"I live in a 2700 square foot cookie-cutter tract house. First floor is laminate with an office that has carpet. Then there’s the stairs which leads to 5 carpeted bedrooms, two tile bathrooms, a laundry room, and a walk-in carpeted closet. I can get all of that done one charge."
"I'm almost certainly gonna go with the A329. I just learned that the 70mai A810 uses a battery and not a capacitor. Batteries are terrible for dash cams due to how hot the inside of a car gets in the summer here."
"I've used it in May and January, perfection in every season."

"i want the best resolution camera back there, and the dual ones out there, including fitcamx, all have 1080p res. the viofo is 4k ... the last 5 cars have all had front and rear cameras, and at least 3 times we got punted in the rear, not once in the front. one time some dumbass ran in to us at the wendys drive thru. another was when we were stopped at a red lite."
"the starvis 2 sensor this has is great. I have both the older and newer viofo units, and the starvis 2 definitely makes a difference compared to the previous gen."
"I got it because of the Starvis 2 sensor which gives improved clarity in the dark. ... If anyone is driving at night I highly recommend any dashcam with a Starvis 2 sensor."

"Their customer support was very bad, multiple times just stopped responding to me until it was out of warranty."
Nexar Beam , just get a USB C to USB A adaptor
I have a Nexar Beam in my 2018 718 base and in my daily (2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz), and I am able to switch back and forth pretty much seamlessly with the Nexar app on my phone. Drives automatically start when the car is started, but I still usually open the app just to confirm it worked if switching back from the other vehicle. I use the console cigarette lighter port and ran the wire under the dash and along the windshield. Actual camera hides nicely out of view behind the mirror. Very good video quality. Available in either 32 or 64 GB, but Nexar allows for free unlimited cloud storage. You can also create a group in the app to alert family if you have an incident while driving (this came in handy a few years ago when someone drove into my daily- my girlfriend was alerted before I even pulled onto the shoulder). Also, it does create clips for hard brakes, hard cornering, and hard acceleration, so I sometimes enjoy watching those after a fun mountain drive. Amazon almost always has a sale running as well. Only downside to me is no rear view capability.
Nexar Beam has worked well for me.
I use a Nexar Beam records to SD card and can stream to your phone or tablet which can save to the cloud. Only records the road but can have audio from cab if you want. I think the newer version has lte connectivity though.
I’ve had a Nexar beam since 2020. I’ve replaced the sd card once, the usb power cable once. The suction cup with the gps component stopped working once between then and now and Nexar mailed me a replacement at no charge. Also I was slip seating from 2020 so I was taking it out every day which probably caused the issues with the cable and gps component (the wire got shorted from disconnecting every day).
I use Nexar and the video quality is good. Way cheaper than that. Cheapest I believe it $80.
Yup, I’ve had a regular Nexar Beam since 2021 and it’s been working fine. Very very rarely it disconnects and doesn’t record a drive but it’s so simple to fix. Literally just open the app and let it sync up to the camera and you’re good to go. It’s definitely good for a budget. My biggest con for Nexar is there’s no rear camera option other than buying another Beam and paying for their subscription service to be able to have both front and back cameras recording at once.
Many dashcam companies are scam work, meaning their cameras themselves come from the same company, just different body, packaging, build and brand, then varies in prices. Mine is Nexar, not too expensive, entry level and pretty solid 1080p. Any camera claiming 4k is bullshit, trus me there is no dashcam with real 4k (only ads). Id say spend only up to 150-200 for dashcam and put it on yourself. Cables are suuuuper easy to hide going up from the windshield, to the side, down past your carpet, then up to your charging area. Dont waste too much money to buy labor unless you dont care about money and got a ton of it, go ahead youre more than welcome. Edit: Youll see 4k selling around 300-400 bucks. They might be real but i never really try it because i dont think they really that worth it.
Nexar is actually a good one if you don’t use wireless CarPlay/AA. It maintains a WiFi connection with your phone and videos are stored there as well as the camera. Makes it easy to review the footage.
VIOFO is one that a lot of people get and I've fitted one on another car our family has. I currently use Nexar but I'm also thinking about getting another VIOFO cam. Idk if VIOFO make dashcams using other sensors but just make sure you get one with the Sony sensor. Video quality is really good on all of their cams and there are plenty of videos showcasing the quality too. Just be aware (idk if this is for all dashcams), if you want to hardwire it to use the Parking Mode, you will have to purchase the hardware for that separately. When we bought everything it came up to £115 or £120?
