"I do like the sleep metics. ... It’s not as simple as “did I sleep well” or “did I get enough sleep”. To me anyway, actual numbers are more informative. ... And keeping up with the journal helps — I found that my sleep was generally worse on work-from-home days, for example. Then I could modify and be sure I was active during the day."
"It’s been great for balancing strain/recovery/sleep. ... so having Whoop tell me which days I should go harder or lighter has made such a difference in my training regiment!"
"What seperates Whoop from other things is how it shows you the impact of your behaviors. ... The "magic" of Whoop is that it allows you to pre-select certain behaviors that will appear in a daily journal. Each morning you take 30 seconds to check yes or no on these items, e.g. Did you consume added sugar yesterday? Did you eat a late meal? There are endless options. ... As times goes on, Whoop continues to show you how these behaviors are impacting your sleep so that you discover how far before bed you should stop eating, or what's the latest time of the day you can drink caffeine without it impacting your sleep (even though you may think it doesn't because you fall asleep quickly). ... it is providing overall health insights that I find valuable and have led to lifestyle changes that I may not have made otherwise--even as a person in great shape who works out six days a week."

"I’d say the behavior journaling/insights is a killer feature that distinguishes whoop from its competitors. ... a ton of whoop users reduce their alcohol consumption substantially because this feature is great at showing you how alcohol impacts recovery. in money saved on booze, whoop probably pays for itself for a good chunk of its users."

"Additionally Whoop is simply comfortable to use 24/7."
"it doesnt look like a watch so works with a watch on the other wrist"
"Whoop is for people who don’t want a smart watch. ... I don’t want notifications on my wrist or a giant screen. ... I wear mechanical watches and having a slim device I forget it on my wrist is pretty great."

"I did a 10 day trip, and the battery lasted the whole time"
"only needing to charge once every 14-15 days"
"So awesome to only need to charge the Whoop every 14ish days as well, compared to the Apple Watch everyday"

"that you are able to use the whoop in many different forms. ... I hate having to wear an apple watch or garmin to bed with me but I love how whoop has the option to put wrap the device around your stomach."
"it doesnt look like a watch so works with a watch on the other wrist"
"You can get bicep bands so they aren’t as visible. ... They also have some underwear options so it goes under the waistband, and other options that aren’t as visible. ... The best aesthetic for a tracker is invisible so this beats any other options IMO."

"Because whoop doesn't give me real time pace/ability to change music/things I like to see whilst running on my wrist on a screen"
"With my AW I can see all my fitness metrics at a glance on my wrist, whereas with WHOOP I *have* to pull out my phone, open an app, and scroll through things. ... WHOOP inherently necessitates more screen engagement and on a device where you're far more likely to get sidetracked. ... the minimum amount of required screen usage is higher due to needing to use a phone"
"The Whoop’s lack of in-built GPS"

"The thing whoop is giving me is wildly inaccurate HR readings. ... Did a casual bike ride with my child yesterday afternoon and whoop gave me a 187 high HR. This was a really slow like 4 block bike ride. ... AW said 108hr peak. Ive biked hard, ran as hard as possible doing max HR tests with my H10 chest strap and never hit above high 160s. ... Im not sure whats going on but its been doing this type of odd HR readings all week."
"HR reading on Whoop are known for being absolutely aweful. ... Better having an accurate reading every 5 minutes than multiple bad readings every seconds. ... Whoop has awesome software and data analysis, but makes it somehow unusable because of bad hr data in. ... If HR accuracy is not a problem for you, and only follow "very general trends", yeah Whoop is a cool product. But if you are at some minimal point serious about HR accuracy, for real sport / performance / improvment, you cannot relly on it. ... If a Polar device, Garmin, apple watch says it's at 80 with readings every minute or so, and whoop says 65 every seconds, your "constant readings" are not worth anything. Garbage in, garbage out. ... Even counting it manually with a timer and my finger on my neck would be more accurate. ... their linear HR sensors are poor quality, and not the ideal way of positioning them (VS circular patern)."
"I had Whoop for three months and it started showing a very bad data. Like catastrophicly bad. ... Bought Polar chest strap to check my HRV, it was VERY different and was showing me my normal data, data that whoop originally showed to me as well until three months into use it stopped."

"got rid of the monthly subscription too"
"I simply cannot fathom spending the $360 yearly ask for the MG."
"I choose Whoop with the understanding future hardware would be included. ... This feels like false advertising now in hind-site?"

