I have a Garmin Dash Cam 57 Plug & Play Kit that I got from Trail Grid Pro for the front and have no complaints. Installation was fairly easy too. Haven’t found a good rear option I like yet though.
I got a garmin and there is in adapter to plug it into the obd2 port that is supposedly always on, going to install it this weekend.
That was something I was thinking about as well. Hopefully it works that way I will let you know. u/Living_Box_1300 seems to be working pretty well. Has 24 hr mode 10 min mode and always on mode. Haven't had any problems even leaving the car parked for over a week. Seems to work.
I have 3 Garmin dash cams in my Honda. 0 issues in almost 4 years. They’re extremely reliable with the voice commands, Bluetooth/ Wifi synchronicity and playback (with phone in car and home with laptop). I’m rockin’ the Garmin Tandem 180 degree wide angle front and interior recording (2 in 1) and the Garmin 56W 140 degree wide angle in back. I highly recommend the SanDisk High Endurance SD cards for loop recording. I tried the Samsung ones and not the best.
I have the garmin dash cam 57 hardwired in the front and the mini in the back
My Garmin 57 just plugs into the battery 12v socket. Most dashcams will come with a cable so you have the option to do that
I have a Garmin one. Don’t remember exactly which one. 57W or 67W something like that. Was a little weird navigating UI and took me far too long to figure out how to put it in gallery mode, but I’ve never had any issues with the camera and it takes great videos. I bough a fairly large SD card for it, so I’ve only had to reformat once or twice. Was a bit pricey. But cheap in the long run, if you ever actually need the footage for insurance.
I know 2 guys with them that have been really happy. They are still selling units. There are a lot of action cameras but I went down the rabbit hole and two issues hit most, battery life (I wanted at min 4 hours) and dashcam mode that was useful. I ended up getting the Garmin front (recently) and rear (over 2 years ago) and have been really happy. For me integration to make it easy and on every ride is key. I move them between bikes in 30 seconds too this way.
