"The best I've had is a small tent, the Nemo Galaxi 2. ... It's low to the ground and has a lot of guy line anchor points."
"Grabbed a Mavic Air2S and realized how much time and money I had wasted rescheduling / worrying / etc due to wind. ... the Airs are seriously stable in just about any conditions, even noticeably windy days."
"i got the mini 4k and returned it and got the Air 3s based off the wind handling and pure ability. ... No issues in strong winds at all. ... It handles extremely well like a mini but the size of a maverick 4 but more portable. It’s an amazing drone and flying through gusts of wind no issues and feed stays steady."

"Have you tried shooting in HLG on your A3S? I use this for better results at night. ... The night mode for the M3P has an ISO range of 800-12800 but HLG is only 100-1600 but definitely gives a better looking result. ... I post process color grading HLG to HDR and looks way better than night mode because you get a larger dynamic range of colors and light to shadows from the original video done in HLG."
"I get the best photos with the Mavic 3 and 3E since they both have a 4/3rds wide camera sensor."
"The dynamic range is ridiculous on the mavic 4 pro. I honestly think the advertised 16 stops is pretty accurate. The stacked exposure videos are amazing"

"What makes consumer DJI drones so good is that they totally integrate the camera with both the drone & the controls. You can start/stop recording, pick the focus point, change the aperture, shutter speed, FPS, white balance, dial in exposure comp, change the metering, *absolutely everything*, all while the drone is flying."

"the 3x telephoto is magic"
"It adds a 3x telephoto lens, and once you use a drone with one it's very hard to go back to not having it."
"The 3x tele on the Mavic 3 Pro would be the best lens although the 7x might be excellent if you have room to frame it."

"best FPV camera and video feed"
"Before this sort of thing was introduced, a lot of drone shots were simply impossible if you weren't working as a two person team - one person piloting, while a second person controlled the camera."

"too heavy for backpacking"
"it's not designed to be deflated and carried around in a pack ... deflation is a hassle ... complete deflation isn't even possible ... packed volume is substantial ... It also won't stay rolled without something restraining it. ... foam will only compress so much, hence the substantial packed volume."
"But it's huge. ... If you're hiking more than 10-20 yards I'd get something else."

"DJI has the ability to Brick all of your drones and any company that cooperates with the FAA would have the ability to just down all civilian drones at their behest"
"If you also follow the law then you really can't fly drones damn near anywhere. You can't fly them over crowds you can't fly them over roads you can't fly them in parks you can't fly them within a certain radius of an airport above a certain altitude."
"non professional stop using their drones because of annoying flight rrestriction zones, which are almost everywhere in some countries. ... people are reselling them because you cant use drone where u want :("

"Absurdly enough I also have the Mavic 3 Pro, which is a *much* more expensive drone, but effin DJI withholds the SDK from that drone to try to get us to buy the "enterprise" version."

"The major brands have their drones so locked down with software and firmware that you have to keep them updated as well as register them with the government."

