I use an AmazFit Bip at times. Slow to acquire satellites, not nearly as nice as the T-Rex, but quite inexpensive. Basically just records the GPS route and keeps track of time; no mapping.

True. My Bip has taken some beatings, but not nearly as robust as the T Rex.

>a lot of smartwatches had to be recharged every few hours, not just every day My Amazfit Bip had about 3 weeks of battery life, Amazfit GTS3 had 2 weeks, and the current Amazfit Bip 5 have 7 to 10 days.

Amazfit BIP was very nice. Still miss that MIP screen. Had BIP U Pro, T-rex Pro, T-rex 2 and their screen wasn't nice as BIP's MIP. And yes, Garmin is years ahead of Amazfit in terms of software..

I wouldn't use it for any scientific research. To be clear: I've never used it. I've used the Xiaomi S1 watch (high end), the Amazfit Bip, Band... something, and I have the Amazfit Band 9 Active right now to tide me over because the backlight on my Garmin Vivoactive 3 has died. (And because it cost 40myr delivered ($10usd)) The two bands - Bip have been dubiously accurate. Basically fine, I guess.

Kinda regretting getting the round early. I'm used to the square Bip and this feels sexy.

I started with an Amazfit Bip, moved to a Fitbit Sense for like 4 years until it died. I recently bought a Vivoactive 5 and it's so much better than either.Β

u/expensive_dev73 Usually the screen, and especially the always-on screen, is the main battery drainer. But how is it possible that, for example, the 8 year old Amazfit Bip with screen has a battery that lasts 45 days, and now a brand-new planned product, with an external shape that is probably the same size or even larger and does not have a screen, only lasts 7 days? Even the battery of some smart rings lasts a longer time. Logically, the battery of this new product should last not 7 but 70 days.

I sleep with my trex 3 pro (48mm) which is very bulky. I think that even though it is big, I progressed over the years from the mi Band 3, to amazfit bip, to GTR4 and then to this one. The progression makes it easier

> I have a discontinued xiaomi smartwatch from like 7 years ago and the battery lasts 30 days, and the display is always on. Mi Band or Amazfit Bip? I loved the Bip, as basic as it was, and it usually gave me three months of battery life easily.

I started with a cheap Amazfit Bip from Amazon that at the time was only $30 and did everything I needed (pace, heart rate, GPS, distance, splits, multiple exercise modes etc,). They still have some basic cheap options but also some higher end models as well.
