I have the mochamaster. I personally think it's overhyped

So if you’re okay with a V60 / Chemex (the lack of automation, extra effort and time needed) then don’t get a Moccamaster tbh, it’s not worth it. Don’t get me wrong, I love mine a lot, but I was thinking about this the other day and that’s my conclusion. If you’re in the market for -specifically- a filter coffee machine, then a moccamaster is a great option

I also have a KBG select and extremely rarely brew more than 250 ml at a time. Tbh, it’s a really solid cup. Just slightly adjust the grind size.

Curious as to why? (Moccamaster user and it really matches the hype)

My wife and I received a Moccamaster with a thermal carafe for our wedding 12 years ago. It has made, most likely, more than 4000 pots of coffee. We've replaced some of the plastics and the basket once, descale the machine and carafe about twice a year. Makes a repeatable and excellent pot of coffee every day. Sometimes twice.

It still has plastic but I got a moccamaster kbgv select. The company’s website describes why they use some plastic in their design

I think it’s just the Select that can do both big batches and 500ml (4 125ml cups). Some on this sub claim they successfully brew 300ml with it, but while it won’t harm the brewer, it’s likely a short brew cycle that’s not as good as the normal brew Agree the cup one is probably a better choice

What "Features"? I got a drip machine to make coffee easy. Espresso is a whole different thing. Don't spend that much on a lark. The Oxo and MM will make similar coffee, the KBGV Select will do a better job of small batches, and is more BIFL as its more repairable. Spend the leftover on a grinder.

Yes, the Aiden is great if you want to tweak a bunch of factors, the MoccaMaster is dead simple and will outlast the Aiden by a decade or more.

True, but screens, computer boards, apps, etc. don’t signal longevity to me; compared to two switches and a float valve on my MM Select. And I’ve seen videos on replacing the float valve, the switches are even easier to access. It’s a trade off, if you want all the flexibility of an Aiden, you have to add complexity, and complexity adds failure points.

This, I went from Arrowpress to MM because I wanted simpler. I you are willing to give up obsessing over every detail, you will love it.

I have the Moccamaster KBGV Select. Basically its like making a pour over grade coffee, but for 6-10 cups at a time. It brings the flavor out of the beans. The problem is if you buy cheap coffee beans, you can tell.

I use my aeropress for travel, French press for home (it was all the rage when I was getting serious about coffee and I decided not to chase every new trend. Plus I like the hands-off time.) I suspect OP is really looking for a Moccamaster, though. If you want drip, it’s the best I’ve used. We have one at my office and it’s solid

I had an Aiden for about 4 months before it developed a problem (water flow issue) which was superb while it worked. Check out all the complaints in the Fellow Products sub before you buy one. With the refund from that, after a lot of research, I got myself a Moccamaster Select which looks stunning and makes great coffee. Hopefully this will last longer than the Aiden.

My Moccamaster is probably the best investment I’ve made. Highly recommend for those looking to brew multiple cups at once.
