I've a huawei GT2 for probably 5 years. Battery lasts for nearly two weeks still. I turn off the auto wake when you lift your arm and the screen is a simple black watch face with steps, date, time, day of the week and battery percentage. I swipe and see my sleep from the night before, swipe again and my steps and daily counts, swipe and easy access to selected contacts, one more swipe and uploaded audio (in my case fireman sam episodes for my kids bed time), another swipe and heart rate data (currently 77 bpm with an average of 70 for the day. Last swipe gets me the weather -3 at the moment with clear skies and full moon. Of course you can swipe the other way and get the weather first if you like and change the order of everything. The best feature though is the flash light. With young kids it is the best way to navigate the house late at night. There are loads of other features but these are a few of my favorite things.... Not sure how I much I paid for this but it wasn't more than €150. There are newer versions of now. Before this one I had the more expensive one that let you connect to Strava and whatsapp etc... but you had to charge it every day or two. Who needs that when you have a phone. Two week battery life is the most important thing. [https://consumer.huawei.com/ca-fr/wearables/watch-gt2/](https://consumer.huawei.com/ca-fr/wearables/watch-gt2/)

r/GarminWatchesIs it time for a Garmin or stick to an Apple Watch?

for me it would be personal preference. i hate trinkets, i hate smart things that are for "notifications". Aka a smartwatch that's focused on your "smart-life". And charging it daily would be such a hassle that id rather throw it in the bin and track my runs using my phone. When it comes to sports performance, ive been running inconsistenly for over 10 years but consistently for about a year, so kinda in the same boat as you. I switched from huawei gt2 which was without maps and quite barebones. A big advantage was with garmin was the MIPS screen and actually the sole reason for getting a garmin. You can have a preset route and glance at the watch for directions without gestures, i also do several other sports where this is useful. when it comes to training info i cannot compare it to AW but i really like the training load metric and its what i look out for my overall training week. I imagine that all other stats are similar when it comes to tracking pace/oscillation/HR(use a strap in any case) and lactate threshold and vo2max

Ok so I have a GT3 and I have been looking for a reason to upgrade, Like I upgraded from GT2 to be able to connect an external Polar HR strap. What did you lack in GT4 that you have in GT6?

r/smartwatchRecommendations for a 'big brand' watch that has battery life that's longer than 1-3 days?

Inside WearOS: - OnePlus Outside WearOS - Samsung (GalaxyFit3) - Garmin - Polar - Coros - Huawei - Amazfit - Xiaomi - Pebble Personal recommendation for Android WearOS? - OnePlus Watch 3 Personal recommendation outside WearOS? - Huawei Watch GT series - Amazfit Bip 6 - Amazfit Balance 2 (Up to 21 days, from my experience, it is a tank in endurance) - Amazfit Active 2 - Garmin Vivoactive 6, Venu 3 (4 rumored to be coming soon), Garmin Fenix series, Garmin Enduro series (usually MIP display but there is one with AMOLED display, can last around a month) - Redmi Watch 5 (up to 21 days or so) - Pebble Time 2 or Pebble Duo 2 (Upcoming release with E-ink Paper display, up to 30 days) Note that these recommendations are strictly battery life related. Functionality wise, you're gonna have to choose.

I have in the past but now I use a dedicated bike computer. There are some well within your budget that have maps and would be way better than trying to navigate using a small watch screen. There are a couple of Magene computers you can get on AliExpress that are highly rated for the $$. If you are really committed to having a watch, there are a lot of Garmin competitors that would work. I'm thinking Amazfit Trex (or one of the many other watches in the range), Huawei GT etc. off the top of my head.

r/amazfitAmazfit Active 3 Premium smartwatch is official
17 days ago

I’m on the fence about getting another Amazfit and am considering the new Active 3. I bought a T-Rex Pro in late 2023 for $100 on sale, and the battery died about 2½ years later. Great watch for my use, but now it is 3xs the price. Before that, another Amazfit that only lasted 14 months. I preferred using an alternative app which is more accurate over Zepp, which still feels stagnant and gimmicky. I don't need a smart watch app to help me get my Chakras in order. The best-built and best-looking watch I’ve owned was a Huawei GT, solid, premium, and long-lasting, but software restrictions in the U.S. make it a hassle to use. My Garmin Fenix (bought on sale for $450) lasted five years and had far better software, especially with the online mapping and activity management. I’ve also looked at the Kospet Tank M4, but it’s huge and looks like a brick and a toy on most wrists. Amazfit prices seem to have doubled, and newer models look more sealed and harder to repair. I’m going to try replacing the battery in my T-Rex Pro, which I loved, but at roughly $50 -$100+ per year of lifespan, these watches are built with planned obsolescence in mind. If Amazfit prices keep climbing and they keep pushing gimmicky subscriptions, I’ll probably just go back to Garmin.

If you are concerned about battery life, we recommend a smartwatch from a Chinese manufacturer. If you care about your health, the Huawei GT series is the one for you.I can recommend it. The best one for everyday use is the amazfit. I own the GTR3pro and am very happy with it.
