Fitbit - Pixel Watch (1st Gen) - WiFi

I've tried Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy and at the moment I'm liking the OnePlus Watch 3. They all have their strong points but the OnePlus has fewer weak points.

This is already possible on the PW1 and has been in use since the market launch. When I tested PW3, I only got to max 36 hours. So in stayed with PW1.

That's interesting. I was really disappointed and had the PW3 with 45mm but then returned it and continued to use the PW1. I'm rather impressed that she still holds out so well. Another reason is the constant changes to the charging port. I charge the PW1 90% via Qi because my third-party pad is ironically compatible. Now I wanted to upgrade to the latest model this year, but the new charging port makes sure that every case looks terrible or needs to be removed when charging... Hopefully the PW1 will last another year and we'll just get Qi2.

Pixel watch 4 is the first Pixel watch where I havn't had to ever worry about battery life, few minutes charge during a shower and it's good to go. This has also resulted in me wearing it pretty much everyday, all day. Previous Pixel watches I would often set down the charge and then forget to put back on. I would 100% upgrade from 2 to 4, even 3 to 4 is a significant enough improvement for me. I traded in my 1 when I got the 4 (still have the 2 and 3 that I hand down to family) and it was actually laughable to handle it again, it's tiny for a start with an even tinier screen due to huge bezel, I also remember the battery life was terrible. We have come a long way and I'm excited for the 5!

I've had a bunch of watches -- currently on the PW3 (large) and previously a bunch of Ticwatches. The battery life on the Ticwatch was amazing, but the software was buggy and the updates were slow. Apart from a few issues around swim tracking, the Pixel Watch is amazing. I regularly get 36+ hours of battery life and I don't have any issues with going two days without charging. Another option is a fitbit. You get most of what you want, with better battery life, but less powerful notifications. Also -- PW and Fitbit both give you a daily update based on your sleep and blood oxygen, heart rate etc to give you a better idea of your state of health and readiness. So I don't check them all directly, but it does help. And the PW3 does have a loss of heartbeat detector so that if you faint, it will call emergency services (in a few countries right now)

When I switched from PW1 to PW3 41mm, it was like a day and night difference. Both in terms of UI responsiveness and battery life. I think you'll be happy if you get a good trade-in deal and discount.

Smartwatches aren't really medical devices, you should really consult with your doctor for advice in a proper monitoring device. That being said, if you have an android phone, pixel watches are hard to beat. Best heart rate sensors and continuous heart rate monitoring. ECG cannot be monitored passively as you need to close a circuit around your body, which means there's an electrode underneath the watch and the other is the crown, you must take spot readings with the opposite hand you're wearing it on.

I absolutely loved mine until the face separated a few days ago. I got it when they first became available and it lasted me just fine all the way until now. Yeah, the battery sucked but I still definitely got my money's worth out of it. I have a new 45mm pixel watch 4 on the way now though so I'm pretty excited to get my hands on it!

The built in software for runners is very poor on the Pixel Watch. Even the free software from places like Strava aren't much better. If you want things like lap alerts and customizable faces that can be set up for interval training, you'll need to spend some cash on apps like SportWerks or Gear Tracker. Even then, they don't have the lap button mapped to the physical buttons, so you're always messing up your lap times. That said, it's pretty decent for easy runs and long runs. Personally, I just use the Pixel Watch for most runs, and pull the Garmin out whenever I'm on the track or doing intervals.

From an older Galaxy Watch? Yeah the Pixel Watch will be more accurate. From a Galaxy Watch 7 or 8? It will be roughly the same. GPS was an area of difference but the GW7 has been improved with updates and the GW8 is pretty much par with PW. For most cases any of the major smart watches like the GW, PW or even AW are close. So I wouldn't make your decision on that basis. Comparing the Galaxy Watch and Pixel Watch I'd look at what device you're pairing it with and the unique features each offers.
