I absoutely loved my revolvers. Eventually switched to phillips x2hr and pc37x....but I still highly regard the revolvers, they are thumpy and fun. Depending on his age they may have a cool factor too where as other headphones while technically better may lack the cool factor.
They can't be that bad, I'd like to say probably half of pros use Logitech headsets. I also have one and it's been the best one yet. Previous ones were all HyperX; Cloud, Cloud 2 and Cloud Revolver S.

I have used mine for years and years since 2017. And I'm changing it next week as the plastic is now finally giving up. I'm talking after thousands of hours of use. They are great, although I deactivated the 7.1 feature. The microphone is not that good, but it'll get the job done. The earpads will start falling apart after 1-2 years, I had mine replaced under warranty once, but the best option is to buy 3rd party quality earpads. Same with the fake leather at the top, I just continued wearing mine as black bits fell. They are no longer produced I believe, but it's still a good headset. If you don't care about the microphone, you should get the Beyer DT770 pro. An external USB microphone like the HyperX Solocast is great as well. All in all the revolver S is good, i'd say worth 100$ or so. What I like about it is that it's quite strongly built for the price and the audio's really good.
wish i had gone for them , i got the cloud 2 wireless and I found it so bad it hurts.
I have a cloud 2 wireless and I find it a really bad product , just using it to not waste my money , but my 2 hyperx headsets purschases was bad AF , revolver S ( one of the worst headsets I ever used) and now cloud 2 wireless , bad directional audio and a lot of problems with software.
Get hyperx revolver they'd be around 15k used they are all rounder
Just get HyperX. They are tuned for gaming and are awesome for music with a bit of equalizer tuning. I recently got the 7.1 version and they came with a year of Dolby DTS X for movies as a complimentary gift.
Wired Hyperx, because EVERY BT buds are waking up my Deck randomly.
Hyper x. Are pretty decent, had mine for around 3 years, no sign of wear and tear, still crispy clean audio, they are wired. The included mic was ok, but I disconnected it as I have a blue yeti. Would recommend
Hyperx are great! Have been using some daily for 3 years, still perfect!
Wish i still had my kingston hyperx, they sadly died, but are still my favourite headset I've ever had
I like Kingston HyperX ive had mine for years and the sound is really crisp - not sure the price now but mine was $130 AUD
Yeah and Ive had comments from folk in game about my mic too, they thought I had a pro setup but was just these headphones. They’re really big so they don’t squish my glasses into my head either haha
