Garmin - epix Pro (Gen 2) Standard Edition 47mm

Really wrist my wish is larger for Enduro, I'm rocking an epix pro 47mm and it's just right.

I'm wearing an epix pro gen 2 47mm, I would trade it for an Enduro 3 if my wrists were larger. 51mm is a giant watch (for me). With that being said, Enduro is a hell of a watch that I would give up other Garmin watches for.

My epix pro 47mm lasts 15 days with wrist gesture, and drain 2% per hour for battery in gps use (only gps Mode). In my use, I can pass 15 days with regular gps use without recharge. 

I have a epix pro 47 mm and my watch lasts 15 days without a charge (gesture on / aod off, pulse ox off and stock wf). I Love this watch so much. In Last 5-6 years I've bought a lot of garmin watches (fenix 3hr, fenix 5, fenix 6 sapphire, forerunner 935, forerunner 955, forerunner 255, instinct 1, and now the epix pro. Epix is by far, the best watch Ive bought from garmin. Very happy with him

Epix pro is a great choice imo.

I like Osaka. Is the city of my favo shoes brand, Mizuno. I have 2 wave riders 28, 2 wave Sky 8, and a neo Zen. This year Ill buy at least 2 wave riders 29 in next Black Friday. This shoes are amazing, never get injured, and they protect all my legs and foot. And about the watch, I have the same watch, and agree with you. My best running partner is my epix pro and my mizuno's shoes. 

all garmin watches have all resources youve cited. In my case, I like the look, style and ruggeness, then, my favorite watch is epix/fenix line. I run 4-5 times a week, but use my watch 7 days week, I rly like fenix casual appearance on my wrist when Im not running or doing exercises.

I have Epix pro gen 2 47mm ss, it is great, got it for 50% off. Don't pay 800, look for discounts, also don't go for newest models, Instinct 2 solar or 2x is great, also Foreruner 955... Find some store and go try them and seek youtube for further info- chase the summit, desi fit...

Had 265, now epix pro gen 2 47mm. Had 70km run and batrery was 40-50% off. If can handle 51mm epix is with enduro battery and it is a beast too. You can try cts od youtube video about ultra marathon with 965. Epix is great watch, dont be concerned about updates, they are all old after one or two years...

Sensor hr 5, flash, sapphire? Maybe. Having epix pro gen 2 but love 955

45s>265>epix pro gen 2>instinc 3 45>vertical 2>255>enduro 3. That was my way. After couple years can say- 255/955 mips are one of best ever for lot of sports and mip lovers, their amoled sibilngs are also great. Instinct 2,3 also great rugged tanks. A little smaller screen for me (like 6-8 metrics for one screen during runs, ins.can go up to 4-5). F7 pro or 7x for bigger wrist, epix pro gen 2- fanstastic options but bulkier- just dont swim with them because buttons can get smooshy (mine did!). Flash and newest opt.hr great! Dont like too bright screens on vx1 and 970, and lame battety. Now enduro 3 comes in a way. It is truly fantastic. Smaller wrist about 17.5cm and it is not heavy like epix pro gen 2 47mm. Battery is 40days with little sun a day and 1h of gps 6 times a week. Crasy. Didnt now what to except, many here adore it, but now- I am one of them.

You can find 955 cheaper, wait a bit and you will grab it. I had foreruner 45s, 265, and now epix pro gen 2, but I got it for 50% off, and it is still soooo expencive. Now I will go with 955 most likely. So think that 955 is great option. If you can, go try them- 955 or 965, try to start run, meditation, maps... And see how it feels. Someone can help you there. But 955 is still great and will be, just save some cash, cheers

Epix also, eiz pro gen 2 is great, but bulkier amoled. 965 also great amoled, silkier, and mip 255 955

Having epix and it is really good, but will sell it due to bad start button after only 9 months from buying it. If you get one- just dont swim with it

Epix fenix are bulkier, heavier, silkier 965... go try them if can... fenix 7 or pro are amazing, no need for 8, except diving...

What are you talking about? I have epix pro 2 gen 47 mm and have 14 days battery lifer with some features turned on, the 51 mm version had even a better battery life around 21 days

The Epix Pro Gen 2 (47mm) was on sale last week for £360 and that has ECG. I bought it. Seems to have all the features on the Fenix and a nice bright Amoled screen.

That's where I got it from. Good deal and it's been very good so far, my first smart watch of any kind.

