Funny I just came here to research coffee machines because my 15yo MoccaMaster given to me by my mom makes very meh coffee. Anyone have tips on what I could be doing wrong? I probably need to descale, I am guessing it has never been descaled in its lifetime.

I've been using the glass one for 5 years now and I've given it a fair share of accidental bumps and whacks into the counter top or the sink and have had no issues. Glass quality for a coffee machine isn't thicker=better If you feel yours has a manufacturing defect, contact customer support and get it replaced.

There's no mental gymnastics involved if you care about a better end product. If coffee is just a 'cup of jo' for you then you probably won't care enough about the difference

Theyre great! And still designed to be easily repairable. They also make a way better cup of coffee.

I have the glass carafe and thats what I would recommend. Some people prefer the stainless carafe with no heater but I like the glass. You can also find them on sale quite often.

Well besides lasting forever, it was the first coffee maker to be gold cup certified and basically until breville made a copy, the only consumer coffee maker one to be.

They do go on sale, but you can also install the capital one shopping extension, view the product on Amazon, and check for competing offers from other retailers. I got an offer from abt electronics for like $215 during last year's holiday season. I've also seen lightly used MMs on FB marketplace for 150ish. If youre gifting, get the glass carafe--its much easier to clean and coffee stays plenty hot. Good luck!

Granted we have what we call "soft" water but i think we descaled our old moccamaster once in like...12 years. Gave it away because we upgraded to a more expensive moccamaster, so it was still going strong then.

Lol everyone's just passing on their opinion instead of answering OP's question. Dude the only good batch brewer out there in the market in India is Moccamaster which will set you back 35k rs. The only manual brewer that caters to the type of convenience you seek is the Hoop brewer (by Ceado). Costs 5k on hebbey.com. Dump the ground coffee, pour the entire amount of water in one go & come back after 4-5 mins to transfer your brew into your cup/thermos. However this won't fit more than 400 ml of water in one go. You'd have to do 2-3 pours for 1L which would take around 15 mins to complete. But one of the best brewers out there right now for the convenience & taste.

Same, I bought into the hype but was pretty disappointed. Went with the carafe model as well.

I use a Christmas light timer. It’s not digital, there are little pins to press to set the time. My starts at 5:30 in the morning. Since I have the carafe version, I have it set to turn off at 6. If I forget to put the water in, it just sits there. No worries about burning it out or anything.
