"Spares are very easily available and it's self serviceable, I changed one of the brush motors after the gearbox broke (down to me not picking up things that wrap round the sweepers.)"
"Hope I still have mine, I should've kept it. ... Turns out I still have my old MX518 mouse. ... You can replace the cord?? ... Was it easy to replace the cord and at low cost?"

"Both times I’ve hiked the PCT my thermarests have popped in the desert . ... My first one had multiple holes and was a write-off."
"I do not believe in blow up mats because a pinhole means you wake up two hours later lying on the ground cold as fuck wishing you had bought something else, then spending an hour trying to find a way to warm up when you’ve already fucked that chance."

"Inclines of 10-15° would result in a top speed of 14-17km/h at full battery, whereas a short incline of 20-25° reduced me to 4-7km/h. At inclines of 30° I was completely stopped even in sport mode. ... This isn't going to be what I'd consider commuter viable for anyone over 75kg - unless they live in dead flat suburbs."

"When riding, the lower METAL parts of front suspensions are stroking one on other and this is so disturbing. ... Service cannot fix that, so this is factory problem! ... Very unpleasant!"
"Rough ride! ... I thought I was going to chip a tooth."
"It's an M365 clone, no suspension ... If your main concern is suspension and comfort, the S2 Max ain't for you"
Honestly the Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter (M365 or Pro 2) hits that sweet spot pretty well. Got mine for around $400 and it handles hills decent enough while still getting like 15-20 miles range. The community support is huge too so tons of reviews and mods if you're into that Just avoid the super cheap knockoffs on Amazon - learned that the hard way with my first one that died after 3 months
A real m365 type xiaomi or a used ninebot max, nothing else worth buying at that price point.
Hi all, I'm looking to buy a cheap scooter with solid tires. My experience: I previously had the M365 and did \~600 miles with it. My commute back then was 5 miles each way and I was generally satisfied with it. However I got many flat tires was painful (had to walk) and costly (much harder to DIY compared to bicycle tires, and I was spending about $50 each time to get them replaced. Then Covid came and I no longer had to do that commute, and decided to sell it. I now need to do a much shorter commute, roughly 2.5 miles each way. I am aware about the cons of solid tires, but the road is relatively smooth and I'm willing to trade some comfort for not having to go through the hassle/costs of fixing tires. For reference, I looked at this Widoway scooter which has solid tires and costs about $120 [https://www.amazon.com/Electric-19-21Miles-Commuter-Escooter-Portable/dp/B0DFYZRV8F](https://www.amazon.com/Electric-19-21Miles-Commuter-Escooter-Portable/dp/B0DFYZRV8F) Of course in general you get what you pay for, and I have never heard about that brand. I'm willing to spend a bit more (maybe $200) if there's a more reputable brand that fits my requirements. I also saw this Roinside scooter at $190 seems to have better reviews but haven't heard this brand either [https://www.amazon.com/Electric-Scooter-Long-Range-Commuting-Foldable/dp/B0DNHXC7DY](https://www.amazon.com/Electric-Scooter-Long-Range-Commuting-Foldable/dp/B0DNHXC7DY) Any recommendations?
Yes I was using slime a lot on the M365 but even that didn't hold after some point. Changing even the back tire without the motor in the way was impossible for me. Even the bike shop struggled to change it, the tire is much harder to change compared to a bike unless you are an expert. Yes the tire and/or the tube might only cost a few dollars but changing it ultimately requires a professional, and labor costs here in the US are crazy.
Posts should be automodded if they say stuff like "2-300". IT DOESN'T MATTER what scooter you get. For the budget you're looking at, literally everything is the exact same. They're all clones of the exact same scooter. A Xiaomi M365. A <35lb scooter with a single 350w motor in the rear, 8.5" tires, no real brakes, no suspension.
I use an electric scooter but mine is on the heavier side... I had an xiaomi M365 before and it was perfectly sized and weight was manageable!
