"One of the best picture quality in dash cams on the market in both day and night."
"The A229Pro is already leaps ahead of the vantrue and blackvue when it comes to video quality."
"their software updates eventually corrected all the issues we noticed. The video quality viofo offers is the benchmark in the dash cam industry that other manufacturers try to achieve in our opinion."

"I just installed my A229 2-channel cameras yesterday, I highly recommend using the ASC connector that you can buy off of Hachi Electronics. Makes it so much easier to hardwire than messing around with the fusebox."
"simple install ... most of this job is just plugging cables in and routing wires. You only have to crimp 2 wires for connecting add a fuse taps"
"Very easy install too."

"Capacitor powered. That’s what makes them be able to handle hot and cold temps. I would never get a battery powered dashcam."
"Yeah they are specifically better in the heat than other cameras because they use a super capacitor instead of a battery to do the final writing to the SD card when the power gets cut by your car. ... Batteries tend to have issues in extreme heat/cold"
"I second this as well."

"It, actually just saved my ass and paid for itself several times over. A dump truck failed to merge and took out my right quarter panel."

"1440p front and 1440p back camera ... good quality"
"If you’re looking for a dual cam then, the A229 Plus is the way to go ... So if you want a front and rear cam, I’d go with that."

"I couldn't get my cable to fit through that gasket from the body to the hatch ... The loop of wire is annoying."

"It does NOT handle the Florida heat at all. ... Constant shutdowns while driving and parked have rendered it absolutely useless. ... Viofo's solution? Kick it down to 1080 / 2k and hope works. It did not. ... The camera is seriously flawed."
"The mirror power is not on when the car is off, so the dashcam will also be unpowered when the car is off, so no recording when parked if u use the mirror power."
"You may get around 4-8 hours in parking mode depending on the state of the car battery and the voltage you set the cutoff to. ... I needed a longer parking mode duration so I've added a dashcam battery as well."

I got two Pruveeos 9 years ago. One is still going, but the other died after 6 years. I got a 2 channel Viofo for my wife's car. The rear camera died at 13 months which stopped the front from recording. I figured out that the front worked fine if I unplugged the rear. They wanted me to pay $40 for a replacement rear cam though it was still in warranty. I just tossed it and switched to Garmin. I'm not saying to buy Pruveeo the video quality sucks, but they were only $37.
r/Dashcam • Overwhelmed with dashcam options. What should I get? ->I second this as well. They also have sales often.
r/arizona • Dashcam recommendations? ->I love this brand. I have yet to see anyone else with such good quality. I have the 129, 229 and the recent 329 version in my truck. No issues at all. Money well spent.
r/YEGDashCam • Looking for Dash Cam recommendations. ->Yes, but I’d recommend a dashcam with higher resolution than 1080p. Preferably 2.5K* or 4K. I like Viofo.
r/Camry • Dash cam ->Whatever you pick, I’d recommend against a camera that dangles off a mount unless it’s very small. I tried a Thinkware Q200 but I had to take it off immediately bc the Tacoma windshield is so small, it distracted my view no matter where I tried mounting it. I got a Viofo A229 instead and like another commenter, I mounted it in the black dot area of the windshield next to the mirror and I hardly notice it.
r/ToyotaTacoma • for those of you who have dashcams, what’s the best one that you’d recommend? ->I changed mine for a Viofo A229 plus (F+R) this year, and it's a big improvement over my last one (which was a NextBase). It's been a lot more reliable (not randomly restarting, no need to constantly format to fix errors), and the quality is really good. OP if you're not worried about price and go for a Viofo, definitely go for the Pro models as while the 1440p is adequate at the higher bitrate setting, it's not as crisp as some footage I've seen from the pros. That said, the A229 plus is still the best dash cam I've ever owned. Overall, the firmware is good, the 3 wire hardwire kit is excellent and the app is handy for getting single files off via WiFi, though it takes a minute or so for a 3 minute clip.
r/CarTalkUK • How did you decide which dashcam to get? ->Reposting here from another comment I made elsewhere - purchased the VIOFO 229 Plus https://a.co/d/eJBAVxF and also this adapter that plugs in right under the steering wheel area so it’s not hardwired directly to the battery but does let you pull continuous power using the OBD connection under the steering wheel like mentioned https://a.co/d/aG8ZMxg
r/MazdaCX30 • Dash cam recommendations that work with USB-C – no modifications ->Been looking into this as well. I like my Viofo A229 in my Mustang, and will eventually buy one for the new CX-50 but with the preferred trim the hard wiring seems to be the hardest part with no sunroof or frameless mirror. Would love to know if others have done it and whether they went into the engine bay through the firewall or tapped in somewhere else
r/CX50 • Dash cam for cx-50 preferred hybrid ->We had a FitCamX hardwired in our 24 Ioniq 5 and it would not loop record. I had 2 very close calls the FitCamX completely missed. FitCamX could not resolve why my camera would not work, and after 1 month of trying, I yanked it out and replaced it with a Viofo A229 that has been flawless. I have ours setup for recording when parked, a function the FitCamX failed at as well. A lot of people report good experience with FitCamX but that wasn't my use case. When we were troubleshooting the FitCamX, it had a Beta testing vibe to the process. FitCamX will relentlessly work with you to their credit and when I returned the camera to them, they fully refunded me without any prodding.
r/Ioniq5 • FitcamX vs alternatives ->I had a hardwired FitCamX, and it would not loop record. I ended up replacing it with a hardwired VIOFO A229, which has been flawless. I had two near-miss incidents, the FitCamX missed, and after several attempts to fix the issue with FitCamX, I gave up on it. A dashcam is for peace of mind, and I could trust that the device would work when needed. If you get the FitCamX, thoroughly test and periodically confirm that it is doing loop recordings. FitCamX as a company is reputable and well-intended. They refunded me the full amount without any prodding. We needed our camera to be hardwired because we want to record when the car is parked; this is a feature the FitCamX does not support.
r/Ioniq5 • Dashcam Recommendations ->My thought as well. The SD card must be the higher-quality Extreme or Industrial use. You may experience irratic behaviors that are unexplainable in some cases. The lower quality SD cards can be more exposed to vibration while writing to the card. The speed on the higher quality are much faster, ~190 Mbs per second enabling writing your video clips to the SD less read/write errors or video loss. The lower quality SD card writes about ~100Mbs per second also half the speed of the higher end. I have owned Viofo for at least ten years and have not been disappointed. The continue to add features or benefits to their product mix. I have undated the firmware to the latest version. Like any technology updating your firmware that is recommended by the OEM is key to any satisfaction. The A229 and 329 dash cams have very fast video and snapshot photos or parking mode. THIS would probably explain your to slow message when it reads the card or formats the card it sees a low speed transfer or read/write. Anyways, Best dash cam I have used.
