"My Coros watch has amazing battery life. ... I went on vacation for 10 days and knew I'd be fine not charging it."
"My Apex 2 Pro lasts for about 3 days straight tracking my location, and I don't need to track when I'm stopped or sleeping. It realistically gets me 5 days of use between charges. ... If I ever do more than that, it's battery is so small it barely affects my power bank."
"the bartery life still out lasts most watches on the market."

The first and arguably best choice id recommend for anyone is the Garmin Instinct 2 (or the larger Instinct 2X), that’s about it, check it out and see what you think Yes it has smart notifications but you can fully turn off Bluetooth at the system level, and when you do, those notifications are completely gone just like many other models in the market, they’re not as intrusive as you think If you want something even simpler, check on the Suunto Core and if you want to go for something a bit more on the high end side, check on the Coros Vertix 2 which is a premium option but has an insane battery life, dual-band GPS and amazing performance over smart features. Funnily enough, I got both the Instinct 2 and the Coros Vertix which I alternate between but the Coros hits differ with the premium feel idk. You can try [9 Best Smartwatches Worth Investing in 2025: Hiking and Running](https://alaskanarrows.com/best-smartwatches-in-2025-for-hiking-and-running/) for others though Cheers, hope this helps!
For your needs (off‑grid, multi‑day, altimeter/barometer/compass plus maps and long battery), the Coros Vertix 2 is one of the best options: it offers very long battery life (up to around 140 hours with GPS), offline topo and landscape maps, and robust ABC sensors.
"No Feature locking" is not true. Fishing modes are not shipped to all watches, just Nomad and vertix. Also other activity modes are not available on all watch models although it is not a hardware issue
My Coros Vertix is awesome, but it's been a looong time between versions and Suunto has gone way past Coros now in battery life and features. Coros need a new Apex and Vertix otherwise they're going backwards.
As a Vertix 2 user, I’ll stick with my Vertix 2 😅 I don’t need any fancy features or gadgets really. Just battery life, insane durability, and a good interface/app to use the watch/view data. I have put this watch through a lot in the 1.5 years I’ve owned it—it has zero scratches.. And I only charge it once every few of weeks? It’s all I could ever ask for lol
Love my Coros Vertix. Can go 30 hours activity tracking and still have 65-70 % battery left. Charges super quick too.
Coros Vertix 2 here. It's been great and the battery life is insane.
I've had a Coros Vertix 2 for a while now... 4 or so years, I think. It's been great, so far.
The Coros Apex Pro 2 and Vertix 2 are the two Coros watches that happily track indoor and outdoor climbing. I pair mine (AP2) with the armband HRM so that I don't worry about scuffing the watch face from jamming or other clumsy things I do while climbing. Additionally, the Apex (not Pro 2) tracks indoor climbing, though I think it does not track outdoor multipitch. I get excellent data from both indoor and outdoor climbing, as well as exceptional battery life.
Definetly check out Coros watches too - their Apex Pro or Vertix 2 have insane battery life (like 30-40 days normal use, 60+ hours GPS tracking) and they're specifically designed for mountains sports with all the features you need for hiking/skiing at a lower price point than the Fenix.
Some modern watches can do 100 hours or even more of GPS recording on a single battery charge, and recharging them with a battery pack is far quicker because they have relatively small batteries that are typically about 500 mAh. People do record 200 mile ultramarathons in a single continuous activity on a single charge. For that you need a watch like Coros Vertix or Suunto Vertical Solar, or Garmin Enduro. But since you can recharge every night, pretty much any modern watch will handle it with ease. Edit: when I said pretty much any modern watch above, I meant pretty much any dedicated GPS fitness watch from one of the following 4 brands - Garmin, Suunto, Coros, and Polar.
