Was in this same boat a couple years back. Wait for a good sale, I got the bambino regular and a DF64 v 2 grinder. The grinder is much more important and it works well with pour over at this stage.
I have a DF64p and bought a regular DF64 to keep with my other machine at my parent’s house. If I buy a 1k+ grinder and I think it makes that much of difference I will 100% buy another one. I’m thinking of upgrading my machine first tho.

DF64 GEN2. I'm in Australia and have only had it for about a month. Still seasoning the stock burrs, haven't done an alignment as yet but a scrape test sounds like they are about 60% at least. Rocking a dark roast for my double espresso shots right now and I'm finding the grinder very consistent already. Very happy with the workflow and minimal (almost zero) retention. I'm slow feeding so the anti-popcorn feature really helps and I grind directly into my 58mm portafilter. Coupled with my Vibiemme Piccolo e61 single boiler it's able to produce a delicious morning shot. Very satisfied with this grinder and I'm expecting it to get better as it is more seasoned and if and when l get around to shimming the burrs. $580aud from DF64 though Amazon. Recommend.
DF64.2 has been everything I wanted and more. I bought it with multipurpose in mind but ended up relegating my Ode Gen 1 to filter coffee duty and using it solely for espresso. Cleaning and calibrating the DF64 is so simple. The deionizer works well enough though any stubborn retained grinds can be easily pumped out with the bellows it comes with. There are several shops on etsy that have built accessories for the DF64 to allow for a Weber Blind shaker to be used as a catch cup for example. I’m thinking about swapping my burrs but the ones I have are so well seasoned at this point 😫 It maybe worth noting but not something I observed. Other users in this sub had issues with grinds caking up around and under the lower burr set. I use RDT without issue, there could be excessive RDT occurring from these users or beans could be extra roasty causing this build up.
I have the DF64. It does a good job but it spits coffee grinds everywhere making it quite messy I have had it a year now and clean it regularly. If I was to buy again I would be looking for something that doesn't make as much mess
This is the only grinder I have had so I can't Compare to a bunch of others on the market. I just know the grinder is the messiest part of my coffee making process
I'd vote for the DF64 Gen2. Or if the budget is tight: DF54. Awesome grinder in a tiny package.
the df64 is actually not on back order i ordered mine 2 days ago will be arriving tommorow
Ode 100%. Have and love it. I also have a DF64 gen2 for ‘spro… and it’s a whole different (lower quality) vibe…
Another vote for DF64g2 if you can get it within budget.
