"Super easy. ... Took about 20-30 minutes"

"It plugs right into the power source for the lane assist and hides inside the housing for it so I can basically just forget it’s there until I need to grab a clip."

"Dream to fit as it connects to existing "safety eye camera" around rear vision mirror. ... Took 5 minutes. Could do it in one minute next time."

"I have U3000 and night vision is great. ... I was rear ended 3 days after install at night and footage shows every expression on the ladies face as she slammed into me."

"records clear enough in day and night to submit to insurance or a YouTube channel"

"i want the best resolution camera back there, and the dual ones out there, including fitcamx, all have 1080p res. the viofo is 4k ... the last 5 cars have all had front and rear cameras, and at least 3 times we got punted in the rear, not once in the front. one time some dumbass ran in to us at the wendys drive thru. another was when we were stopped at a red lite."

Im on my 3rd Thinkware product. (I buy a new one for each new vehicle.) Just traded in my 2020 Honda Passport (it had the Thinkware U1000). Receiving my 2026 Passport Elite this afternoon at 3pm. Already ordered Thinkware U3000 from Amazon and should receive it this afternoon. I normally pay a local collision repair $100-200 to install the rear camera and hide the wires.

My 2013 a35 came with every type of connectiion you can imagine, even for digital télé, but no aux. Had CarPlay retro installed and they used a USB to AUX. I had this done in RadioKing. As for my dashcam set up I went for a Thinkware u1000 Front & rear because I previously had a Nextbase that died within a year. Got the dashcams and fitting from Amir at [ICE](https://icesystems.ie/) absolute gents & very neat work.

Here's a good video https://youtu.be/OWL5Um5Wi8s?si=zY04yshxKa2rWF41. I think I used this as a reference when I installed my Thinkware U1000.

I have my U1000 hardwired with parking mode radar. This device also tells me about red light camera's, mobile speed zones and speed cameras.

*"ambient" cabin lighting* *Looks like the bridge of a Klingon battlecruiser under attack* But as for dashcams, any Thinkware product is a decent choice. They have a pretty wide selection of front and rear cameras. The U1000 set has been working just fine for 5+ years in all conditions of a *semi-arid Köppen climate.*

r/CarsAustraliaBest dashcams in Australia that cost less than $250? Or should I just get a BlackVue one for $1.5k?

i dont rate the blackvues i think they are pretty rubbish i would actually buy the thinkware series heres why. 1. Its cheaper than Blackvue 2. It has excellent smart parking features like impact, motion sensors, radar, etc) 3. excellent image quality day and night. 4. One thing i really really like that i havent found other cameras have is speed camera/red light camera alerts... as you drive up to one it warns you and tells you theres speed cameras ahead... even in places like tunnels etc... i've got a U3000, U1000 and Arc in my 3 cars.. yes i tried different models to see which is better.. much of a muchness.. the ARC series is great value for money ... and very good.. thats my honest opinion.. ive used Blackvues before. decent competent cameras.. image quality is ok not the best... but tends to be buggy as well... my Blackvue stopped recording for some reason... wasnt writing to memory card.. had no idea why.. and when i needed it for a incident... i realised it wasnt recording anything.... no amount of resets reflashing fixed it...just not a fan of blackvue

Thinkware U1000D front and rear. Purchased on a Subaru and Kia installed by professional Strathfield card radios. It’s been 5-6 years and still running well - app is updated regularly and I still have good quality recording to download onto my phone

Autobarn are doing the Thinkware U1000 for $499 at the minute which I thought must've been a pisstake when I saw it in the catalogue (having paid $800ish on sale a couple years back). This is the creme de la creme of dashcams. 4K front cam, 1080 rear cam, comes with a 64GB micro SD card for storage. If I had $1,000 to spend on a dashcam I would grab the $499 Thinkware U1000 from Autobarn, pay someone I trust to install, and look at replacing the standard battery in my car with whatever Fullriver HC series battery suits the car it was all going into. The battery replacement isn't necessary at all considering the dashcam's voltage/motion/shock sensing software settings but if you're willing to spend the money it's nice to have a big battery capacity buffer so you know it's going to capture EVERYTHING. I've found the Thinkware software to be quite easy to use as far as recovering footage goes, although the last clip I grabbed the time was out by an hour due to DST. I haven't attempted to fix that due to laziness so it could be that I've fucked up rather than the software fucking up.
