Based on 1 year's data from Jan 28, 2026 How it works
Vantrue N2x with the inside camera off so front camera has max resolution. Also hooked up Dongar Pro adapter to pre installed wiring in the headliner. I have it setup to record 4 hours after parking instead of always but zero wiring it’s lovely
I have the vantrue N2X dashcam for my 2015 Forester. I didn't hardwire it, I worked the 11ft power cord along the inside of the front passenger A-pillar and along the door jam and under the passenger side carpet and plugged it into the power outlet in the center console since I never used it anyway. I've only had it for only 3 months but I like it so far. Except it does randomly take pictures and idk why 😂
[Go with the VanTrue N2X](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D9GRRXH5/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_PGXHPXAKZJ6D407Q1S0Y?linkCode=ml1&tag=lfttscl-dbc-20). It’s the next gen from the N2 Pro which is used by a lot of Uber drivers and has had good reviews and reliability. To get the function of recording for several minutes after engine shut off, have an extra battery bank or hardwire it.
That’s a great camera and exactly what I was going to recommend for you. Pair it with [a max endurance memory card](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B084CJ9T2R/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_WFFHDWCRNAPCVZJ2PGSF?linkCode=ml1&tag=lfttscl-dbc-20) and you’ll be good to go.
Amazon has dashcams available. You only need to clean the area of the window you apply the mount to, and run the cable from your outlet. I bought the "Vantrue N2X Dashcam" and it's awesome. It's got an app if you need to view things quickly and is pretty small. I like it anyhow....
Spend the $ and get a Vantrue. N2X is on sale on Amazon for $150. It records front and interior. Or splurge and get an N5S, also on sale on Amazon for $300, records front rear and interior from 2 angles. If not those then do some research and find one you like. Don’t get the cheap Chinese ones. Also, get a decent sized memory card for it.
I got the Vantrue N2X because my car has cameras recording the outside, but after a passenger jumped in front of my car on Christmas Eve (she wasn’t at the pick up spot and saw me leaving the area) and tried to get me deactivated, I decided I needed interior audio to prove what she did. Lyft obviously sided with me because you can see her run to get in front of my car, but if she hadn’t, I would have had no proof. It’s cheaper since it doesn’t have a rear camera, but still effective when it comes to false passenger claims.
Vantrue n2x is good - it has front and interior rear facing cameras and runs off a capacitor. Do not get a dash camera with a lithium ion battery - their batteries will swell and become inoperable here in the summer heat.
Almost run off the road three times last month. Got the Vantrue with an interior camera. It's the kind a lot of Uber drivers use. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D9GRRXH5?ref_=pe_123509780_1038749300_fed_asin_title
I've got the Vantrue model with an interior camera, the kind Uber drivers use. Tons of features, including night vision, and it's got wifi so you can transfer video to your phone to show the police.
No commercial links allowed, so go to vantrue dot com and search for Nexus 2X.
I went with the Vantrue N2X. It has a forward facing and cabin camera. The cabin camera actually does a good job seeing out the side and back windows as well. Bought the power adapter from Trail Grid Pro and wired it up to my rear view mirror.
I've got a Vantrue N2X; admittedly I got a great deal on it ($130) But I did alot of research, and Vantrue seems to be a good reputable brand in this space. if I can I'll pull my SDcard later, upload a video. [https://www.amazon.com/Vantrue-STARVIS-Support-Parking-Control/dp/B0D9GRRXH5](https://www.amazon.com/Vantrue-STARVIS-Support-Parking-Control/dp/B0D9GRRXH5) Looks like theres a coupon for $40 off, from $199. The app kinda sucks, I won't lie, but for me I just pull the SDcard and plop it into a reader in my PC(s) if I need the files. and its totally fine. \*\*I should add, I was looking for something that did cabin recording AND front recording was my prerogative. Its hard(er) to find a decent one that does both for a reasonable price.
