box models are your best option. * One of the better options for 4g cameras. * Not easy to rip off the window and toss by the thief.
>rear view replacement any good None are great. I like the Blackvue box models for college kids. Recording unit mounts separately. The Thinkware Q200 is a great starting point for a basic cam.
Whatever you do, don't get a fitcam X. As attractive as the idea of an OEM look is, they are extremely cheaply made, and extremely unreliable. I had such a poor experience that I got a Blackvue X970 box. The most expensive cam I could get. The front camera is relatively small as all the processing is in a seperate box. Its been absolutely flawless. Most dash cam use the same Sony starvis 2 sensor, so any cam with that sensor should look very good.
I'm pretty settled on the Blackvue "box" model given the cams are very small since the recording hardware is external. But I hesitate because the thinkware radar function is really compelling for park mode battery saving, plus for some reason these setups don't include 3-channel to have an interior cam capturing side windows as well.
if heat is the concern, make sure to buy a dash cam that has supercapacitors rather than batteries. i have had the BlackVue DR970x Plus which proved bulletproof during the hottest Summer on record last year. my credit cards and ID’s all had to be replaced because they melted and warped, but the BlackVue keeps running without issues. other brands that use capacitors, Viofo, Vantrue and Thinkware. Viofo tends to get the most love around here (for good reasons), but i hated the aesthetics of it and how it looked on my windshield. I was able to stealth-mount the BlackVue in a manner where it’s hidden out of my view behind the rear view mirror.
BlackVue DR970x plus. I have one in all 3 of my Subarus and a Honda. Saved my butt when I got rear ended and was blamed for slamming on my brakes. Video evidence showed way different.