I would look at NIU scooters. Decent specs for your budget. Or anything that you can easily source parts for like a xioami m365. I see a lot of large looking folks relatively flying on smaller scooters, including myself at 6’5 and 235. Only drawbacks (to me) are small deck and narrow handlebars, with a slow pickup. Not sure if you’d want to deal with that for almost 5 miles. I would check any stores that sell scooters to see if they have a model you can stand on. My local shop in nyc had those.
I have both ! I use my Dualtron Forever for the big trips and travelling through my big city where I need to be among cars on the road, has blinkers, horn, helmet and everything For the smaller and proximity trips, I use my basic Xiaomi m365 ! I almost built it myself with three scooters bodies I had on hand. It's very reliable and quite capable for such a small machine ! Don't underestimate those little scooters, they're like the 2cv of scooters, they're cheap, inexpensive, reliable, gets the work done and is easily fixable !
For a girl of 59 kg, xiaomi m 365 has enough power.
If I were you, I would pay attention to small scooters weighing up to 14 kg, such as Ninebot ES, Xiaomi m365 or analogues. It is better to consider scooters with inflatable tires, they need to be monitored more, but the trips will be more comfortable. With your small weight, if you ride mainly on sidewalks and asphalt, then if there are inflatable wheels, there is no point in suspensions. With your small weight, most suspensions will not add much comfort, but the presence of a suspension in the scooter adds weight to it. Also pay attention to the dimensions, it will be inconvenient to bring a large scooter into the bus / subway. As a person who works physically, carrying heavy loads every day, wearing a scooter weighing even 24 kg is not a pleasure. I don't even recommend a scooter weighing 19 kg to you, it's not just hard, but it can lead to back injuries. If you don't work as a loader, then you won't really like carrying even 14 kg every day. I judge by the example of girls I know who are uncomfortable lifting a Ninebot es4 weighing 14.5 kg, but a xiaomi m365 weighing 12 kg is calmly lifted to the 3rd floor.
With your weight, almost any adult scooter is suitable for you. Given the short travel distance, scooters with small batteries are also suitable. I would consider Ninebot scooters, as they have more reliable electronics, and the mechanical parts are also quite reliable. For example, Ninebot scooters Es series (Es1, Es2, Es4), F series(F25, F35, F45), G30, G2 (used ones can be bought for $ 300, and this would be the best solution for the money), E2. Of all the scooters listed, the Es series has a folding mechanism, which makes it easier to store it leaning against the wall, placing it on the front wheel, and using a wall mount. Other scooters can also be stored in this way, but due to the design features, they will bulge strongly from the wall, and it is not very convenient to put them on 1 wheel. Xiaomi scooters also performed well, such as the m365, m365 pro, etc. Inexpensive kukirin scooters can also be considered, but they often have mechanical problems, and the electrics sometimes fail, although due to their mass production, spare parts for them are cheaper than for other scooters.
This is essentially a copy of the xiaomi m365, but more powerful, and the price is too damn high. As for me, it's better to pay a little extra and buy a Ninebot G2 or Ninebot E3 (just the first thing that came to mind), they are not inferior in power, they have a double suspension. Well, or look for something better than the hiboy s2 pro, for that price.
My original m365 still rolling. I've rebuilt it a bit, but not because things broke just because I wanted more battery power etc :P Its still a favorite of mine for those jump on and go errands.
> The KQI3 Max will give you numb knees and feet after any medium bump, no matter the speed, even when bending knees and riding properly. I've done some fairly long and bumpy rides on my 10"-modded M365 with no suspension, including some offroading, and never felt a single problem to my knees and feet. The only thing that does make me go "aw, crap" is cobblestones, but that happens on every scooter and bicycle I have, including the dual-suspension scooter and the mountain bike. I'm not calling you a liar, I'm just saying sensitivity varies wildly; you can't assume.
