This is the one, and your coffee brews in like 4 minutes. Carafe keeps coffee hot for hours and it brews at the right temperature since the speed brew keeps a tank hot vs boiling to push the water up.

Yes keep them separate, look into the Bunn speed brew with thermal carafe for a brewer. Keeps water at the right temperature and brews quickly.

I have a similar model that has a stainless steel carafe and thus no heating pad. The carafe keeps the coffee hot for at least an hour. Heating pads damage the taste of coffee IMO.  https://www.kohls.com/product/prd-3514337/bunn-csb3t-speed-brew-platinum-thermal-10-cup-coffee-maker.jsp These machines are super efficient. They keep a hot water tank so there is no need to heat up water. Just pour in the amount you need for your grounds and it will displace the appropriate amount of hot water to pour over the grounds.

Its up to 10 cups. There's only two of us in my house. I usually make about 600 to 700 ml. I use the same ratios and grind size as my pour over and it comes out fantastic

I've been using a Bunn Speed Brew for about 7yrs. It's really simple and brews great coffee. I think I bought mine for about $100. You have to use the Bunn filters, though. https://retail.bunn.com/38200.0002

Gotta love the stainless steel reservoir. If you only use filtered water, it rarely needs to be descaled. I bought a stainless steel spray head when the original one wore out and it has been great, too.

For regular drip coffee, you can't beat a Bunn coffee maker, and at $150-ish, you'll save some money. A coffee afficionado appreciates a thermal carafe, as opposed to burning coffee on a hot plate. I can vouch for: [https://www.amazon.com/BUNN-CSB3T-Platinum-Thermal-Coffee/dp/B07GY6PHYZ/](https://www.amazon.com/BUNN-CSB3T-Platinum-Thermal-Coffee/dp/B07GY6PHYZ/) If you want espresso, you'll have to look elsewhere.

Bunn or Moccamaster are the patented answer to this Q. I went with the Bunn, it is a better $ value than the Moccamaster.

Budget? Not sure what brand coffee maker you have, but getting the brew water up over 200deg F is the problem for most cheap coffee makers. They are limited for whatever reason (probably to prevent burn lawsuits, cuz you know, coffee is hot) to less than 180F and that won't extract the coffee solids very well. A pourover/kettle/scale combo with a good grinder is probably the cheapest way to buy a good setup if you are looking to buy new stuff, but you can usually score a used machine pretty easily if you look around. https://retail.bunn.com/38200.0002 Speed Brew Classic Thermal - Coffee Makers - BUNN Retail Site I’ve been using one of these pretty much daily for the past 10? years in my office at work. I got mine for like $20 off Craigslist.  67g coffee, 1L (1 Nalgene bottle) water, perfect amount for my use throughout the day. I wouldn’t brew less than that though.

I picked up a Bunn Gravity Speed Thermal at the thrift store for only a few bucks and it's my daily maker. It's super simple and brews a pot in less than a minute. My dad has had the same model for well over 25 years now https://retail.bunn.com/38200.0002

I have a Bunn Thermal. It's 15 years old. Same Bunn coffeemaker with a thermos pot so the coffee stays hot and doesn't burn. It makes great coffee consistently and fast.

r/BuyItForLifeSAFE alternative to Bunn MyCafe Coffee Maker?

EDIT to clarify: I have a v60. My husband and I drink very different beans, and he'd prefer an automatic single cup or tiny pot coffee maker like this. However, comments have some good ideas to consider. Just wanted to clarify : TLDR After a few years, **the Bunn MyCafe coffee maker forcefully ejects the little drawer with hot coffee grounds, causing it to fly across the room** \- almost hitting my baby or kids. Delicious coffee is not worth this risk. Is there another single cup brewer option that isn't K Cup? I first got a Bunn MyCafe circa 2015 after seeing the love for Bunn here. It did brew a killer single cup of drip coffee, using my grounds and no annoying K-Cups or pods. However, after 3 years it started ejecting the drawer of hot coffee grounds across the kitchen, almost hitting my baby. Bunn said it was odd, and replaced our machine. When it happened with the replacement, we ditched it. Bunn paused production, so we figured they fixed the problem. When MyCafe was back in production we ordered a new one (2 years ago). Despite cleaning and maintaining / descaling regularly, it's started ejecting the hot coffee drawer again. (See photos) We contacted Bunn, and they said we need to clean our screen in the drawer. (We do.) They sent us a new screen but it still does this. I can't believe the company is comfortable selling a machine that will begin to do such a dangerous thing after a few years of daily use. It seems unsafe, unconscionable, and certainly NOT BIFL. I do pourover, but others in my family do not. I'm hoping to find a single cup brewer that is safer than this Bunn mess.

Also not a snob, and my family has used a Bunn my whole life. I prefer the Bunn with a thermal carafe for daily use. Coffee stays fresh and hot for hours and is acceptable as iced coffee the next day if you don’t finish the pot. Until very recently I used one that was maybe 20 years old and had repaired it two or three times (~$10 kit on eBay). I’m 33 and that was the second Bunn my parents had owned in my lifetime. One day they told me they were getting rid of it because it didn’t work and had already gotten a new one so I took it. It was an easy fix. Eventually some plastic parts broke while I had guests staying over, and I finally bought a new one to solve my lack-of-coffee problem quickly. The new one delivers the same consistent pots as ol’ faithful.

I prefer the insulated because I remember my parents breaking a glass carafe when I was young, and this can survive many dents and still function. The coffee staying the same all day and not getting heated more probably does contribute to the taste too, but I’ve been using it for so long that I couldn’t tell you if the glass carafe heated for an hour actually tastes different.
