Based on 1 year's data from Mar 17, 2026 How it works
I have gone back to my GT2 Pro from my Apple Watch but Im missing the texting ability the most. I really like the style of the GT2 Pro though. I might need to upgrade. Going 2 weeks with no charging is such a nice feeling compared to a standard Apple Watch.
Already got one on tuesday. It's already throwing a fit about recovery after 2 walks. I've already doubled the weekly intensity minutes in 2 days as well. Feature wise it's perfect for me. So far I've found all of the featues useful. I needed a watch to go on adventures + daily health tracking and it's perfect. Last week found that Fenix 7 Pro Sapphire Solar was on sale in a local shop lowered from 950β¬ to 550β¬ plus I had a 10β¬ voucher so it was 540β¬ in the end. Also got an Index S2 so I can leave the Huawei ecosystem completely. I had a Huawei GT2 pro before and the screen fell off after 2,5 years.Β
I wear Huawei GT2 Pro (bought them in 2021) with Pixel 7. As to why - I like the battery life of at least 10 days (often more than this), titanium body and sapphire glass. Works perfectly together - I see notifications and I can talk via the watches if my hands are busy/dirty or I can't take the phone in my hands for another reason. I have no plans to change my watches, recently changed the battery (it was bulging and my watch front glass pooped open). I put a new battery, soldered it and glued all back together - looks like new. Not a single scratch or dent on the titanium or sapphire.
Okay I never had a Pixel watch. I had a Huawei GT2 Pro which was perfect for tilt to wake and had 14 days battery life. It had sapphire glass so never needed a screen protector or cases. But I submerged in a hot tub and it died in the hot water. Now I'm in need for a watch and was looking at PW4 but kinda scared now.
for me it would be personal preference. i hate trinkets, i hate smart things that are for "notifications". Aka a smartwatch that's focused on your "smart-life". And charging it daily would be such a hassle that id rather throw it in the bin and track my runs using my phone. When it comes to sports performance, ive been running inconsistenly for over 10 years but consistently for about a year, so kinda in the same boat as you. I switched from huawei gt2 which was without maps and quite barebones. A big advantage was with garmin was the MIPS screen and actually the sole reason for getting a garmin. You can have a preset route and glance at the watch for directions without gestures, i also do several other sports where this is useful. when it comes to training info i cannot compare it to AW but i really like the training load metric and its what i look out for my overall training week. I imagine that all other stats are similar when it comes to tracking pace/oscillation/HR(use a strap in any case) and lactate threshold and vo2max
i have a watch gt 2 since 2020. does it take new updates of the heart rate sensor? it was truseen 3.5 back then. did it take the new updates? i think there is truseen 5.5 by now. (how can i check if mine got the update?)
Ok so I have a GT3 and I have been looking for a reason to upgrade, Like I upgraded from GT2 to be able to connect an external Polar HR strap. What did you lack in GT4 that you have in GT6?
I have a Hauwei GT2, the battery life is fantastic and it records everything you need
GT Pro series is essentially a "sports/fitness" watch. Premium materials, absurdly good battery life (like, 20 days), but it doesn't run a full smartwatch OS. You can take phone calls, see notifications and use basic maps, control your phones media and all your fitness tracking, but the "apps" you download are basically nothing. Needs to be tethered to a phone to work. The "Watch" series is a "proper" standalone smartwatch, in that it has it's own WiFi and eSIM support, and you can run "apps", although given it's HarmonyOS there's not a huge ecosystem in the west. Much bulkier, lesser battery life. I personally prefer the GT series as they're slimmer, and you can literally just leave it on your wrist for weeks at a time without worrying (and get proper sleep tracking), and I can live without the smartwatch features. My basic needs and notifications, call control, music control. GT Series does it fine. Ultimate series is basically a cracked up GT watch with absurd materials.
Not sure if the watch will sync to Strava (it might, but I don't use strava). Last I checked, Maps on the GT series requires you to set destinations on your phone, but once that's running it'll stream everything over. GPS tracking is perfectly fine, if you just want the tracking data and not to actually use maps for navigation. Music on the GT series is mostly about controlling music you've started playing on your phone. You can't see the playlist, you can just skip, go to previous, play pause, etc. You can manually add tracks to the watch, but the player is very basic; no streaming. Your headphones or whatnot will still mostly be connected to your phone. Huawei Watch can stream, but IDK any streaming apps for it. Ultimate series exists for rich people or scuba divers really. If I had the money to waste I'd buy one, but not for any specific feature π
