"Super easy. ... Took about 20-30 minutes"
"It plugs right into the power source for the lane assist and hides inside the housing for it so I can basically just forget it’s there until I need to grab a clip."
"Dream to fit as it connects to existing "safety eye camera" around rear vision mirror. ... Took 5 minutes. Could do it in one minute next time."

"But honestly - the fitcamx just for the front is perfectly fine for 95% people and gives you protection for on the road events."
"the footage was fully recovered and irrefutably proved the other driver at fault."
"I keep a USB-C/A micro SD card reader in all my vehicles so if there's an accident I can just grab the memory card with me. I had this save my bacon once when involved in an accident with a red-light runner."

"Reliability wise is was rock solid never having an ounce of issues with it through three winters and two whole summers."
"Yeah they are specifically better in the heat than other cameras because they use a super capacitor instead of a battery to do the final writing to the SD card when the power gets cut by your car. ... Batteries tend to have issues in extreme heat/cold"
"I've had a Viofo A129 for a couple of years now, and I leave it in the car 24/7 without issues despite the heat and cold."

"What I think IS A MUST, especial for "wawing" social posts, COLORGRADING. And for this, you need a drone that suports D-cime/DLOG/DLOGM video mode, which give alot of flexibility how the shot will end up after post processing - this is a big part!! This mods start with Mini3 pro forward"
"Have you tried shooting in HLG on your A3S? I use this for better results at night. ... HLG is only 100-1600 but definitely gives a better looking result. ... I post process color grading HLG to HDR and looks way better than night mode because you get a larger dynamic range of colors and light to shadows from the original video done in HLG."
"Picture quality is the best I've had"

"I hardwired it and hid the wires behind the paneling on my car so it wasn’t noticeable and I had front and rear cameras."

"Very reliably unreliable ... having two pairs replaced under warranty and still failed on the third."
"Initially a loud screech blowing my eardrum. ... Then a crackling like you have a car window open going 80mph. ... Then the headphone completely fails; no sound. ... this song and dance will continue until "oops, you're outside the warranty period, thanks for the $270"."
"But the App and my phone just did NOT get along. ... They would constantly disconnect."

"My DR970X Plus from JAN 2025 through JAN 2025 does NOT have HDR and is being returned immediately. ... HDR is not a fad, passing trend, or conspiracy pushed by Alex Jones. It the most basic item a camera must have to be useful at capturing details like license plates. ... Without HDR you might as well replace the recorded footage with the Windows 98 Bezier screensaver and extra-long mouse cursor trails. ... Recording a grainy blur in 4K is a high-quality grainy blur but it's still a grainy blur."
"The thinkware, while you can see a lot, is blown out so bad you can't make any license plates or signs out."
"it is still hard to read plates."

"App is a pain to get footage from though."
"It's also extremely slow with Wi-Fi transfer"
"the app was not retrieving any videos"

"After 6 months of living in Phoenix (very hot summers, like 115 degrees), my A129 Pro Duo died. ... the second died within the next year because of over heating."
"I don't trust them anymore with their built in capacitors that died."
"The rear camera died at 13 months which stopped the front from recording. ... They wanted me to pay $40 for a replacement rear cam though it was still in warranty."

I have a Viofo Dual cam; the current version would be A129 Pro Duo. I've had it for several years prior to owning my Mav. It's been very reliable and I like that I could add a CPL filter. Mine is hardwired in using #3 (Auto-dimming Interior mirror) for ignition on and #5 (Lock. Unlock) for constant power.
Can vouch for Viofo, I've had A129 Pro Duo for a few years and it's not let me down, great image quality, cost something like $300 or so, hardwired it myself, all pretty simple. The only thing that failed on it was the 3M adhesive on a particularly hot day this year.
VIOFO A129 Pro dual with circular polarizer and hard wire kit. Took about two hours to do a very clean install. Get a Samsung Pro Endurance SD card too.
6 years and 4 years in Arizona heat for my A119 V3 and A129 Pro Duo, respectively. Still going strong. OP, [this post convinced me to get a VanTrue S1 Pro](https://www.reddit.com/r/dashcams/comments/1luh6dy/vantrue_s1_pro_max_is_the_probably_the_nicest_cam/), which is a dual 4k system. Only had it for about 4 months but I will say the app is way better than any other dashcam I’ve used.
A129 pro duo i think. Works great.
Viofo makes very good dash-cams available on Amzn, they’re highly ranked in reviews, not cheap units. I have three A229 2K dual cameras and A129 Pro 4K dual on a total of 4 cars. The A129 pro got stolen by tow truck driver when it was headed to the mechanic. If you’re DIY installing the rear camera can take a little bit of work threading the long cable, but lots of YouTube video step by steps. Viofo also has front-only A119 V3 cameras, those are easy to install you simply push the cable into the headliner and down the A pillar, around the back of the glove box to your 12V power source. There’s also a short power cable you can buy that tape power from the power home-link rear view mirror.
I have the Viofo A129 Pro Duo. I’ve used it between 2 different cars, and it’s sufficient. If your budget is a little bigger, I recently bought my mom the Viofo A229 Pro Dual. The video quality seems much sharper and has voice commands if necessary like telling it to save the video or take a picture and more but it’s a little bigger
Which one? I’ve had the A119 V3 and the A129 Pro duo in the hot Arizona climate for the last 7 years and they still work great.
I've had dashcams for over 12 years and have used Viofo in all our cars for probably 5 years or so. Excellent quality and very very reliable. I currently have viofo A129 dual 4k pros in our cars. Have a look at the dashcam forums for in depth reviews. https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/
Viofo’s are a great value, but be cautious if you live in a high heat area. After 6 months of living in Phoenix (very hot summers, like 115 degrees), my A129 Pro Duo died. Replaced it under warranty and the second died within the next year because of over heating. Did thorough research and picked up a BlackVue 900X Plus and it’s been rock solid for the last 2 years.