"while the Mavic-3 Pro is AMAZING, it's probably overkill and overspend."
"I own the Mavic 3 pro and love the image quality but the price tag isn't great."
I got the entire combo for 1500😭 Batteries and all. Sealed M3 Pro too.
I would get something heavier. I know the budget is the issue but the mini 4 will not handle the wind. It will be a wasted investment. I have shot surfing in a 24 mph wind with the 3pro and it works great, be afraid that the 4 would be lost in the water.
My first reaction is start with the Mini 3 and then go from there. If it's new I always recommend getting the DJI care to cover you. But one thing I wanted to point out is the Mini 3 has no active tracking so if you were interested in an autonomous tracking of a vehicle or yourself etc. you won't have that feature. I have the Neo and M4P (had Mini 3 and M3P) I love the Neo and was going to get the Flip instead of the M4P but I decided I wanted the better wind resistance and a quieter drone.
The M4P is a little beast and just perfected upon the previous generations. It's like buying a base model car it's good and does the job but the top trim gives you some features that you didn't realize you wanted till you used them. The M4P having a downward light that's auto or manually turned on was like the chef's kiss IMO. I tell family and friends buy the Mini 3 to start and test the waters if drones are for you and you want more upgrade to the M4P if you have budget constraints grab a used M3P w/RC or save for the M4P because the Mini 3 is still so great lol.
Used M3P will give you amazing value for money -- I have seen them go for $200 and less in USA. I've been flying mine for 3 and half years and still don't feel limited by the hardware (more my own skills). Biggest advantage to newer Mini Pro models is better uni-directional obstacle avoidance, but if you're careful and not recklessly pushing your flying abilities, the 3 directional sensors should be plenty. Just take the time to really learn how to fly, go slow, and you'll be fine. ND filters are a must, as are extra batteries.
3 Pro or 4 Pro. Any of the mini / air line will be a downgrade from M2P.
I still run the first Mavic. It’s still a great drone. So 3? Amazing. Don’t fall for marketing bullshit of needing the new thing.
Sincerely I don’t have that opinion. I have friends using the Mavic 2 still and also a very good drone! About the Mavic 3 Pro, I love this drone and despite the Mavic 4 having sharper telecameras, and rotational camera, I still Believe this drone will be very worthy through many years
Totally agree! I use the Mavic 3 pro on all my professional projects!! I still use my mini 2 also and the mini 4 Pro. But still very curious about the Mavic 4 Pro and Mini 5 🤔
Wow what a great side by side said above there . I own both the mini 4 pro and the mavic 3 pro, my favorite is the mavic. My discreet mini pro 4 is good for being silent. The noise of the mavic is pretty loud compared to the mini. I love em both. Have been doing this for the last two years and it’s cheaper than a real plane.
Mavic 3 pro and mini 4 pro.
Anyone have a reputable seller in the US or Canada to recommend? Time to punt my Mavic 2 Pro and 3 Pro.
Thats for sure just a normal dji drone. They can transmit easily up to 10km with flighttimes around 20-30minutes. The camera angle are typical for a "non professional" pilot. For example: DJI Mini 3 DJI Mavic Air 2s , 3 pro, 4 pro etc... A custom built fpv drones like i fly them, could reach even more distance. some people are using fpv videotransmitting systems on fixed wings. (basically a littel airplane) with an analog ground station its easily possible to reach distances of 40km+ Always funny to see the "drone over the airports" news XD they are having normal signal lights. Guess what. you could start your dji drone 5-10km away from the airport and fly to it. Yes they normally have geofencing, but even for dji drones their are "hacked" firmwares out there. The ukraine and russia are using modified firmwares. They use normal dji drones as mavic 3-4 pro for scouting and custom built fpv drones for throwing the bombs or kamize drones. And someone in the comments mentioned already, there are aswell LTE modules nowadays. In theory with that you can fly unlimited distances as long as you stay close to modern civilsation with LTE antennas. There is a fixed wing video on youtube doing a 100km round trip with LTE from one island to another. Not going to post it, due i don't want to "expose" the other pilot, because this kind of flights from private persons are not permitted at all most of the times. And here is an example from DJI LTE-module: [https://store.dji.com/hu/product/dji-cellular-dongle-lte-usb-modem?vid=112071&set\_region=HU&from=site-nav&\_gl=1%2A1e4l7b6%2A\_up%2AMQ..%2A\_ga%2AMTMyNTYxOTI1Mi4xNzYwNzgzMDQ0%2A\_ga\_HXRDE344GS%2AczE3NjA3ODMwNDMkbzEkZzAkdDE3NjA3ODMwNDMkajYwJGwwJGgw](https://store.dji.com/hu/product/dji-cellular-dongle-lte-usb-modem?vid=112071&set_region=HU&from=site-nav&_gl=1%2A1e4l7b6%2A_up%2AMQ..%2A_ga%2AMTMyNTYxOTI1Mi4xNzYwNzgzMDQ0%2A_ga_HXRDE344GS%2AczE3NjA3ODMwNDMkbzEkZzAkdDE3NjA3ODMwNDMkajYwJGwwJGgw) # GEO-Fencing dji since 2025: DJI has removed its geofencing software that automatically prevented drone flights in restricted areas, such as near airports and prisons. As of early 2025, the DJI app will now only display warnings for these zones, which pilots can bypass. Therefore, to avoid geofencing, no action is needed because the system is no longer a restriction; however, users are solely responsible for knowing and following all airspace rules and regulations. How to fly now * **Be aware of restrictions:** Understand that even though the drone will not be blocked, you are responsible for knowing and following all airspace restrictions, such as those around airports, military bases, and government buildings. * **Follow the warnings:** The app will still provide warnings when you are near a restricted area, but these warnings can be dismissed, and the drone will be able to take off. * **Prioritize safety and legality:** It is crucial to avoid flying in restricted areas to comply with local laws and ensure safety, even if the geofencing system has been removed.
