"it’s brilliant for telling me when I’m starting to shown signs of a flare or another illness. ... mainly the sleep and readiness pages. Says about mr hrv, what type of sleep I get etc I tend to miss deep sleep when I’m flaring. Resting heart rate and recovery index also show when I’m starting to drop a bit."

It helps a lot if you can input previous cycle data as well (I started with the last 3 or 4). ... They just improved the cycle data to be a lot more clear and provide tips as well."

"I hate the subscription fee."
"Oura also fucked people over even worse, which is one reason I went with the Whoop - Oura was "pay for the hardware, the app is free" and then moved to paid hardware and a paid subscription and bricked the devices of everyone who didn't want to pay for a subscription."
"the constant subscription 😭"

"Anything activity wise is insanely inaccurate"
"But I'm lounging around all day in my pajamas, watching TV, and it tells me that I have had 5 hours of high stress... Which I clearly haven't."
"it just tells me I’m stressed all the time ... even after days where I will feel like I has a good day and was relaxed. Nope, stress."
I got the ring because I've the smart watches weren't for me. And this just worked perfectly especially since I didn't want to spend 200+ for it. I recommend wear gloves, hand wraps. I've been able to taking boxing and classes and HIIT classes without a problem. I switch between wearing it on my index and middle finger.
r/AmexPlatinum • The Oura Ring 3 Kind Of Sucks.... ->Why on earth did someone buy a used gen 3 oura ring on FB for the price of a new gen 3 oura ring from the manufacturer?😅
r/AmexPlatinum • The Oura Ring 3 Kind Of Sucks.... ->I'm not really into watches and don't do much lifting, I'm really liking the health tracking ring form factor and the apps readiness levels and sleep scores are pretty helpful. I wore a, fungible wedding ring anyway, and just swapped it for this oura ring, so physically it's pretty indistinguishable from what I was wearing anyway. That said if it was not basically free I would not buy an oura ring to then pay the subscription fee; reinforced even more after getting to try it. But I think I might pay for a year or two of subscription and just consider that a discounted fitness ring. It sounds like most of your complaints are actually with the form factor of the ring itself. But one can trade a gen 3 oura ring to Samsung for $100 off a Galaxy ring with no subscription if the issues were with the app experience/subscription. https://www.samsung.com/us/rings/galaxy-ring/buy/galaxy-ring-titanium-silver-sm-q50xnzsaxar/
r/AmexPlatinum • The Oura Ring 3 Kind Of Sucks.... ->I see nothing but battery complaints with the 4. I'm happy I cheaped out on the 3
r/AmexPlatinum • The Oura Ring 3 Kind Of Sucks.... ->The oura sub is overrun with people complaining the 4 only lasts 1-3 days. People who have had replacement rings and it is still bad. I'm sure it's just a select few who have the defective product but it's definitely an alarming amount of posts. Battery life has been surprisingly good for the 3 for me. I figured I'd try out the oura since it was free then if I liked it I could upgrade to the 4 in January if I liked it.
r/AmexPlatinum • The Oura Ring 3 Kind Of Sucks.... ->Real talk-if I had to buy it again, I wouldn’t. I got mine fully through HSA funding and it’s been great for over a year, but it’s not for me in terms of what it offers. I mostly use it for stress management but that’s it. Solid product, I have a version 3, just a little expensive if you also rock a smartwatch like I do.
r/ouraring • Honest Reviews on Oura Ring? ->Wearing mine for the past two weeks as well. I realize that I have no need for this type of data, it doesn’t really change my life much. Not going to be renewing my subscription
r/AmexPlatinum • The Oura Ring 3 Kind Of Sucks.... ->$6. Obviously it’s not breaking any banks but like you said the idea of paying a forever fee on top of the ring for this in addition to all the other subscription services is pretty meh. I got also mine to just try for the month while already having an Apple Watch and I’m like eh it’s kinda nice but I barely pay attention to the fancy details in the app so it’s clearly not a big need for me to continue the sub. Also it doesn’t always seem to even be able to expand and intuitively show me the details I want for basic sleep and workout HR stuff that I seem to be able to do on apple health with my other stuff so…easy decision.
r/AmexPlatinum • The Oura Ring 3 Kind Of Sucks.... ->It does but they are quite limited. I think they said it’s just a general score for sleep and readiness, maybe one other generic category?
r/AmexPlatinum • The Oura Ring 3 Kind Of Sucks.... ->Yeah I’m constantly moving it around on my hand to different fingers to try to avoid weird pressure during different tasks. Glad I’m not out $300+ on it, just $18 to try it out, haha.
