"I just want to know the real-world range I can expect on the Mantis King GT with my 140 lbs. Because we apply the common “advertised range ÷ 2” rule, we get about 28 miles. That’s not much better than many scooters under $1,000. The King GT costs twice as much, and while it has nice features, the range doesn’t seem impressive."

I didn’t car for the battery life and the twitchy throttle on the climber. Upgraded to a kaabo mantis king and it’s night and day.

If only 40mph is your top speed requirement, why not consider the Kaabo Mantis King GT and save yourself $2000? I have an older one and my only complaints is that the TFT display is hard to read under direct sunlight and the regen braking is too aggressive even on its lowest setting. It cannot be turned off all together either. Maybe Kaabo has addressed these issues on the new ones. Otherwise, it’s a fantastic machine. Tremendous acceleration, great handling, smooth ride. At 75lbs, it’s still portable which is important to me.

Get the Klima! I had bought the Mantis first and I hated the brakes, specifically not being able to completely turn off the regen braking. It made me feel unsafe and I returned the scooter. I then purchased the Klima where you can turn it off completely and it was a game changer.

You would do better with a dual motor. I had the same problem, then I put my money where my ride is and got a Kaabo King Mantis GT. It drives better, safer and has a LOT of power. I drive a lot and realized very fast that one need a great machine to be safe. You need power when you need it and a good suspension to help when crap hits the fan (pot holes and stuff like this)

I canceled my preorder for 899 dollars Seagway Max G3 because I found from first owners that even 25 miles is a stretch for this models.

I really like Kaabo. Had mine for 3 years now. No issues, got the Mantis King and my partner has the Mantis 10.

I don't know if this will help you but I've got a kaabo mantis king GT and my partner has a mantis 10. We love them and they're super compact. Fits easily in elavators, trunks, etc. Her mantis 10 is really nimble compared to the GT and we got both for about 2500 USD. 65kmh max speed, 60 km range.

I charged it up from where it was when I unboxed it today. It was at about 50 percent from the package. I waited until it said 100 percent and I let it charge another 30 minutes after that. While it was charging I was reading the manual and also swapped in the PMT efire tires and got rid of the stock tires it came with, I heard they're not good. I immediately put it on its fasting settings and it pulled hard. I wouldn't mind even more pull than I experienced but I would also say I'm fully satisfied with what it does as it is. It's plenty fast and really fun. It feels stable and sturdy. And I'm liking the turn signals and the excellent lights on the front side back and the spotlight for seeing the road ahead. The horn is hilarious. I'm gonna have to order a bike bell because there's no way I'm using that horn when coming up behind a pedestrian. It's a bit alarming to say the least but I'll have fun scaring people that deserve it 😂 The PMT tires on this thing make it insanely fun to throttle through corners while pulling a good lean. It felt glued to the ground even at high speed. I took this up and down some steep hills. It did great accelerating UP hills. The one thing I need to look into is the braking on extended downhills. I would say it didn't inspire a ton of confidence on some of the downhills. I would try to feather the brakes and drop some speed but it would seem to go from nothing to quickly decelerating and then I'd decelerate too much so I'd let off the brakes and then it'd get too fast again. So I couldn't find that happy medium where I was maintaining a single safe speed the whole way down. Perhaps that's on purpose? Because I can see how holding brakes down an extended downhill could generate way too much heat so it may be better to oscillate hard braking with periods of coasting to let the brakes cool down. Idk. It really wasn't an issue but just a nit pick if I had to find something. The build quality inspires confidence, it's sturdy and feels strong. The suspension was nice it felt way less spongy than the Apollo ghost I was previously riding. I think this was more responsive, and the suspension is tunable so I'll have to try a ride next time with a different rebound setting to see where I like it best. I really appreciate the dual charger for relatively quick charges. Took about 3 hours to go from 50 percent to 100 percent. Not too bad. I wouldn't mind just a tad more range but I understand that there's a trade off with weight. This thing isn't heavy really. I could easily lift this into the bed of a truck or trunk of a car. And I think it'd fit in most car trunks it wasn't that huge. I can't wait to ride it tomorrow.

I feel like Segway being #1 and Hiboy being recommended over Teveruns and Ausom’s tell me all I need to know about these recommendations/reviews: namely, that these are recommendations for primarily commuters and I am not the target audience. That’s all fine and dandy, it’s interesting to see the data for the recs. For context: I own a Mantis King GT and a DT2 Pro.