For outdoor activities requiring gps & other functions requiring heavy battery use no smartwatch can beat a sport-watch, they're two separate beasts with some areas of similarities. I initially bought a Epix Pro Gen2 47mm solely for battery life while riding my EUC, my Galaxy 6 couldn't survive just a few hours with both the gps & EUC app running while my Epix maintain enough juice for several days of heavy use. I've since have gotten back into taking long walks & tracking other workouts. So for my purpose & usage there's no regrets going with Garmin over any smartwatch, however there was an incident when I lost my phone & thanks to my Galaxy 6 being LTE, capable of working independently of my phone with its own number, I wasn't completely cutoff from communicating with others being I had to wait till the following day to replace my phone- if that what it came to, thankfully I was able to use the locate my phone on my watch & the gps on the map lead me straight to it; it failed near my vehicle in the snow & even more thankful no vehicle ran over it while I was out & about back tracking everywhere I went looking for it. So besides LTE function on smartwatches sport-watches are kings, that is, for the more outdoorsy, physically active types who want to keep track of certain metrics. For all others, battery life on most smartwatches now may be enough.

Wait. Are you me? I feel like I could have written this. I bounce between iPhone & Galaxy phones. Currently using the Z Fold 7. I have 2 Apple Watch Ultras (1 & 2), Galaxy Watch Ultra & 8 Classic and Garmin Epix Pro 2 Sapphire 47MM. I do short triathlon (and the respective training), obstacle course racing, hiking, F45 functional training, golf and pickleball. The Garmin is the best fitness watch, especially when training for something. The Apple Watch Ultra is the best of both worlds. It's the absolute best smartwatch available and with the usage of 3rd party apps it reaches software feature parity with Garmin. But I FAR prefer my Galaxy phones to iPhone. Even so, I'm hard pressed to think of anything the Galaxy Watch does that I would consider better than Apple Watch. As you mention, perhaps Audible, Spotify and YouTube Music? Due to Apple's restrictions and wanting you to use Apple Music? Both the Apple and Galaxy Watches are FAR superior all-around SMART watches than the Garmin. Generally though, when I am using Android, I wear the Garmin. I'll wear the 8 Classic (6 Classic prior) if I'm someplace nice or dressed up. I almost never wear the Galaxy Ultra though. If I have the Classic watch for non-fitness activities, there's nothing it does better than Garmin.

I swam for triathlon training and for a sprint tri last summer. Garmin Epix Pro 2 and then an Apple Watch Ultra. Both were accurate in the pool. AWU was very accurate during the race (open water in a lake.)

For me, anything the native Apple application doesn’t provide (and there are more than a few), I can get with 3rd party apps. Athlytic or Bevel for training load and more advanced statistics. Training Peaks for workout plans and daily coaching. Zones for detailed HR data. Gentler Streaks for daily positive feedback. Yes, most if not all of those require a subscription but given the cost difference between the AWU and my Garmin (Epix Pro 2), I’ve got a few years to cover the price gap! Then throw in all the smart watch features AWU has that Garmin does not- it’s AWU for me. I went back to it after using Garmin for months.

I've been fooling around for more than a year, using multiple smart watches, trying to find my "Goldilocks" device. I juggle between Garmin Epix Pro 2, Galaxy Watch Ultra and Apple Watch Ultra. Like you, I'm more than just a casual athlete (pickleball, golf, lifting, obstacle course racing and triathlon training are my go-tos.) But I'm not seeking the podium in the races. With the exception of pickleball, I'm largely participating in these activities not necessarily competing. I have a full time job and I'm a full time dad. If I were an athlete FIRST, I'd stick with my Epix Pro 2, full stop. (No phone call functionality there, by the way.) It's the superior fitness companion. It's great for pickleball (GPS outdoors too), fantastic for golf and best in class for endurance training. Also, in my experience, the Garmin's true advantage is being able to navigate the watch interface entirely with the hardware buttons. No water lock required. Invaluable for swims, rain or sweaty summer runs. But I'm not an athlete first. I like the smarter features that I get with the Samsung and Apple fitness watches. The features that fit my lifestyle outside of fitness. Like scanning my movie tickets when entering the theater, for example. And podcast and audiobook apps on my watch. I've not used the One Plus, but the Samsung and Apple Ultra watches offer enough battery life where I don't worry about them dying throughout my activities. I could do a 70.3 triathlon. I've played 36 holes of golf. So while it's nice to not have to charge the Garmin as often, it's a luxury I can forgo in order to get a more well rounded wrist-based companion.

