"Very simple design and it's built well (it has even accidentally fallen to the bottom of my pool one time, pulled it out, kept playing and has had no issues)"

"ate the rain and wind storms with no issues. ... It's a tank."

"Truly professional grade. ... You can leave it your will for the kids."

"It's hands down the only food processor I have owned that actually does what it's supposed to do. All the other ones are cheap underpowered crap, and I've owned a lot of them."

"My mom ran a restaurant supply store in the 70's in the bay area - we still have the robot coupe she got at that time. ... it's a tank ... if i did, they'd be getting it too."

"Robot Coupe will also service it and provide spare parts forever."

"A robocoup will last years. I worked with one that was dropped so many times the plastic that the outside was made of was cracked in multiple places and the safety didn't work, and it would still do anything I wanted it too"

"The “gold standard” for commercial food processors is the Robot-coupe but frankly I think they suck for the $1500 price tag ... My previous job I spent more time fighting with the Robot-coupe than using it"

"You do have to replace the blades and bowl once every so often (my guess is once/decade)."

Depends on if they get used -- and how often. For me, the "worth it" appliances are: * Robot Coupe R2 Dice with all the attachments (there are two kinds of food processors -- Robot Coupe and "less than.") * BlendTec blender * Robot Coupe or Vitamix stick blender (big price difference here -- the Robot Coupe is superior, but at a hefty price increase) * Kitchenaid (or better yet Hobart) stand mixer with at least the grinder attachment if not others * PolyScience Sous-Vide pro * MoccaMaster and LaPavoni coffee makers * Zojirushi or Cuckoo rice cookers My coffee grinder is no longer made. So I bought a couple burr replacements. It is unlikely to ever die.

Here come the downvotes. But in terms of reliability, available parts, joy to use, and "buy once, cry once," there is Robot Coupe and only Robot Coupe. There isn't even a distant second. It truly is Robot Coupe and "every other machine."

The actual restaurant model -- R2-Dice, specifically. Yes, it's VERY expensive, especially compared to other food processors. But it gets USED. I make hummus often. I make emulsified salad dressings and mayo often. I make salsa often. I make guac often. Which means I'm always in need to diced tomatoes and onions. And this thing will dice a flat of tomatoes in seconds.

Nope! It was $1,000, used. I flew from Las Vegas to Phoenix ($40 r/t) and the chef who was selling it met me at the airport. I put it in a cooler with loads of packing peanuts and flew it back to Las Vegas. Furthermore, I told TSA before dropping the cooler off at the check-in counter so they could inspect it. After I got the all-clear, I duct-taped the cooler shut and flew it to Las Vegas. And then I put it in a shipping container and shipped it to Hawaii. I use it so often it lives on the counter. It is EASILY the "small kitchen appliance" I use the most. The stick-blender is #2 and the Blend-Tec is #3. (And I have a commercial waffle iron which is #4.) Robot Coupe is so good that I would cheerfully buy a broken one, knowing that every single bit can be replaced/repaired -- if the price is attractive, naturally.

Robot Coupe R2 Dice. Be sure to get the Dice model. It has a longer shaft. A regular R2 can't dice and can't be made to dice. Salsa in seconds. There are two kinds of food processor: Robot Coupe. And everything else. Absolutely peerless. Also, easily the most used appliance in my kitchen, followed by a stand mixer.

My only experience was with the restaurant version. Thanks for informing me about the home brand!

Robot Coupe R2 Ultra. Its what they use in restaurants, and is essentially unbreakable. Will last you forever in a home setting

Robot Coupe R2U. It is fantastically durable but also kind of silly expensive. The slicer attachment is okay, not exactly amazing. Definitely recommend the coarse serrated blade. Our stainless bowl had some sharp edges here and there and I softened those with a stone to make washing it easier.

Robot Coupe. Real professional grade machine. Second place, a Cuisinart Custom 14.

I'll agree on robocoupe and Hobart, but waring shit is garbage. I've seen two relatively new waring blenders and a food processor die from normal use and they all kind of sucked before they died.

Unless you are VERY rough with your possessions, you likely won't need replacement parts. They are available from multiple places online and in person (restaurant supply stores),however. Though they are not cheap

Robot coupe or their residential side - Magimix A good ol’ cuisinart is a good choice too. The other box store brands are toys. Don’t even consider them.
