Since you're considering Navee scooters, look up the S65 - it has a geared motor that makes it much better at taking uphills. It's not very fast, but with relatively low-powered single-drives you get torque *or* you get speed. The alternative would be a dual-drive, but you don't get them for 500 bucks.

I own 2 navee scooters. I own the s40 which I got from an Amazon resell warehouse for $100 and I have the S65 which I found on sale for $379 I think. Both are pretty good, but the S65 feels better, although I know it's older. They've been good so far. My S65 states it has 40 mile range, I'm 230 lbs and it consumes about 15 miles of range in order to go 10 miles. Although this is based on doing about 2 uphills and doing max speed of 20mph quite often. Pretty sure I can get 40 miles or close if I do 10 mph.

Love it when people say "Chinese garbage" do you know of any scooters made in USA or in whatever country you are in? Pretty sure everything's made in China and some brands even made in the same factory...if you didn't know a lot of the brand/non branded stuff you see in stores..from tools to food are made in the same factories 😂 Rant aside, I've had good experiences with Navee and Ausom, recently I bought a non-known scooter from Aliexpress for $490, I've gps tested it at 35mph. So far so good with all my scooters.

The Navee s65 (non C version) is 48v, but IMO they are not reliable enough to be used in any capacity for work. Fun scooters but not when your livelihood depends on them. Btw u/IronMew mine is back up and running good 😁

Had to replace the controller. Broken valve stem @ 280mi and faulty controller @ 550mi

I looked over the controller and couldn't see any damage but its also sealed under some type of epoxy or something i guess for waterproofing so i couldn't see the underside of the PCB. The scooter was shutting off while riding and not turning back on for hours later. I was able to re-produce an error code 21 which is a communication error between the battery and controller. Since Navee couldn’t determine which part they sent me a battery and controller and i replaced the controller first and that was the certainly where the fault was. They also sent me a European standard controller and my scooter is USA so I explained to them they sent me the wrong controller so they sent me the correct controller and didn't want the other controller back, so now i have an extra battery and controller. My house is starting to look like a PEV parts factory  🤭

Dual motors are the best. My Navee S65 has a geared motor that produces more torque for 500w than comparable BLDC motors, in excess of  40nm. Pulls up hills quite nicely without losing a lot of speed, but its a loud motor 🤫

They’ve been around about 5yrs they are also backed by Xiaomi and they are manufactured by Brightway who is also the manufacturer for Xiaomi scooters.  They are not some fleabag Chinese company running a business out of a PO Box. They have good customer service. Ive had a few hiccups with my S65 but overall the scooter is great. Very well made scooters

S65 is a great and fun scooter. It was the Navee flagship scooter and first scooter they did with a suspension and a geared motor and originally sold for $1000 in 2022 (altho they had a special indiegogo price). The scooter has strong acceleration for a single motor, it can even take off if you’re on a steep incline. It is quite dated and I don’t believe they have manufactured them since 2023 so I dont recommend it unless you are feeling lucky or are prepared to replace something

Back when I got my s65 the only way you could pay for parts was a bank wire transfer to Brightway. They since moved on and now you can pay with card. Their CS is actually one of the best in the business, they(brightway) have got a ton of Xiaomi money to play with

Get an adult scooter.  The deck on my s65 is 8in wide with plenty of room for big feet. Other adult scooters are similar size or larger

I’ve only owned segway and navee brands, both have been good scooters although i do prefer Navee nowadays. Navee GT3 is about as entry level as you can get. I don’t recommend the scooter I own (s65) because it’s not easy to get anymore and it’s few years old, but he would love it. A Full suspension scooter will make his riding safer as well. Anything by Segway, Niu, Navee is going to be pretty reliable for entry level starter scooters (not insanely fast) but depending on your budget you may need something less

Agreed. I had a Navee 1000w and 800w. 1000 is the minimum. I'm 220 lbs and it could barely make it up some hills.

Both of these are absolute garbage. Get him a niu, ninebot, or navee. The lowest models are around the same price roughly.

Navee is good and quite bang for the buck. Having the s60 myself. Good for city driving and has good suspension.