"Can’t even recommend Whoop bc the Step tracking on that is generationally bad."
"To be honest, I’ve never had such an inaccurate tracking like on the whoop…"

"Support had me go through all the usual troubleshooting steps — no fix. ... I was told a replacement had been “processed” and would ship. ... It’s now been nearly two weeks and my order is still showing as “processing”. ... I’ve exchanged 24+ emails with Support. The replies are all scripted apologies and vague “please wait” responses. ... Their site promises 3–5 days for new orders, yet for a replacement I’ve paid almost $500 for, I’ve received nothing. ... I’ve asked for a refund policy and escalation, but I keep getting ignored."
"My wife got burned by her Whoop in a similar fashion last year and they did nothing besides deny, deny, deny then try to cancel her membership. ... there was a whoop burn imprinted into my wife's wrist that perfectly matches the whoop she was wearing on the same wrist. ... They said things like "their sensor logs indicated there was never any indication there was an issue with the whoop device". ... Then they went no contact."
"Horrible mistake. This has completely bricked my account. ... I’ve been on the phone with WHOOP several times and we’ve been emailing over the last week trying to get back into my account, and there seems to be no fix available whatsoever. ... I can’t get on the account using my primary email, I can’t get on the account using my secondary email, and WHOOP recommended that I just make a new email address, stating that this would fix the issue. So I made a random email JUST for WHOOP, and they responded saying they updated the email address and that I should be able to login. I cannot. The account is still bricked, and I still cannot login. ... They’re also refusing to refund my money (even though I started my $300 membership just 57 days ago) but offered me a 1 month membership credit ON THE ACCOUNT THAT I CANNOT ACCESS."
I’m testing the waters right now. 3 years with an AWU and Whoop to a F8 Pro. I’ve had a Garmin watch with LTE on my wish list for a while now and jumped at the opportunity when it was released. Satellite connectivity made it a no brainer. I spend a considerable amount of time away from cellular reception. I got rid of my inReach when the iPhone got satellite capabilities. I was leaning on LTE on my AWU for emergency rescue when I was near civilization but it burned me once in rural Kansas when I didn’t have my phone. I prefer not to carry a phone with me while on long distance bike rides (gravel) or ultra distance trail runs. I’m getting used to Garmin body battery and similar from Whoop strain and recovery metrics. The golf experience on Garmin is kind of great. Battery life is a HUGE win over AWU. Heart rate broadcast fills a small void that kept me from ditching Whoop, and Whoop could never keep up with HIIT and rapid HR changes. I haaaaate notifications on my wrist; that’s the first thing I turned off when I got the AWU or F8Pro. If I don’t have my phone with me, I don’t want to be reachable. I still have my AWU but I think it’s going to end up on eBay.
I have been a Whoop wearer for 4 years. I have had a Garmin 945 for 5. This is exactly my use case—run and strength (and whatever else) with the Garmin and whoop for the overall experience.
"Device on arm tells me that body that feels like shit is indeed shit." Thats what I tell everybody about whoop. Its pretty cool but it just confirms how my body feels.
I wear my BB58 and other watches in my collection on my left. Whoop strap on my right. It's the perfect product for me. Decent battery life, all the fitness tracking data I want and it doesnt look like a watch so works with a watch on the other wrist. Highly recommend.
Heart rate zone training. Alarm. Keeping track of my week month. Satisfaction in achieving goals. Not so much changing my actions but reinforcing actions and assisting with training.
I do the same. Works a treat.
I've been using whoop straps for 6 years and I'm cancelling because the helio amazstrap is just as good and it doesn't require a subscription fee at all and the device is only $99.
This is why I got it. I can wear normal watches and not lose out on tracking. Almost a year in and don’t regret it.
I use a WHOOP fitness strap. It has the zones and activities
I was upset when it was 3.0 to 4.0. I've been a loyal follower since the beginning. But this really is a slap in the face to people who have paid the subscription prices and also bought all the accessories each time they put out a new f****** b******* upgrade with substandard hardware. Had had to rebuy everything (3 to 4). Frankly, I don't care what they've done. I'm tired of this. What's next? 2 years it's 6? Buy everything again. Get chipped on the f****** prices we've paid. No thank you. Cut your losses. Go to Garmin, go to an apple, go to anything but whoop.
whoop with the underwear is the move in my opinion.
It’s always been way behind the market. As recently as the 3.0 it would register routine walks as stress stress workouts because the motion made it think HR was 160+
