Based on 1 year's data from Jan 28, 2026 How it works
I would remove the carafe for the beginning of the brew to allow more of an immersion brew, and reinsert/release the coffee after 3 or 4 minutes. The Zutto is literally half the size of the Moccamaster, so it makes sense that it would handle smaller amounts more easily. Obviously this is a hack because the KBGV is not designed for single cups.
Howdy, Hoping to find someone that has used or at least touched a Zojirushi Zutto. I brew one 336g/21g cup weekday mornings. I have a Zojirushi Zutto and think it makes pretty decent small volume drip. I am tired of how cheap it feels. It is super light weight plastic with a carafe the feels like it is one bump away from shattering. I like the smallish footprint. I've looked at the moccamaster cup one but it looks like the water distribution worse than the Zutto. I don't want to take the time for pour over during the week. I'm also considering a switch or cleaver but really like the convenience of drip. Does anyone have any suggestions? TIA
Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed, helpful response. The more I look the more I realize why I picked the Zutto in the first place. I was set to buy the Aiden until I saw all the plastic. I think for now I am going to stick with the Zutto but will certainly report back if I find anything else. Like most of us, my first priority is taste. I'll take coffee I like from a machine I don't over the opposite any day.
We have this one and love it!
Did you order the Zojirushi from Amazon? I got one for my mom and she had the exact same experience. Turns out the water was coming out at 150f when contacting the beans (typically this is 200-205f) so it was WAY too low. Filed a claim with Zojirushi and they said Amazon is not an authorized reseller to take it up with them. (Amazon sucks and sells a ton of used/broken stuff so I’m not surprised by this) Returned it to Amazon, and bought direct instead and it’s MUCH better. I own a MM and it is better for sure. But 0 bells and whistles.
I highly recommend the Zohirushi 5 cup. Consistent brew every time. Of course a lot depends on the coffee but imo this does it well
For a single person / a couple, I would go with a Zojirushi 5 cup coffee maker. We use one daily, makes great coffee. It's a no fuss machine. Zojirushi Zutto EC-DAC50 Coffee Maker SILVER : https://share.google/tHjEnFopGx0Ryf8OH
i have limited counter space and didn't want to get a huge technivorm. i ended up with a red zojirushi zutto and love it. i took off stock filter and use a reuseable filter made for hairo v60 pour over maker. it's great, but only recommend if you're making coffee for 1-2 people as it only makes 5 cups. small footprint and zojirushi has a long lasting reputation making quality rice cookers. There are some coffee makers that are not SCA certified that come close or pretty much meet the specs. Like the Ninja 12-Cup, or the Zojirushi 5-cup and 12-cup options. However, I agree, the rest mostly not great because they don't get hot enough.
Two Z 5 cup machines in our family. Lasts for ever and brews very consistent coffee. A bit prone to dripping when pouring due to design.
The Zojirushi EC-DAC50 Zutto 5-Cup Drip Coffeemaker is a great little machine. If you really want to improve her coffee convince her to grind whole beans fresh each morning. It is a small extra step that will improve her cup way more than the coffee maker.