r/AmexPlatinum • The Oura Ring 3 Kind Of Sucks.... ->For real, mine is so scratched up after less than a month of use from just putting up Halloween decorations and things. If I actually cared about the look I would be pretty bothered by it, haha.
r/AmexPlatinum • The Oura Ring 3 Kind Of Sucks.... ->Apparently my fat middle finger is not standard, haha. Mine can fit my index and ring finger but not the middle one, haha.
r/AmexPlatinum • The Oura Ring 3 Kind Of Sucks.... ->I have the Apple Watch Ultra 2. Upgraded from an Apple Watch SE. I couldn’t wear the Apple Watch SE for sleep tracking. The battery life (new) was terrible. I would wear it all day (4am-6pm) and come home to it at 15% at best. Over the next few years the battery degraded and made me upgrade. I couldn’t go a full day before it was on low power mode and 2% battery. This caused me to not be able to wear it to sleep. The first year, I tried. As soon as I got home, I put it on the charger. Slept with it. Then woke up to it at 30% after tossing and turning from something being on my wrist. Caught under my pillow. Would catch my blanket. I even hit my wife once with it in my sleep. I said no more. Then over the next few years my sleep has gotten erratic. I decided to get the Oura 3. Can’t even tell it’s there except when I go to roll over and a red light is blasting me in the face from it tracking my movements lol… hardly noticeable unless you bring your hand to your face but that happens when I adjust my pillow. No biggie. It’s red. Doesn’t blind me. Anyways. Tracked my sleep over the last year VERY well and detailed. The only issue is that the ring size I got, must have been a smaller battery because I barely got 3 days before needing to charge it. Got into the habit of just slapping it on the charger every night before I showered. Could have been the cause of the battery crapping out on me just over a year of ownership. Luckily I got the extended warranty and they just give you a link to purchase a new one. To my surprise, it was a link that worked for the Oura 4. Just got it in and so far so good. No issues here. I do recommend removing it before doing any yard work or weight lifting. It gets in the way and will get scratched. It also will scar your phone screen since it’s titanium. Found that out the hard way. TLDR; watch is too bulky for sleep tracking. Ring is slim. Works. And has decent support. The longevity may not be there though.
r/ouraring • Is Oura Gen 4 Still Worth It? ->I don’t have the Oura Ring 4 but the third Gen of the Oura Ring next to my whoop for over a year. It’s pretty accurate based on my comparisons with an Apple Watch Ultra 2 and a Polar Chest Strap.
r/whoop • This MG thing feels like such a slap in the face as a user for the last 4 years. ->Compared to my Whoop 4.0 my Oura Ring Gen 3 is more accurate.
r/whoop • This MG thing feels like such a slap in the face as a user for the last 4 years. ->I’ve tried the Oura ring 3rd gen but returned it because I just noticed it on my finger too much. I have skinny fingers and the ring was just thick and heavy. I bought the 4th gen yesterday and there’s a big difference; this one’s a keeper. It’s much lighter and thinner, doesn’t have protruding sensor nubs like the 3rd gen. It recognized activity which was just me walking, playing fetch with my dog at the park where I was walking a bit faster than normal. I found that its ability to detect a change in my movement and heart rate, even a minor one, and to detect and label a walk was a bit surprising. It also captured my first nights rest spot on with the sleep and wake times and I didn’t notice the ring at any point. With 18 sensors versus the previous 8, I expect it to be consistently more accurate and helpful for my needs as it captures more data. I’ve also used Whoop off and on for years, the two most recent gen’s, where I used to like their data better. Oura has improved, though, and for a $5.99/ month membership versus $30 with Whoop, I’m gonna keep this ring and its membership for the foreseeable future.
r/ouraring • Bad reviews about OURA 4, any good ones? ->I have had a gen 3 for \~4 years. I got it because I wanted to track my sleep and overall general health trends, and I don't like wearing a watch while I sleep. I was very happy that this technology existed. Over time, I've become frustrated with the lack of value in their subscription service (the ring itself isn't very insightful without it, and even though the subscription isn't that expensive, I still feel like I'm getting hosed). While OURA's customer service is excellent, the developers tend to randomly break critical functions and have little interest in fixing them. That part reminds me very much of what recently happened with Sonos: Fantastic hardware, but the app required to run all of it was compromised to support a new product launch that no one wanted. I still use it and interact with my stats daily. It's a great tool for anyone interested in incremental improvements to their health. Is it the best it could possibly be? Far from it. But it's pretty good compared to most of the options available on the market today.
