Depends on how decent you want. Realistically to prove who is at fault in an accident, just get the cheapest dashcam (edit: with a lot of reviews and high stars) with the features you want on Amazon, you don't even need a rear camera (only type of accident where it helps prove fault is some types of merging accidents). Features like GPS (to record speed), voice control, and WiFi app connection to download videos easily are all nice to have. Parking mode always requires hardwiring to your car so that's extra hassle but can be done by either connecting to fuse box of OBD2 port, just get the type of cable you need for that. If you want to capture license plates you basically need a camera with the Sony starvis 2 sensor, preferably the 4k version IMX 678 instead of 675. I'd recommend a VIOFO, Vantrue isn't bad either (don't get their E360 if you care about capturing detail, it sucks at that due to wide FOV and 2K sensor, but it's otherwise a cool product). Beware of cameras that have bad processing and can't take advantage of the sensor, as well as cameras that only use a good sensor on the front camera and not the rear. Some others like top end Blackvue and Thinkware cameras are also not bad with features like LTE capability or radar parking mode, but they get hella expensive and the video quality isn't really better. If you do ride share, get one with a cabin cam.

Check out vantrue e360 ace. It comes with motion detection and you can go to any car shops that installs stereo to install a hardwire kit so it continuously runs while your parked. It's 360 and no blind spots and has a rear camera turns on as soon as movement is detected within like 5 feet of your car just make sure to park it where there's less movement.

I got the vantrue e360 ace and got it hardwired with powercell 8 powerbank. I noticed without a powerbank and just hardwired through the cars battery it usually cuts off after a few hours. Got it professionally installed at a car stereo shop

The A810 Plus definitely has a supercap, and looks to be solid as anything. I do use the A329 in two channel mode but it has intermittent issues with my Kingston external SSD, Viofo has had to backtrack on its claims of compatibility with SSD enclosures - it's been a mess. A119 V3 I've still got one in the drawer that was my daily for a couple of years, it can't be beaten in the Australian heat here and for it's video quality. Vantrue has caught up a lot in terms of their app and image quality, I would go for E1 Pro which seems to be the pick for a cheap 4k single unit solution. The e360 is a bit out of an outlier as they're trying something new - they have had their doozies like the s1 pro which was quickly replaced by the N2X which was way way better. To be honest, it's a three way battle between Viofo 70mai and Vantrue now. Totally understand the convenience of the Wolfbox and the form factor , it definitely has it's use cases and I can't fault that in the slightest. Wolfbox seem to be getting their game together now which is good. I agree with you on the x800, it seems like that's what the issue is. Shame really but what can you do. To be honest the a810 plus seems to be the safer buy even if the cabin is a crappy 1080p only. YouTube reviewers don't mention these issues not a single one mentioned it for the x800 even though they would have the Dec and January batch units that had the issues.

Vantrue e360, peel and stick to windshield..... The dealership is the last place I would go to install a dashcam. Any car stereo, window tinting place can install dashcams, and hide the wires so it don't look like sht......

I use a vantrue N5 and E360, both are not under $100...they may have ones under $100.... There is a lens filter for some of their cameras that you would need to configure by rotating till you find the sweet spot otherwise there would be a glare from the sun or headlights. As for night driving lol, your lights reflect off the other car's plate when you review footage their plates are whited out.... Thus if you're not injured read out the plate, your dashcam will record your voice....that's if it doesn't fly off the mount....

I've been using an inexpensive one for months with my Vantrue E360, less than $16 currently (B0DJQWNZDW). The extra features are nice: switchable continuous power for parking mode or 20-minutes of power after car is shut off, and will turn dashcam on if car is vibrated. One issue is whether it fits in the OBD II plug with the cord coming out of the side, something OP should check if going this route.

I got the Vantrue E360 and it’s been great. The fish eye lens covers the whole car, not just the front and rear. It also has motion detection, so it records when someone get too close, not just on impact. If you want remote access, it support lte, but you’d need to get the module separately.

I really like my Vantrue E360. It’s a bit different from traditional 2 channel dash cam since it can record both inside the car and along the side doors, which is super useful, especially in parking mode.

I’ve just learned that the Tesla dash cam may fail to record the footage after a severe crash where the battery shuts down and somehow corrupted the footage. Not sure if this is an independent case that Kim Java use her personal experience to promote the Vantrue E1. https://youtu.be/nMBl5_CG8Hw?si=NqUatWXyw7DsI79v My main concern is the Tesla Dash Cam front windshield angle is very narrow and lacks audio recordings that maybe useful in case of emergency. Tesla dash cam also doesn’t store the wide angle camera footage which is a huge bummer. I see the Vantrue E360 can capture 360 degrees with audio at high resolution and frame rate. I’ve tried different brands of dash cam on my older cars, including the Ring Dash Cam which is by far the closest to the Tesla Dash Cam but doesn’t support Tesla. The saving footage can be problematic when there’s no cell signal. Does anyone install additional dash cam to your Model X? How do you wire given such huge windshield? Any other dash cam models that you like?

I owned the N4 non pro version and liked it so I am sure the pro would be better. Now I run the viofo a229 and also like it. A good thing about the viofo is that all 3 are separate cameras so if one breaks down you can just replace that one. With the N4 I believe you have to buy the whole package if the main camera goes down. Have you taken a look at the E360 from vantrue? I got that one recently for my vehicle I do uber in and so far it's been good. Easy to setup since it's a single camera and it has touchscreen. The touchscreen part isn't a huge deal since you can control the N4 and a229 from phone apps but it is a nice feature to have. I think you could also setup a rear camera and an LTE module to it.

Most dashcams with “GPS” feature show speed. [Vantrue has some good 2 channel and 3 channel cams](https://www.reddit.com/r/dashcams/s/65SdNGK6Jc) tried and tested. Same with VIOFO, Garmin, and blackvue. Stay away from Pruveeo.

I have a vantrue that captures front and cabin. I got it when i was driving my Crosstrek and could see my dogs in the back and it could see out the rear window. I really didn’t want to wire a rear one, not as straight forward as the windshield. Anyway, it’s 2k front and rear or 4k front only and has captured a lot of cool shit. Accidents, wildlife trying to commit suicide and it’s kinda fun to check footage after some spirited driving. I got my daughter the newer model that connects via WiFi and she loves it.
