Based on 1 year's data from Jan 28, 2026 How it works
I have the VX2 Extreme GT for about a month and motor is really good, and worth it alone. VMAX sells all the spare parts for their scooters including batteries and motors directly from their website. I also have talked to their support and they responded 3 different times with 3 business days. I get about 20 miles if I stretch it between ECO and Sport mode. Full sport mode will be a little over 15 miles. That all depends on how many inclines you need to go up though, and how cold it is. A couple things I don't like is the battery notification not being really accurate at all. I left one one time with it at almost 60% showing, and within 5 or so miles the battery was basically dead. I just always try to make sure to charge around 40% battery now. Another thing is the app is not the greatest, but does the job I guess. They're suppose to hopefully update it soon to show the battery at more accurate readings. Also the reason I talked to them is because my fender has a stripped screw from the factory, and they sent me out replacement screws the next day.
the vmax vx2 extreme has better acceleration than the g3 and most scooters in its class, as well not being bulky and only weighing 49lbs, 1600w peak motor for same price basically
I personally have the VX2 Extreme and their customer support has been awesome with responses and sending little replacements. I'm at over 500 miles and the only issues have had is their hook. I'm really contemplating upgrading to a scooter with front suspension because the pot holes and roads horrible everywhere now.
Have you considered the VMAX VX4? This is basically the most premium scooter VMAX has to offer with a cushy suspension system. https://vmax-escooter.us/products/vx4 I have the VX2 Extreme which is basically the same thing without a suspension system. It’s a very powerful scooter and will go up very steep hills even if you’re a very heavy rider. https://vmax-escooter.us/products/vx2-extreme
The inmotion climber is definitely quick, but I wouldn’t say it’s fast since it caps out at 21-20 mph. Maybe the Vmax vx2 extreme would be a better choice? 26 mph is pretty high.
I have it and it never goes above 21 even going downhill
If price isn’t an issue then I think the vx2 extreme would be one of the top of the line commuter scooters on the market
Ah OK. In that case, you may want to keep the Inmotion Climber in mind if you find the VX5 isn't sufficiently powerful. The VX2 Extreme will definitely work, but it costs $750 vs $519 for the Climber. You can see test results in this video for various scooters on a 23% grade and 210 lbs or so rider: [https://youtu.be/acqpX92OfTU?t=374](https://youtu.be/acqpX92OfTU?t=374) You can see climber and vx2 extreme are almost tied 7/8 8/9 mph at the slowest. The vx2 hub and new vx4 do better, but they cost a lot more. He hasn't tested the VX5 though. If I were to guess, I'd say the VX5 would make it up on his test near the bottom, maybe 2/3 mph or 4/5 mph.
No folding handlebars. As someone who also jumps on the train or bus with mine, it's a dealbreaker. I have a VX2 Extreme, if there's a chance I may take mass transit, I use my ETWO-W.
That's incorrect. I've posted about my fender clip falling off mid ride and being told it's a wear and tear part. They're dead to me.
Yes, get the VMAX. Apollo is dogshit, one of the worst scooter brands. The [VMAX is $999 RN](https://vmax-escooter.us/products/vx2-extreme) on their site.
They’re both really good and similarly specced. It really just comes down to preference but you’ll probably have more fun on the VMAX.
A more powerful single motor will also do hills. For example the Apollo Explore 2.0 is better up hills than their Go, although speed limited to a lower top speed for some reason (must not want my money). I watched the only video review in existence of the Ausom L2 Max single motor and it slowed from 31 to 20 up a hill, but if you're cruising at 19 ... you just need extra capability. The VMAX VX2 Gear has a geared motor and possibly can outclimb anything, but only goes 19. Also dual motor doesn't really increase maximum incline, watch the ESG hill climb of the Climber on the steepest hill in San Fran, he had to lean forward until his stomach touched the display to keep the front wheel from spinning. Dual motor is is more about getting up normal hills at speed. I don't like the idea of turning off the front motor and just dragging it around, although probably no better dragging around a bigger single motor. A better "feature" is when they have the same big battery in a single motor version, just good luck finding any reviews with the dual version getting all the attention. I don't really look at scooters going towards $2K. Most interested in the bottom end Hiley, Eahora. Also the VX2 Hub, less off road-y but stealthy. Understated looks, Beast mode is hidden and doesn't even show on the display.
I am a scooter rider and it really depends on your budget. It is highly recommended to get a scooter from a reputable brand and that come with some basic safety features like a turn signals and a proper rear facing light. Although they can be somewhat expensive, its very much worth the extra dollar, so you can stay safe while having the freedom of micro mobility. For my recommendations: NIU, VMAX, Segway have really good scooters. Avoid the cheap ones that don't have the safety features. They have decent range and have a built in gps locator, so even if someone steals it, you can find it. However, I would not worry about theft because gradguard will cover it. Other reputable brands include Gotrax and Apollo. Both are pretty good, but I don't have much experience with Gotrax. Apollo, on the otherhand, is also a great brand if you can stomach the cost. However, before you set your eyes on an escooter. Range anxiety is a real issue. The reported ranges and top speeds are the brands testing under very good conditions and very light riders and often times on the slowest setting. They are not accurate most of the time. Do not buy from non reputable brands. I do not want to see someone's dorm or house burning down because they bought a cheap scooter from a random company. I also recommend to buy a full face helmet, knee pads, and gloves even on entry level scooters. PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. ADHERE TO TRAFFIC LAWS. YOUR NOT A PEDESTRIAN WHEN YOU STEP FOOT ON THAT SCOOTER OR BIKE. I see too many people on campus not adhering to basic traffic laws on both scooters and bikes. Also watch how to properly ride a scooter and make sure to practice on the weekends. Although I am currently injured from falling off my own scooter (broken arm because I was being an idiot and tried to do a trick on it). If you want I can still teach you how to ride a scooter. Just privately message me about the time and date and I'll let you know if I can. Edit: I went through the gradguard policy again, they will not cover anything motorized, so invest in a good lock.
VMAX are the equivalent of sleeper cars, they look basic but man they have power I own one and have over 2k miles on it
I have an f2 and a E kick from ninebot. I do believe you're paying a little bit for the ninebot name, but from my experience it's worth it. I picked up an F2 that had only been rode 4 times by the previous owner for $200 (a steal) on marketplace. The build quality is definitely there, I absolutely love the f2. It's not even in the same league as my new vmax, yet I still use it for trips I can't bring the max inside or if it's rough riding. I'm 170 and ride the scooters like I stole them. Our Gotrax is also solid reliability wise, as my 8 yrs old nephew hasn't destroyed it yet, despite trying his hardest lol