I have both. I think an AWU would last for a full IM. Assuming you’re in the 12-15 hour range. And you put it in low power mode prior to the start. I’ve only ever done a sprint Tri. I trained for it using an Olympic distance plan. Training Peaks integrates pretty well with Apple Watch. I never once ran into a low battery issue during the workouts themselves. But I was definitely charging each night. The triathlon activity in Apple Fitness was amazing too. Auto recorded transition zones and everything. My Garmin (Epix Pro 2) is a terrific watch. Better for fitness than the AWU (and Galaxy Watch Ultra, for what it’s worth.) Besides hardware (buttons!), where it was head and shoulders above AWU was in the training metrics. Very useful and easy to understand. However, over the last year I learned that I prefer the total package on my wrist. Little things like the ease of listening to podcasts or audiobooks while training, app availability, interoperability with my other Apple products and a generally more pleasant user experience swayed me back to the AWU. Also, Apple cripples some functionality (notifications) for the Garmin pairing. Generally, if I’m using an iPhone I use AWU. If I am using Android, I’m back to Garmin.

I've been using both for the last 8 months or so. Apple Watch Ultra and Epix Pro 2. I've done some obstacle course races, a sprint triathlon, a ruck hike, a 10k race, couple of 5ks, couple of weekend hiking trips in the mountains, all the training to prepare for these events, weight lifting weekly and tons of pickleball. Apple Watch just does more. The Ultra with some of the apps others have mentioned (Athlytic, Bevel) can do much of what the Garmin does. The Garmin can do very few of the smarter functions that Apple excels in. Garmin's UI is clunky and outdated. And of course Apple's battery life pales in comparison but you COULD get 12-15 hours of continuous use out of the Ultra which, for me, is more than I've needed for any one activity. I agree - Apple's fitness metrics are so basic. And thats the Apple "magic". Features so broad in appeal that most everyone finds them mostly useful. Garmin's actual training data is far superior. It looks like a real watch. And having hardware buttons for navigation when it's wet is a god-send. I also feel like it's estimate on burned calories per activity is far more accurate. (Apple overestimates in my experience.) Neither make you a better athlete. Both are best in class for what they do. For me, if I'm using an iPhone I wear the Ultra. But when I have an Android phone, it's Garmin all the way.

The only fair comparison to Garmin is the AW Ultra, really. MAYBE the Series 10. You won't get two weeks of battery life. But you would get enough battery life to do a 12-15 activity. GPS, sensors, etc. To me, the battery's ability to last throughout the activity is far more important than weeks of standby time. (I don't go on expeditions.) I use both, switching back and forth occasionally. Epix Pro 2 and AW Ultra. The advantage of Garmin is everything is in the Connect app and I find the data much easier to digest. You CAN, however, get similar information with AW using 3rd party apps. Garmin's singular advantage is the ability to use hardware buttons to navigate the watch. Game changer when it's raining, muddy, etc.

I have an Apple Watch Ultra and a Garmin Epix Pro 2. There are no advantages to using Garmin for weight lifting. None. Garmin excels in endurance sports tracking. There Connect app is a great, one stop shop, space for tracking your fitness metrics. It’s GOOD for tracking weightlifting. But it’s not better.

Like many others, I also switched from AW to garmin when I started training more seriously. Initially, I had epix2 47, now I have fenix8 51. I am not sorry. AW could track my pilates and running sessions, but its HRM was prone to errors (often showing my HR to be 240 and on one memorable occasion 283bpm), skiing sessions were tracked well, but I would run out of battery in about 6hours on the mountain with the AW. My fenix lasts for about 16 days with AOD and daily activity tracking of about 1hr every day. Recently, we went to the dolomites for a week, I charged my fenix once in the whole week and it was tracking activity (skiing) for 8-9hours every day. I honestly do not miss the smartwatch features of AW, but YMMV. I mean Garmin also notifies me of calls, messages, notifications, emails … It does not unlock my iPhone, iPad or Mac, though. Both AW and Fenix have nfc payments, they both integrate with different sports apps, they both have offline music, they both have fall detection, but garmin does not do emergency satellite calls. My iPhone does, though, so again, I am not bothered. Fenix is much more expensive, than the regular AW. I have never owned AWU, so cannot comment. Up to you. For me, being a data nerd, Garmin provides so much more data about my body and training that I do not see myself going back. I have gifted my AW to my daughter and never looked back. I do not miss it one bit.

Happy owner of an F6Solar 47mm for almost 5 years, delighted with the Mips screen and an autonomy of 14 days, I missed the integrated maps and substantial improvements in sleep control and lack of nap monitoring. 2 months ago I bought from a friend the Epix 2Gen 47mm with Amoled screen, and maps that, without training, the battery lasts 8 days and although I don't need more and I am satisfied with its features, I feel that I want more autonomy for my weekend getaways, where I monitor//route tracking//GPS...it needs more autonomy. My wrists are not wide, the 47mm fits well but I would often like to buy a 51mm Epix 2 pro. This new f8 has more than double the range of my epix 2, that would fit but the price….the price is inaccessible.
