This is my exact setup. A ZP6 for pourover and a DF64V with SSP HU burrs. It works well.

I have DF64v. I pretty much only use it for espresso, because I don’t like the brews I get with it. I would get a zp6 and then save more for df or something more down the line. I used a zp6 for about 1.5 years and now have an 078 and really like both of them. I wouldn’t get a DF64v as is and expect great pourovers. It does make fairly decent espresso, that maybe isn’t super dynamic, but it will certainly taste like any given coffee should. I do feel like even at low rpm, slow feed, rdt etc. that my brews stalled a lot more, were a bit flat, and lacked any clarity and acidity. Some safe advice is that an “all rounder” is not going to be great at either, even if good enough at one or both. I’m definitely glad that I saved and got a one for both.

I’ve owned a Baratza Virtuoso (barely adequate, if that), a Turin DF 64 V. 1, a Niche Zero, and the Eureka Mignon Zero. The Turin was more clarity/fruity forward, though not by much, but I sold that for a Niche Zero. I owned them both for a little while and decided to keep the Niche. The Niche was fine—super user friendly, and easy to clean—but for not-particularly-rational reasons I was drawn to the Eureka (for esthetics mainly), so I sold the Niche. The Niche and the Eureka are both quiet, and great for my preference of dark beans and classic Italian espresso—- really, between the two you can't go wrong. But unless you can find a used Niche there's a big price difference. As I reread my post I sound like a person always after the next thing, but I did eventually stop questing something different!

DF64 with SSP MP. The newest gen doesn’t require as much modding as the orig.

A capable grinder with SSP MP (or Brew burrs) is worth considering. Could be a DF64 or an Ode. Or Zerno, if you don’t mind the cost or wait. I just moved from a DF64 with SSP MP to the new F74 Navigator. Am very happy with the marked improvement in workflow (though wish there was a bellows; am sure someone will make one). Just waiting for the burrs to season to weigh in on the ultimate taste in the cup. So far so good; curious if it will get even better (as the MPs did after a couple months). The grinds are fantastic and the relatively small footprint is nice.

I'd say this too.  Also ssp 64mms compatible if OP wants to go that way.  The DLC stock is great though.

**DF64V** with a variable RPM is also a good and cost-effective option.

I'm a tu ally considering this. I had a fellow ode gen 2, then got a df64v with ssp MP, then timemore 078 (sold it), then added the oden gen2 burrs to the df64v and I'm happy with it. I am considering getting the pietro just because it is so much praised here and it seems to be close to the EK43. But I'm a bit worried about hand grinidjng being annoying and me not using it too much.

I’ve had a ton of grinders and I’d think for that budget I’d have to recommended the DF64v. It’s a fantastic little grinder for espresso and filter. The build quality is nice and my units alignment was spot on out of the box. The stock dlc burrs too once seasoned are really great.

What roast levels do you enjoy? I had a Specialita and it was fantastic for medium and darks but on light roasts it really struggles. I moved to a DF64 v2 that I got used and it’s been very good. Definitely not on par in terms of build quality, but it makes very good coffee and so far is quite consistent.
